While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Plague had been spending this night maledicting a necklace made of the teeth of boar him and his brother had killed two nights before. He had begun by taking the best teeth he could find in the boar's mouth and polishing them with spit and an old cloth. This would make it look nicer and would make it easier to see what he was carving when he reached that stage. He chose both the canines in particular and then chose other teeth to surround them.
When he had finished polishing them he moved onto forming a thin rope from the hide of the boar. Taking a strip of hide, Plague cut it into three smaller strips and then braided them into a short and thin rope. It was crude but effective, and most importantly the material came from the same beast as the teeth had come from. His grandfather had warned him about mixing the beings of malediction, he had said that only the great legacy makers could do things of that sort, and that it was best left alone until one was great himself.
Now that he had a rope and some polished teeth, Plague drew out his carving kit. He would cut a letter into each boars tooth, and each letter would be surrounded by a circle of power. He had gotten through half of the teeth, and had carved the letters H, A, and T into the the first three teeth. When his brother called out to him to watch the fire, and to make sure that it didn't go out or smolder. But he didn't pay much attention until about an hour later, after he had carved the letters R, and E.
When he did look up he noticed that the fire was almost completely out and that he should probably put some more wood on it. However they had two stacks of wood in camp, and for the life of him Plague could not remember why they had two stacks. He knew that one of them was correct to put in a fire and the other wasn't, but he couldn't remember which was which. So he randomly selected one of them.
It just so happened that his fifty-fifty chance took the wrong side this time, and he chose the wrong stack. So he placed some very damp wood on a smoldering fire, creating a lot of smoke. But he didn't really care enough to try and fix the damage, so Plague just sat down and finished carving the last letter of the word, a D. He had just finished carving the word hatred into the teeth of his necklace, when he saw his brother flying into the campsite.
OOCSorry for all the nonsense about malediction. I wanted to use the stuff from our boar. |

Almost an entire bell had passed and the area around his targeted tree was now littered with missed arrows and only a few that had planted themselves into the bark of the tree, reaching for another arrow he found that his quiver was once again empty. Putting his bow away and walking over to gather his arrows again cursing as he tried to find every single one of his arrows the densly packed undergrowth making it a real pain in the ass. As he turned around to go back into his shooting position after he retrieved all his arrows only to open his eyes in alarm as he saw a obvious plume of smoke coming from their camp. Forgetting about his training he quickly took towards the sky hurrying towards the camp.
When landed in the camp, panting from the short while flying at his top speed ready to react to any dangers that might have caused the smoke. When he saw his brother just playing around with his bones while the fire was creating enough smoke to make their camp visible to whoever was around in a few miles. “You petching Vagik!” Neek blurted out in anger, here he did his best to keep both him and his brother alive and here the idiot just didn't even listen to his simple instruction of throwing wood from the pile closest to the fire to prevent people finding them. “Do you ever even think about what you are doing!" |

When his brother burst into camp berating Plague for his stupidity, he sat by his bones, unnaturally still. His only movement to take a bone knife from the ground beside him and cut a thing line across his wrist. He then proceeded to drop blood on the circle of each tooth, activating the magic he had uncovered. Then he slowly placed his tools and his newly finished necklace on the ground, and walked towards his brother. "What did I tell you about your lack of respect?" said Plague, keeping his voice low. "What did I say?"
As the words left his lips, he launched his body into Neek. All the while scratching and beating the form with his powerful hands. After a few seconds he retreated "Well, what do you have to say for yourself?" |

Before the words even completely left his mouth Neek already realized that he did something very very stupid. The almost unnatural stillness that was evident in his brothers body being one of the signs that set of the alarm bells in his head. Rooted to the ground in fear as the large zith made his way towards him, stopping right in front of him looming over the rather smallish Neek.
"Yo...you.. Sai.." Neek wasn't able to form a complete sentence before plague tore into him scratching and beating the poor neek for a few seconds knocking him into the ground and pulling a few shallow red streaks in his skin, the blood staining his gray fur with splotches of read. "I'mnotgonnadoitanmore." Neek fearfully muttered as he was crawled into a ball, still looking up towards his tormentor with fear in his eyes, as if he feared that he would get beaten again.
"We... Still should pack and run... People can see the plume..." Neek carefully offered. |

Plague knew that his brother had understood his message, and he also knew that it would be foolish to truly hurt Neek. He didn't regret beating the shyke out of him when angry, but now that his blood had cooled there was no reason to continue. While Plague was very violent, deep down he loved his younger brother, and while he wouldn't put up with disrespect he wouldn't needlessly beat the smaller Zith. "Good, now get up"
"Well if you say we need to move, fine, let's move. But when we get to wherever you decided we need to go. I'm teaching you to fight, because that was just pathetic. Your a Zith, you need to be strong."
Plague stood tall, waiting for his bloody pulp of a brother to respond to his statement. |

Neek quickly nodded and scrambled to his feet as plague demanded he got back up on his feet, trying to ignore the sting of the wound his own brother gave him. Still he kept a weary eye on his brother and was ready to take flight at the least sign of trouble. “Just go and pack your stuff while I put out the fire and bundle the dry wood, I still have my things in my pack.” Neek said in a meek tone, trying to put it more as a piece of advice then anything resembling an order and he hoped his brother did listen to him for once. As he quickly walked over to the fire and began throwing sand over it to get the fire out as quick as he could, he didn't want to signal everything that could see it their position for to long, when the fire was finally out he ran over to his pack and rooted around for the rope, pulling out a piece that would be long enough to tie the branches together before cutting of the piece with his claws, picking up his pack and hanging it over his shoulders, the backpack itself hanging over his belly to make sure his wings had full maneuverability as he walked towards the pile of dry firewood and tied it together, giving a look towards his brother. “are you ready?” |

Plague nodded to his brothers request, he had proven his point and there was no need to prove it further. So he walked over to where his finished project lay, and gently picked it up, and wrapped it in a torn shirt. Then he reverently placed that in a satchel he had taken from one of his kills when he had lived in Cyphrus. He also picked up his carving set and placed it in it's bag, and tucked that pouch into the larger satchel. And that was the sum of anything that he would take with him. He would return, this was his territory, but for now he would listen to his brother and stay away for a day or two. There was no sense in drawing the attention of the knights to his presence.
He then walked over to where his brother stood and simply nodded to the question posed to him. |

As soon as he got confirmation from his brother that everything was ready Neek spread out his wings and pushed himself of the ground struggling with the wood weighing the rather smallish zith down more then he had expected, though not to much that flying was going to be impossible. Though his usual method of trying to keep as silent as possible by using as least wing beats possible wouldn't be possible with all that extra weight.
Still he wasn't hunting right now, so the added sound wouldn't give him away, after having flown a few bells away from their last camp he awkwardly landed on top of one of the trees and just dropped the bunch of sticks and twigs down to the ground before even attempting to climb downwards. Looking over his shoulder at his brother in the sky, hoping that he saw him land. |
