Singing in the Streets (Shri)

Season of Spring, Day 86, 511 AV

It was another beautiful day in Mura, and Quelen was out walking the streets as she softly sang to herself. She'd heard a delightful song the other day which had stuck with her ever since. She had faintly understood the words, knowing a little of Kontinese, but while the praise sung to Laviku had certainly struck a cord with the Charoda it was the music of the song that she had truly enjoyed.

Not able to remember all the proper words Quelen was instead softly singing the song with las as she moved down the street, her curious eyes glancing back and forth as she looked for something interesting to find out about for the today.

Singing in the Streets (Shri)

Postby Shri on May 23rd, 2011, 2:30 pm

Another beautiful day on Konti Isle. What would Shri do today? Maybe write some poetry, or maybe visit the Silver Lake and take a swim? But none of that ran through her thoughts. She needed to do something new, or something she hasn't done in a while. Or even meet someone new. That's what she would do! She would travel down the streets of Mura, looking for someone she hasn't met before and introduce herself.

Shri opened her cabin door, walking outside. She began to skip lightly down the road, when she heard something familiar. A song she had learned when she was younger. But what was the song callled? The title had slipped her mind, and so had the words. But the melody, she knew it. Shri began to hum along, searching for this person singing.

Singing in the Streets (Shri)

Postby Quelen Dran'Sora on May 23rd, 2011, 4:00 pm

Continuing to sing the tune of the song Quelen slowed in her walking, and then started to dance to the tempo of the music. Each beat brought a movement from her feet or arms, a step, twist, twirl, or hop. It wasn't the same movements as she had been learning, but it was inspired by them. She was playing with both music and dance, putting her own spirit into them.

Coming around the corner with a twirl she paused as she heard a soft voice humming along with her, and she stopped in her dancing and singing to smile and bow politely to the blonde haired Konti she found there, "Ah, hello. I hope I wasn't bothering you with my singing," even though Quelen doubted it, since it seemed the Konti had been humming with her, she still thought it was polite to ask, "I don't think we've met yet," she continued to smile pleasantly as she approached the Konti, and held out her one right hand as a greeting, "I'm Quelen, and you are?"

Singing in the Streets (Shri)

As she turned the corner, Shri listened as the voice got closer. A Charoda was singing the melody, and she noticed the newly-found Charoda was dancing. She watched as the Charoda brought movement to her feet, and Shri became aware that the female in front of her was missing an arm. Curiosty filled her mind, as she was getting closer to the dancing one.

Shri gently looked up at the Charoda, who was close to being a foot taller than herself. "You were not bothering me at all." She grinned, as she tried to copy the Charoda's dance. She stopped her feet, as she felt she was being a little silly. Shri took Quelen's hand, shaking it lightly. "Nice to meet you Quelen," She let go of her hand,"I'm Shrijonya, but please, call me by Shri."

Quelen's face lit up with a huge smile as she saw the Konti do a little dance before introducing herself. Her excitement was clear as she spoke quickly and energetically in response to Shri's introduction, "Nice to meet you Shri. Do you like to sing and dance too?"

Kicking off with her left foot Quelen happily twirled on her right, keeping her arms tight against her body so she wouldn't hit Shri, and gave a musical laugh, "It's always so nice to meet someone else who sings and dances," stopping her twirl so she was facing Shri again Quelen continued to smile brightly at the petite Konti, "Especially a landwalker," she paused and thought a moment, "Are Konti landwalkers? Blythe told me that your scales let you breath under water, right? Did you come from the water, and move onto the land, or is it the other way around?"

Shri laughed joyfully, as Quelen smiles. "I love to sing and dance!" She replied to her, as the Charoda does a little dance. Reaching her hands high above her head, Shri connects them and spins slowly. She sighs happily, with a grin on her face.

"Of course Kontis' are landwalkers!" She pauses for a quick second, extending her arms, "You see many walking on land, now, don't you?" She laughs, while she spins multiple times. She stops, and answers Quelens next question. "Kontis' don't breathe through their scales, silly! We breathe through our gills!" She steps with her right leg, and extends her arms in a diaganol, then points to her neck to show Quelen where her gills are. "And I'm not sure about that last question, though" She pauses, and taps her forehead, thinking. "But I do know, that Kontis' prefer to give birth in a body of water. So I guess that we do come from the water, and move onto the land!" She laughs, then carefully, pretends to swim in the air.

Singing in the Streets (Shri)

Postby Quelen Dran'Sora on May 26th, 2011, 6:14 pm

Quelen couldn't help but laugh in delight at Shri's energy and friendliness, even if she was a little bit confusing. Though Quelen probably wasn't being the most clear either. Still, she looked on with interest as Shri showed her her gills, and then gave a musical giggle as Shri started to act like she was swimming on land.

"Well, I walk on land too, but I'm not a landwalker," Quelen tilted her head, trying to think of a way to explain, "Landwalker is one who spends most of their life on the land. I thought Konti were landwalkers, but you can swim in water like Charoda, right?"

Suddenly Quelen's eyes widened as she realized something, and she gave a soft gasp, "Wait, you said you are born in water? Do you come from eggs too? I'd heard some landwalkers carry their babies around inside of them as they grow, and then they tear their way out! Is that true?"

Quelen was wanting to sing and dance more with this Konti, but so much of what Shri was saying was bringing up more and more questions in the Charoda's head.

"Yes we can swim and breathe underwater" Shri points to her gills again, then to her webbed fingers. "Yes, we were born in the water" She nods her head gently. "But, actually, I do not know how to answer that question of your's, because, well," She pauses just slightly, raises her arms and shrugs, when she continues "I do not know!" A small giggle came from her as she set her arms back down.

"Did you know, that I have only seen two Charodas' in my lifetime? You would be the second. But I barely know anything about them, other then how they look. I've heard that Charodas' skin is smooth like rubber, would you mind if I felt your's?" She gives a small, but appreciative, smile to Quelen.

Quelen tilted her head to the side as Shri expressed he lack of knowledge, and then smiled kindly, "It's alright, I don't know either!" she joined the Konti in giggling then, "I'll just have to find someone else who does know some other time."

"I'm not surprised," Quelen replied to Shri's next question with a bit of a grin, "It's a very long swim to get here from Charbosi!" she gave another giggle, and then offered her arm which still retained a hand to the Konti, "Of course! Maybe in return, I could feel your scales? I've been wondering if they felt like fish scales or something different."
