Knight Training (Fraha)

Season of Spring, Day 31, 511 AV (Evening)

Syna had just recently given up her position in the sky to Leth as Jaelyn made her way to the Main Gate wearing full plate armor, and armed with sword, shield, and spear. While the training grounds were an excellent place to work on the basics of weapons and combat, but there were some things that could not be trained there. Such as fighting in the dark in natural terrain, which was her goal tonight.

Passing through the gate she respectfully nodded to the Knights on duty as she moved out to the area outside the wall. She did not plan to go far, the Wildlands were far to dangerous to go wandering out into in the dark, but she put enough distance between her and the gate so that she could not see much light from the torches there.

Taking her spear she thrust it deep into the dirt in front of her, and then she removed her helmet and placed it on top of the end of the shaft. It wasn't the best training target, but it was better than nothing. Taking hold of her shield and sword she took a couple steps backwards, and then took up a ready stance facing her imaginary, and rather short, opponent.

Rushing forward quickly she thrust her shield in a bash against the helmeted spear. There came a satisfying clang of metal on metal, but no real resistance. When she moved her shield to the side Jaelyn frowned softly as she saw the spear and helmet laying on the ground. She needed to better stabilize the spear if she was going to use it for training.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on May 15th, 2011, 12:16 pm

Fraha walked out of her beloved tavern afer eating a fine meal. The night was rather bright, as usuall. Fraha looked at the sky and smiled, oh how she loved the moonlight. Walking forward in the main gates direction she adjusted her black headband so thatthe hair would stay behind the ears. It was pretty warm outside so Fraha left the cloak at the room remaining dressed now with only her black trousers and a black top stomach short robe. Feet had black sandals and at the back of the waist, in the kidney zone, two Wakizashis hilt were sticking out.

Fraha graciously walked to the main gates and greeted respectfully the knights standing on guard. She thought she would go around a bit in the woods and dance a bit, where no one would see her. altrough she wasn't a bad dancer, she didn't like to do it where somebody would see her.

She had a little space she liked to go to, it was spacey and away enough from the city torches. But when she was approaching she heard a metal sound right in the area she was going to go. She immediatly layed on the floor used to think of a sound as a threat. She quickly started to crawl in that direction untill she could distinguish a human form, armed. She relaxed as the armor was familiar to her.

Fraha got curious about what she was doing and, standing 10 meters distant she sat, legs crossed, elbows on the knees and jaw on hands, and looked at what the person was doing, curious.

Unaware she now had an audience, Jaelyn placed her shield and sword carefully on the ground, and then took her spear up with both hands. Raising the spear up high, point down, she thrust downward as hard as she could manage, and gave a soft grunt of effort as it stuck deep into the earth.

Taking up sword and shield once more she used the pommel of her sword to hammer the spear a bit deeper into the ground, and then replaced the helmet on top of it. Striking the helmet with her sword Jaelyn gave a small satisfied nod as she watched the helmet and spear wobble, but not fall.

Turning as she walked a ways to put some distance between her and her target she paused as she noticed the faint outline of... something crouched a ways away in the darkness. Suddenly feeling a bit more nervous about her trip outside the wall she brought her sword and shield up in a defensive stance, and then called out, "Hello? Is somebody there?" as she cautiously started to move towards the dark form.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on May 16th, 2011, 7:57 pm

Fraha admired the actions of the probably female warrior, wonreding if it was good for the spear to be treated like that. She got curious and started to rub her hands while a dump smile appeared on her face. She had a small convulsion as the sharp noise of metal against metal spread around the area that was unexpected.

Suddenly the warrior noticed her, she could tell by her defensive stance, sicure and threatening. The sound of her voice confirmed that she was a female. Fraha didn't get scared since she could tell from the armor that she was a sylirian knight or something like that.

Fraha placed a foot still on the ground and stood up balancing on it. She somehow was confident that she could speak freely and without too many formalities to the girl. So she simply waved her hand as her light voice echoed "good evening knight of Syliras, i am not threat to you Fraha made a few steps to her with her hands both raised to ensure her interlocutress safety. "chases are that you are training on a, ...well not too secret, dancinngg...Fraha made a short break as she looked the stars to find a fine word ...temple as I like to call it! Said Fraha as her eyes widened and and she smiled spontaneously, happy about the found word. Her words were calm yet energic and her slow steps have made it to the girl so she could look her straight in the eyes.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on May 17th, 2011, 3:23 pm

Jaelyn tensed slightly as the figure in the darkness stood up, but then the woman spoke, and Jaelyn gave a soft sigh as she relaxed. Figuring no bandit would be so pleasant and chatty the Squire lowered her sword and shield so she would appear less threatening as she approached the woman.

