Mek of the Lost Grove

Basic Information
Race: Myrian
Birthday & Age : Winter 81, 490 AV, Age 21
Gender: Male

Physical Description
Typical of a young Myrian, Mek is the absolute picture of health. Often going shirtless, his upper body and core look like they were sculpted from stone. His arms reflect his time in the service, with many small scars rippling with the muscle underneath. A small black tatoo on his upper right bicep seems to be the only ink he possessed; but not uncommon for a relative youngster. His skin would be closer to brown than gold, yet still not quite the darker shade that adorns many of his kind.
A look at Mek's face would reveal a hard face with jutting features, yet not unattractive. Strong chin and nose, high cheekbones, prominent and linked eyebrows. His hair is pulled back in a ponytail, long and brown, cut for function and not for fashion. A single gold ring adorns his left ear, small enough to not hamper any movement or have a risk of getting caught.
An often dress for Mek is the typical cotton, white top and bottom; however, Mek is accustomed to ditching his tunic, leaving him with breeches and his study boots, even when moving through the jungle. Undoubtedly, many of his scars are from an overhanging tree branch or falling rock from above.

Character Personality
Mek is the epitome of the stoic warrior and his heritage. Continually calm and quiet, ignoring his surroundings and focusing on his task at hand. He rarely speaks without another iniatiation the conversation; when he does speak, it is in a slow, deep voice. At first, it seems as if he has trouble getting the words out, suggesting a speech impediment. For those who know Mek, however, know that he is articulate, and would rather convey his message in as few words as possible. He thinks closely about his words beforehand, never speaking without thinking.
While many think this would be a downfall on the battlefield, it actually gives Mek an edge over so many others. While his brothers and friends run screaming at the enemy, Mek is continually taking in his surroundings and planning his next move. He would rather rely on stealth than frontal assault. An arrow can silence one far more quickly than a longsword, and at range. Others Myrians rejoice to have Mek fighting with them, as there is no need for communication; he simply reads the situation and inherently knows his next move. He thinks strategically all the time, even when doing something as simply as cooking.
Out of the battlefield, Mek is much the same. He is not the one to get loud and rambunctious when at a pub; rather, you will see him taking his time and enjoying a drink in the corner. Friends are hard for him to come by, as he is seen as somewhat of a nerd in his culture, not in the bookwork sense, but in the way he thinks and acts. He is much more conservative than his brethren, more tradional. He dislikes loud displays of music and art, and appreciates how much a little touch can change something.

Character History
Mek grew up as normal as one could for a bloodthirsty tribe whose goal is world domination. He seemed to develop slower as a child, having a harder time wrapping his mind around simple concepts such as reading and writing. Along with this, he seemed quiet, almost timid. This worried his elders and parents until he began his weapon training and showed everyone in a hurry that he was by no means timid. He was just quiet, and in a culture like his, this was rare. He became somewhat of an outcast. He had friends, to a point, but he generally would spend his alone time browsing books or continuing his ongoing weapon training.

Having no outstanding skills, Mek decided to complete his mandatory three years of military service as soon as he could, at age eighteen. He performed exceptionally! While there weren't any large scale battles in this time, he showed his prowess in various raids and hunting, proving his worth as a warrior. His attention to detail and strategic mind attracted the attention of his superiors, and a life dedicated to fighting would be an option for Mek.

Yet, at the moment, he declined. True to his nature, he wanted to experience life on his own terms. Mek would still lay down everything for his brethren and go to war, but in such times of relative peace, he feels his time would be better spent studying, honing his fighting skills, and preparing himself.
