Kaevar

49th of Spring 511AV

Kaevar had heard of a good teacher of martial combat, a blind man that hung around the barracks fairly often. He was well respected among the watch for his amazing abilities at combat even with the weakness of his eyes. They said he could see with his mind, but Kae didn't really understand what they meant by that.

He was an odd sight, walking around in a pair of loose pants and no shirt. But Kaevar refused to wear a shirt, they were too big a hassle for the free spirited bear. It took too long to take them off if he wanted to change forms. No he would much rather run around naked than wear one of those stupid contraptions.

As he arrived at the barracks he looked around for the man, and distinguished him in the crowd fairly quickly. He promptly walked over and introduced himself. However he was never all that great of a conversationalist, so he went straight to the point. "I'm Kaevar, you up for a spar?"

[Icewatch Barracks] A Blind man and a Bear (Stitch, Closed)

Postby Stitch on May 13th, 2011, 1:27 pm

The blind man turned, his head tilting towards Kaever, a quizzical look crossing his features. A few of the nearby Icewatch Kelvics turned as well, a few of them recognizing Kaevar, giving him short and quiet nods. Stitch just silently studied this newcomer, trying to place his face in the masses of Kelvics he had been running into lately. He had been training and working with so many, that a few of them had started to blend together. Stitch could instantly tell he was a Kelvic, though that did little. The rest of them were Kelvics as well. The newcomer likely ran with the Icewatch crowd, too. He had that beastial Aura about him, yet a bit of the calm discipline that came along with the Icewatch.

After a few more moments of studying the man, Stitch gave him a short nod and a bright smile, turning back to the fellows he had been helping work out just moments before. "Mind if this one takes a short break, milords?" The Kelvics grunted out their consent, wandering off to find other opponents to train with, gracious enough to share Stitch with the interested newcomer. Apparently he had never experienced the blind man before.

Stitch turned, thickly dressed compared to the Kelvic. He had on woolen leggings and a couple of shirts, as well as a thick wool cloak. Despite what looked like heavy clothing, the man stood tall, his head held high. He took a bit of pride in his work here, and didn't want to appear like a slouch. He felt like he had to make an impression, since he had been given the honor of helping train the Icewatch. Looking a bit boyish, Stitch puffed out his chest, assuming an over-serious look. The effect was pretty comical. It would be obvious to Kaevar that Stitch was just trying to look professional. A bit of a blush gave away the nervousness the blind man was feeling.

After all, how couldn't he? Every time he sparred with one of these massive bears, a little shot of terror ran through him. And to top it all off, even in his human form, this particular man was massive. He was standing at least four inches above Stitch's own head. Stitch would stare at his neck if he held his head level. Stitch sighed to himself, bending down, his cloak pooling on the snowy ground as he knelt into a few different stretches. It was a rather nice cloak for the blind human. It did a good job of covering his body, hiding his entire frame, likely keeping a good amount of bodily heat held in.

After a bit, he straightened again, smiling brightly at Kaevar.

"Whenever you are ready, milord. Animal form or not. It is up to you."

[Icewatch Barracks] A Blind man and a Bear (Stitch, Closed)

Kaevar

The man looked fairly ridiculous in his massive amounts of clothing. It was amazing that he could even move under so much constriction. He was also it seemed attempting to look taller and more powerful as he did so, which was one of the more amusing things Kae had ever witnessed. However the comical slant of the situation didn't detract in the slightest from the respect that Kaever felt towards this man, he was a teacher in the Icewatch, and that was a position of honor.

Kae watched in silence as Stitch went through his paces, stretching himself to prepare for the coming exertion. He had never found stretching to be necessary, as he was always on the move, running and hunting served as his stretching. However the bright smile he got afer the stretching was finished, forced him to smile in return. It seemed that this blind warrior was the holder of an extremely infectious spirit.

But his question remained to be answered, would Kae fight as a a bear or as a man? If he fought as a bear, he ran the risk of crushing his teacher if he made a single wrong movement. However that was the method he most often fought. No, he would fight as a man. Running the risk of smashing an instructor of the Icewatch is unacceptable. So with that conclusion, he charged.

