Names: Malia, Azola Race: Nuit Age: 201 (born in Fall, 309 AV) Gender: female
Present
At first sight she appears completely human: The body Malia currently occupies is slender and of a creamy complexion, yet not physically strong. The most distinctive trait is the blood-red hair framing a heart-shaped face and overshadowing dark eyes. If looked at very closely, the eyes reveal slim blue circles around the irises, signs of her connection with Tanroa, as well as a dark red undertone given to her by Uldr. The real gnosis mark, though, is the black ring at the left side of her neck, almost like a burn. Malia keeps her body clean and healthy by bathing and applying cream regularly so her skin maintains its softness and flexibility. Additionally, she uses face powder to hide the dark bags under her eyes and speaks in a way that prevents her black tongue from showing through her teeth. Indeed, it is important to the Nuit to look like a human, although the unnatural paleness and monotone manner of speaking cannot be concealed that easily. Her movements are always precise. She will never waste energy to a cause she doesn’t care for.
Before Summer 510 AV
As a Nuit Malia is by no means designed for physical labour, her body being skinny, thin and not very strong. Her pale skin, black tongue and bags under the completely black eyes show that she is undead, looking haunted and restless – a frightening sight to the world of the living. However, since the body she occupies is rather young and fresh, a few beautiful remains can be seen: especially the black hair that is shimmering red in the sunlight, or the lively and energetic glimmer in the pitch-black eyes. Although Malia's kind has the reputation of being dangerous traitors, her whole body language indicates that she is indeed a harmless being, too weak to actually hurt anyone.
Her usual speaking and whole behavior is quiet, close to monotonous and sometimes even bordering to ignorance. She seems uninterested in the world that circulates around her. This is mainly because of her undead immortality – having already seen and experienced a lot of emotions, she now makes a careful divide between the uncomfortable and the pleasurable ones, favoring the positive emotions much over the negative ones. However, sometimes even someone as old as her might feel depressed, sad or angry, mostly because of her senseless nature. Then she would spend days, even weeks curled up in a dark corner, thinking about life and death, about fate and luck and happiness and what these terms even mean to someone like her. Sometimes she then finds solace in Tanroa, because the Time Goddess certainly understands her psychic pain much better than any living being ever can.
Still she is very much interested in the living world and willing to join an existing community and adapt to their society very quickly. Due to her sharp mind focused on more important tasks than surviving, she usually succeeds in imitating the lifestyle of those around her and learning as much as possible about their culture. Although her existence doesn't seem to have any actual sense, she has found some sort of distraction: living the imitation of a life dedicated to a certain skill or lore. Because she knows that she has an indefinite amount of time, she finds pleasure in specializing in a certain profession and learning as much as possible about it.

Malia knows very little about her previous life. Apart from her name and gender she can only remember the event that made her Nuit: another undead forcing her to drink his ichor. The process was incredibly painful, and she was left in a dark chamber for several days while crying and screaming because she thought a fire would consume her body. Eventually the pain faded and she was completely undead. From that time on she and her 'Master' travelled around, often through dangerous environment such as desert or rainforest, and during those journeys he taught her everything she needed to know as a Nuit.
Apart from that he also taught her about Tanroa, the Goddess of Time, and how She had given their kind the generous present of immortality. Since he spoke about Her with great respect and belief, Malia found herself more and more interested in the Goddess and memorized every bit of information she could get about Her.
But after a few decades of travelling together, tragedy struck: Malia's 'Master' intended to rest outside a small village for a few days, but they were discovered very soon. During the following fight and hunt her 'Master' got injured and she herself had to flee to escape their daggers and swords. She hasn't seen him since then, doesn't even know whether he is still alive. After a long time of grief and darkness, of missing him and thinking about her hopeless situation, she decided to go to a city and live a mortal's life just to distract her from those depressed thoughts.
Therefore she purchased a house in Syliras, the biggest known city, and travelled there with the intention of beginning a new, different part of her undead 'life' ...
Act I
First of all, she paid a visit to the Temple of All Gods and prayed to Tanroa. Longing for something more, Malia asked the Goddess for a purpose, some sense in her eternal life. Her question was answered when Tanroa Herself appeared and granted the Nuit a glimpse into her past. Had she been suffering from amnesia before, everything was suddenly clear. Malia remembered that she had been the daughter of wealthy people in Karjin, leading a textile business. Her father and his brother led the business to even greater success, advised by a mysterious stranger who called himself Kahnikivas. However, the man soon demanded a price: the daughter, Malia. He said he’d come back after a couple years and collect her. Terrified, her father flew to find a solution to the problem. Because Kahnikivas was a Nuit, he also strived to transform into one. When he did, he transformed his daughter as well and went into hiding with her.
Knowing the truth, Malia swore to find her father and kill Kahnikivas. Tanroa granted her with a gnosis mark for support. The Nuit started inventing a complex plan to acquire power and allies in order to become strong enough to defeat her nemesis. While in Syliras, she worked as a teacher for orphaned children and got to know the owner, a blind human who called himself Stitch.
After hearing of Sahova and its wizard community, she traveled to visit it. A Sahovan Nuit named Jilitse initiated her into the magical discipline of Animation. Furthermore, Malia stumbled upon a cult of Uldr and takes the chance to gain power. She agreed on a contract with the God of Undeath: For bringing Him three new followers, she received strength. Together with His gnosis mark, the God has also planted a seed of hate into her heart.
Malia returned to Syliras with a new body and altered goals. During the day she returned to working at the orphanage, but at night she experimented with Animation. Her former suppression of emotions had turned into some sort of calculated coolness. Still, she couldn’t help but grow attached to Stitch’s childlike and optimistic behavior and feel intrigued by his unnatural sense of sight. Although she saw pulsers as inferior, she agreed to help him find Priskil’s Order of Radiance. For that purpose, they traveled to Avanthal.
While waiting for Morwen to return to their people in Spring, Malia further advanced her Animation studies and worked at the local pet shop to earn the money for supplies and equipment.

Although she usually is realistic, Malia has deep faith in Tanroa, the Goddess of Time. Since her ‘Master’ has told her that immortality is a gift, she has worshipped and prayed to the Goddess in good as well as in bad times. During phases of depression and doubt, Tanroa is her anchor, the only thing that prevents her from losing every will to continue such a senseless existence. When Malia has a quest to fulfill, Tanroa gives her strength and the will to face the challenge and sometimes even bits of useful information. Malia is very grateful that Tanroa gave her the chance to witness the passing of time, gain knowledge and wisdom through being a Nuit.
The sign of her devotion manifests itself through blue circles around her irises. They are barely noticeable except when directly hit by light.
Uldr
Malia’s relationship with Uldr is a complex one. She happened to make the God’s acquaintance in Sahova because she was searching for power. Although she is disgusted by the God’s slippery behavior and His affinity for snakes, she accepts the opportunity to become stronger in the form of a contract. The conditions are: Uldr gives her strength and the ability to control all of His followers with less gnosis marks than she herself. To return the favor, Malia has to bring him three individuals that she deems suited for becoming His followers. When she agreed, Malia experienced some sort of painful rebirth as a Chained One. Now she is as strong as a mortal once again. However, she doesn’t know that Uldr has planted a seed of hate in her heart that will grow and influence her as time passes.
As a physical sign of their contract, Uldr has placed a black ring at the side of Malia’s neck. Also, her eyes shine with a faint red glimmer that cannot be noticed under normal circumstances, but adds a somewhat eerie quality to her gaze.
