"Well," he said slowly, groping for the proper answer, "this one would be the focus, because it's the first one I drew." He couldn't read, so he had to memorize which rune meant what based on what Leto said, and tried to recall that much, though he wasn't sure he would be able to reproduce them later. Luckily, Leto had said that glyphs looked different to each person drawing them, so he could put his own meaning to whatever he scrawled.

"The trigger is up here, sort of separate," he added, pointing to the corner of the parchment. He waited for approval or disapproval, nodded, then listened to Leto's idea.

"It makes sense, I suppose," he said, "to make the working of Web magic easier. And didn't you say that glyphs disappear as soon as one makes use of them? Then whatever residue would just need to be wiped off, I suppose." He nodded thoughtfully. "Show me?"

"Right you are, Sam... Once the glyph on my hand is activated, after the focus has performed what it was meant to perform, the ink residue will disappear from my hand, almost as if it was never there. All that would be left was a memory of it," he said with a genuine look upon his face. "I would be obliged to show you, and then you can try it for yourself to see how it's really done," he finished, and then carefully and gently obtained the quill from Sama'el, and dipped it into the ink a bit. Smiling as he did, he would then open the palm of his left hand, and start to draw a focus run in it, so that Sama'el could see what it looked like. It was a circle with varying lines within it, all interconnected at some point, and it was simply meant to focus the djed that Leto would utilize when tapping into the web.

Once he had finished with the left hand, he drew with his left upon the right hand palm. Attempting to mirror the image upon his left hand, as the focus runes were fairly simple that he was drawing, he would then finished, and lay the quill upon the desk. Luckily for the two of them, Leto's tent was set up so that there was no bottom to it, and all that was there was the beat down grass of the ground. Leto took a seat upon the ground, and looked up towards Sama'el, smiling, and then said, "I'll enter the web, and you'll probably see that it is easier to do so given the focus runes upon my hands, as they are designed to help me enter the web easier... If you wish to enter the web after me, with the focus runes drawn upon your own hands, you may feel free to do so, but I won't be in there long, just enough to show you how the focus runes help to quicken the entrance to the web..."

With a smile, he placed his hands upon the web that ran along the ground within his tent, and began to focus his djed upon it, and allowed his mind to leave his body temporarily. As he did, Sama'el could see the ink seemingly slide away from the palms of Leto's hands, through the fingers, and onto the ground, the runes dissipating as it had served it's purpose, to allow Leto entrance to the web, easier than before. As Leto traveled upon the web, he stayed within his tent, moving towards Sama'el, and taking in the information of their surroundings, even though he already knew most of everything there was to know about their surroundings within the tent. It would be up to Sama'el if he would join Leto on an ethereal journey of spirit within the webbing of Endrykas, using the focus runes he had learned about to ease his entrance into the web. If he didn't join Leto within a few moments of Leto being within the web, Leto would return to his body once more, to see what Sama'el thought of the lesson about focus glyphs, and a practical application they could be used for...
Back again... for a lil longer this time I hope.

"But what if you were to cut or brand them? Would scar tissue just... disappear? Would that heal over without scarring then? Magical healing side effects?"

But Leto had already loosed his being from the flesh that housed it, stepped outside to see the interconnectedness of things in Cyphrus. Smiling rather than sighing, he carefully took the quill from Leto's desk and tried to ink the proper glyphs upon his own wrists and palms, even up his fingers. Not knowing any written language, he based it off of what he had seen, making whatever changes his eye and hand would make in translation, and recognized the symbols as having a certain meaning.

That done, he set the quill aside, sat down and took control of his breathing, his hands and fingers arranged in a mudra his teacher had taught him to help him find that seam between his etheric and astral bodies and the physical one, that he might pull the two apart, at least temporarily. His grip, if that was the right word, came much more easily and he was quickly standing beside Leto, each in their astral forms.

'That was easy,' he said or, rather, thought at Leto. Without a mouth, speech was impossible.

Two Spiders on One Web [Leto]

"Yes, it was much easier than normal, using the glyphs as a tool for webbing..." thought Leto towards Sama'el, an ethereal smile appearing before him, one that Sama'el could sense was there, rather than actually see, even though he could probably see it as well, and gather that information easily. "To answer your question though, I am unsure of what would happen to the glyphs if they were branded or cut into someone... I've never asked my uncle about that, simply because i've never felt it necessary to do such bodily harm to yourself through the process of glyphing..." Leto thought towards Sama'el some more.

Gathering information upon the web was very interesting to Leto, and utilizing it as a tool was even more interesting. He'd have to work on his webbing more, if he were to be less of a novice with it, and more of a competent user. That would come with experience and time though, two things that would proceed no matter what. As he looked towards Sama'el in his ethereal body, he then thought, "Let us return to our bodies, and wrap up the lesson at hand... perhaps if you have any other questions, I could answer them for you?" He was more than willing to share his knowledge with Sama'el, or as much of it as he knew, but he was sure that Sama'el would become a good friend of his, and hopefully their friendship would bloom, and Leto would stop being so much of a hermit around Sama'el.

As Leto allowed himself to reconnect with his body, his ethereal form flowing into it, he would feel a tingling sensation all over his body when he came back to his physical senses. It was a good tingling feeling, one that he would come to appreciate in the coming months. It was times like these that Leto had always hoped for, and knowing his luck, they wouldn't last forever. Leto wanted to hold onto these moments more than ever, the socialization he was doing was making him quite happy inside, and he was definitely wanting to do more of it in the future...
Back again... for a lil longer this time I hope.

Two Spiders on One Web [Leto]

Postby Sama'el Sunsinger on May 20th, 2011, 6:18 am

No sooner had Sama'el dipped into the stream of light and sound and information than Leto was jumping back out again. Pausing to savor the sensations, he surveyed the flow of thought and image and whispered deed through Leto's pavilion. Bemused, he crawled 'hand' over 'hand' along a silvery thread of energy back to his soul's fleshly temple. Aligning his subtle body with his physical body, he let each of the energy centers along his meridian lock in with the corresponding ones in his body: root, sacrum, solar plexus, heart, throat, brow, crown. Then he was pushing himself out from these wheels of energy, pushing Sama'el through arteries and capillaries, to the tingling tips of his fingers and toes.

It hurt a little, still. He was told this wouldn't last forever.

"This part still sucks a little," he admitted through gritted teeth, but soon enough he was breathing normally.

Leto nodded, feeling the pain of reconnecting with his body himself. It wasn't unlike the pain that he had felt in his heart when his family was torn apart, a physical pain that one could feel at times of great emotional stress. But then as soon as he had reconnected, and felt the pain, it slowly dampened off over time. Looking towards Sama'el with his dark gaze, he smiled, and then said, "Well, now you know the basics of glyphing... the rest is just practice, practice, practice... if you have any questions, feel free to stop by my pavillion at your leasure, and i'll try to answer them the best that I can..."

He smiled, and would see Sama'el off if that's what the boy of eighteen chose to do. If not, Leto would see if there was anything else that he needed, or that Leto could try to attend to, any other questions he had about glyphing. Leto felt it had indeed been a good first lesson, and hopefully Sama'el would remember what Leto had taught him, and practice it with his webbing as it seemed to be the best practical application for it at the moment, since Sama'el didn't want to delve into Summoning, which would hopefully become Leto's forteit at some point in time...

OOCI think now's a decent stopping point :)
Back again... for a lil longer this time I hope.
