The Lhatvian was delivered a wide eyed look when he pointed at her and declared her kelvic. That look, once accompanied by the arch of her eyebrows, was easily translated into any language. It meant: no shit, jack. Needless to say, she maintained that expression through his announcement that she was naked. The corners of her mouth were twitching in threat of another smirk, delicate features overlaid by skin virtually untouched by the light of day and so nearly translucent. The shadows of bones could be glimpsed beneath, enhancing the tattered china doll image. Her smirk broke free the moment he blushed, teacup shoulders shaking lightly with silent laughter as he stripped off his robe. That laughter erupted into startled splutters when he tossed the robe at her, dropping her pack to awkwardly catch the article of clothing. “Really?” Suspicion narrowed lightless eyes, but she made no attempt to return the robe to him. Rather she clutched at it, fingering the material between her fingers, admiring in much the same manner as the falcon had admired the jade kina. “The coin’s worth that much?” She fell silent, probably contemplating how many more jade coins she could steal from foolish humans who let them drop in the street. Her accent was decidedly foreign and far, far away, her Common base but her voice throaty and deceptively soft as down. It grew muffled as she spoke while pulling his robe over her head. “I’m from up there.” |