"I am no Knight yet," Jaelyn said with a soft smile, "But I am training to become one," the woman's next words confused her her a little, causing Jaelyn's smile to slip as she walked up to the young woman, "Yes I was training, but what do you mean by temple? Do you consider the outdoors to be sacred?"

It seemed quite clear that this woman was not a native of Syliras, and that thought intrigued Jaelyn a little bit. It wasn't often she met a human who seemed out of place in Syliras. Sheathing her sword she offered her armored right hand to the woman with a renewed smile, "I am Jaelyn Baroth, and you are?"

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on May 17th, 2011, 4:35 pm

Fraha looked surprised at the hand, it was armored. She grabbed the iron with her thin hands and wrapped slightly the surface with her long yet thin fingers to see how much she would surround. He liked the politness of the girl whose name was Jealyn ahah no they are not sacred, i mean I don't know maybe they are but not to me, I call temple cause i come here to dance often, as you thought too it's a good place to be alone a while isn't it?" Fraha spoke fast and clear yet with enthusiasm. It wasn't a way to confuse the person she would talk to or to be arrogant or something, it was just that at night she always would get filled with energy, popping and excited in some way. Fraha left the girls hand as she ended the sentence. "My name is Fraha, i'm here since the end of winter and your city is beautiful, love the markets, and the guards do a great work, really great, yeah good job!" said she almost while raising her left hand thumb.

Then she looked at the helmet and the lance. "By the way why do you train here? I thought you had your places in town" asked she still looking at the immaginary foe.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on May 18th, 2011, 6:00 pm

"It is a pleasure to meet you Fraha," Jaelyn said with a soft smile as she shook the young woman's hand a bit more gently than she would normally, not wanting to hurt her with the normal firm grip that accompanied her greeting to fellow Squires.

Noticing Fraha's gaze on her spear and helmet Jaelyn gave another soft smile at the young woman's question, "I came out here to train for fighting at night. The training grounds inside Stormhold are excellent, but always lit. Out here it is more difficult to see things."

Falling silent for a moment Jaelyn wondered what to say, and finally asked, "You said you come out here to dance? You should be careful, it can be very dangerous out here at night," she then smiled softly as an idea struck her, "If you would like you could dance near me, and that way I would be able to help if something dangerous came along."

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on May 18th, 2011, 8:33 pm

Fraha thought for a second about her proposal and tried to remain with the same face. But in her thoughts it was a bad idea. That would be great if I had the courage to dance in front of someone, but I can't She bit her lip slightly, feeling a bit ashamed for the fact. But, we could...I mean.. she didn't want to invade Jaelyn's space you could, i mean I could be a target, i'm not an armored like a knight but I could work as a sparing bag I guess said Fraha looking at her armor.

It was a bit frightening but sounded as a good challange to her, and Fraha was always up for challanges.

Jaelyn gave a couple blinks of surprise at the woman she had found in the dark outside the city walls. While Jaelyn basically agreed with her, she certainly would not be comfortable dancing in front of anyone, she also wasn't going outside the city to dance under the night sky.

"Well, if it would be more comfortable for you you could dance behind me, and I would promise not to turn around," Jaelyn replied with the same soft smile she had before, "Do you have any experience in using a shield? If you would prefer to act as a target I would be grateful, but I would feel terrible if I accidentally injured you in the process."

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on June 14th, 2011, 12:58 pm

Fraha listened embarassed by Jaelyn's idea, she just immagined herself pretending she's alone and dancing while someone's stinking blows. She hold her chuckle to not look rude, and listened to Jealyn's words, carefully. Fraha felt a slight adrenalyne rush that could be both, fright or anxiety. It actually sounded dangerous, and the risks were that worst case scenario she would end by death. Could she trust in Jealyn's ability? Would She know when to stop in case? Fraha wasn't sure but the idea already started to go on and she couldn't stop it because of some risks.

No, I never used a shield but i practised with these said Fraha as her hands slid behind her waist and grabbed the hilts of her Wakizashis. I have to train up with them, need to get how to use both well Added Fraha as she withdrew half blades and then slided them back. Is it ok for you? we could do some sparring and if I'm still alive i could just learn the use of shield. said Fraha raising her eyebrows in sign of question. oh right, don't worry for me, i risked the neck som many times, a small cut won't do me too harm, besides the walls are close, just don't kill me ok? said she putting out her tongue and squezzing slightly the eyes in sign of joking