Kae's entire demeanor changed, you could see the gleam of the fight in his eyes. His body was tensed for movement, and he prepared to rain blows upon his opponent. So as he came upon Stitch he started to bring his fist down, fast and hard, in an attempt to overwhelm the blind warrior by sheer power.

The Kelvic charged, and the blind man raised an eyebrow. Human form, then?

"Interesting. A straight forward charge. It seems most of the Icewatch have a desire to recklessly fling themselves at the opposition."

With an almost cocky amount of calm, both hands flicked out from underneath Stitch's woolen cloak, right as the Kelvic send his fist flying. Stitch moved to react, and at the same time, one of his wrists flicked, sending a sudden burst of snow flying into the air. It was a cold and white mist, random and sudden, perhaps causing the Kelvic to realize Stitch hadn't simply been stretching. He had gathered enough snow to fling at Kaevar's oncoming face, in order to shortly blind and disorient him.

Sneaky little blind man.

Stitch tilted his head to the side as the punch came down, and the blow flashed by, splitting the air next to his cheek and right above his shoulder. With his other hand he struck, leaning into the blow, timing his punch to flash out while the man was still following the momentum of his original blow. Stitch's arm would cross over the Kelvic's striking arm, and plan to jam a sharp shot into his jaw. With the snow clouding the air for that brief second, Stitch hoped it would be enough to distract his eyes, to keep him from seeing the counter-punch coming. Or perhaps since he was a Kelvic who was likely used to this snowy terrain, perhaps he wouldn't even care about the random cloud of snow at all. It was a cheap trick really, but Stitch wasn't above and beyond using tricks to win combat. It was a fight. Anything went, at least in the blind man's mind. Quite an interesting ideal, seeing on how he was so polite and gentle otherwise.

The counter-punch wouldn't be the only move that the blind man pulled off. While the punch was strong and snappish, with enough kick to it to possibly be a KO, Stitch wouldn't be happy with just that. He had to put the pressure on. He had to keep it on, before the Kelvic decided he would be best suited to his Bear form. After he flung the first punch, he sent another punch, and another, just flinging sharp pointed-knuckle strikes at the Kelvic. On the other hand, if the Kelvic dodged Stitch's counter-punch, Stitch would have to mix in a few blocks with his blows.

If he had the chance. Maybe the Kelvic had some counter-punch to his counter-punch. He didn't think he could counter that.

Kaevar

The wild charge that Kaevar had thrust himself into was met by an extremely confident fighter. The budled man didn't even flinch as Kaevar rushed at him, his calm and collected spirit was annoying to say the least. However what was the most surprising was the handful of snow that his opponent had managed to conceal before they began to fight. Sneaky little blind man.

But a cloud of snow to a holder of the mark of Morwen was inconsequential. He had been the hunter in many blizzards before now, and a hand of snow wasn't going to faze him this time. However the punch that seemingly came out of nowhere, that fazed him. The amount of force Kaevar had thrown into his intial blow and the simple dodge that Stitch had used, had left Kaevar in a state of complete unbalance. Leaving it a simple task for the counter attack of Stitch to slam into his face.

Slightly stunned, Kaever reeled backwards and brought his hands upwards to guard his upper body and face from any further strikes. This reaction had been drilled into his subconscious by many beatings in the past. The constant reminder of "touch your thumbs to your jaw" rang through the kelvics mind every time he was punched. This teaching served him very well on this day, for Stitch's strikes ran hard and fast against him. It was only by his superior size that Kaevar wasn't flattened and overwhelmed.

However when Stitch eventually slowed down a little, after his flurry of initial blows. Kaevar began to advance his own striking pattern.

Starting off with a left hammer fist coming from the right across his body, and followed by a cross from his right hand. Kaevar hoped that the strength and savagery of the hammer fist would break down the blind man's defenses enough for the crushing power of his cross to send him sprawling. The success of this attack would be determined by the skill that Stitch showed in his blocks, and whether or not the blind man could hold up against the power of the kelvic's strikes.
