[Alenias]

Season of Summer, Day 8, 511 AV

It was early morning, the first rays of sun just showing in the small clearing where they had spent the night. Sitting up from the soft forest floor the Kelvic gave a slow stretch as she blinked her eyes open. Smiling up at the morning songs of the birds above Alenias transformed in a swirl of light and flew up to join them.

Fluttering from branch to branch she chirped and sang with the birds as she foraged up something to have for breakfast. Some fresh seeds and flowers were incredibly tasty, and it didn't take long for the blue jay to fill her little belly.

Once she was finished she fluttered back down to the ground, transforming back to her human form and pulling her cloak back around her. As she did her eyes fell on the sleeping form of Nex and she paused. She'd never noticed before, but there was something really nice about how he looked...

Curious about this new revelation Alenias crouched down low to the ground and hopped a couple times until she was next to the wolf Kelvic. Staring down at him she wondered what the change could be. He didn't really look any different... Leaning forward slightly she reached out a slender hand and lightly poked a single finger against Nex's cheek.

The forest around him was accented by vivid greens, and blues of all hues, the sunlight coming from above, illuminating a path glowing with bright golden light. Such was the light in the wood that it seemed enchanted, thin wisps of light trailing upwards, making their own way around the weave of branches above only after several moments deciding to settle as a blanket of on the grass before him. Mist breathed from the leaves that stocked the trees branches, and with a rhythmic pulse exposed the fine water vapor through the pores in the leaves, slowly thickening in the air above him, and slowly made its way downwards. The strange mist felt oddly cool against his skin, and caused a strange tingling all across his body. Oddly enough he could feel the unusual mist exerting a strange pressure against his cheek before it disappeared and then the pressure came back again, more insistently this time, and then he opened his eyes.

Bright light from the outside world temporarily blinded him, and he squinted for a few moments, trying to make sense of everything. Had he been in a dream? He must have been, but it had seemed to be so real hadn't it? No matter what was that strange feeling against his cheek he wondered, as the rush of thoughts went through his mind and he turned his head to orient on Alenias. Blinking his eyes several times to help them adjust to the stinging sunlight, his eyes rested on hers, and he ran his large hand over his face to clear the sleepiness from them before raising to a sitting position. " Good morning Alenias, what brought you to rise so early? "

Alenias quickly withdrew her hand as Nex opened his eyes, tucking it in the space between her legs and stomach, and gave a little hop back as he rubbed at his face. Still crouching she watched him intently, still trying to figure out why he looked so nice suddenly. When he spoke she couldn't help but smile, as his voice was nice too.

It was a few seconds of Alenias smiling down at Nex before she realized the Kelvic had asked her a question. Giving a small shrug in response she replied, "Was hungry, and wanted to fly with the other birds for a while."

Hopping back next to the now sitting Nex Alenias peered intently at him for a few moments, and then asked, "Why do you look nice today?"

He didn't really look any different to Alenias, but maybe he had done something last night? Eagerly she awaited Nex's answer.

Stretching out a little bit to wipe away the last legs of drowsiness from his bones, and smiled slightly in the warm sunlight enjoying it as it soaked into his bones. As he stretched out his fingers he kept his eyes on Alenias, and nodded when she answered his question.

" Oh yes I didn't think about that, hopefully there were some good berries out their today " he said even though his own experience with berries was not so flavorful.

Her next following question confused him and he cocked his head slightly to the side as if thinking what she could possibly mean by that. He had just woke up, not really had time to groom himself, and his shoes where still caked from mud caused by trekking through the forest.

" Uh... Um.. Perhaps it’s this summer weather doing so " he offered though he really had no clue.

Alenias simply nodded in response to Nex's hope, remembering how much he didn't like berries, but it wasn't what she wanted to know. When he finally did answer Alenias tilted her head to the side, and then looked up at the sky, "The weather?"

Alenias stared up at the sky for a moment, and then returned her dark eyes to Nex, her lips pursed in concentration as she looked him over again. Leaning closer to get a better look she paused as she caught a smell on the air. It was a very nice smell, better than even the sweet bread, and the Kelvic turned her head back and forth in an effort to find where the smell was coming from, "What's that smell?" she asked softly.

After a few turns of her head she paused, and then leaned forward. Putting her hands on Nex's shoulders she leaned close to him and took a deep breath before exclaiming, "It's you! You smell good!"

Smiling up at Nex she let the scent coming off of him fill her nose. It pricked lightly at her memory, but was something from a very long time ago. Instead of worrying about it though she just enjoyed smelling and looking at Nex, her hands applying little pressure to his shoulders as she leaned against him, and after a few moments she asked, "Did you take a special bath last night?" maybe that was it, there was little else the Kelvic knew that could change how someone looked and smelled.

Now that he thought about it, blaming it on the weather it sounded quite silly. How would the weather make me look any better, but who knew, maybe Alenias was sensitive to the weather and it made him look better. It was all just so confusing to him to be talking about at so early in the morning, and he thought that maybe his drowsiness could be the reason he could not understand what she was asking of him.

" Smell? " he asked puzzled and then took a big whiff of the air, picking up every scent in the air, and pausing for a time to sort through them all. There was of course the sweet crispness that the leaves instilled into the air, the smell of fresh earth near them, and there was the overpowering scent of his own odor, which told him that he would need a bath sometime today. Besides his own smell he could also smell Alenias which was much more different than his scent signature, and smelled much better in comparison.

Suddenly her hands where on his shoulders and his golden eyes when wide as he looked up at Alenias. How could she think I smelled goo? Perhaps she just smelled herself, but she smelled him awful closely. Maybe there was wrong with her nose, or maybe she just preferred other scents than what he did. Yet another very confusing thing, and Nex felt his head start to ache will the sheer unusualness of the situation. Nothing made sense anymore to him.

Still unsure of what was going on, he smiled back at Alenias if only to placate her and whatever wild fantasy had come over her, and shifted his weight to his hands behind him so he could lean a bit backwards and give them both a little bit of breathing room, and make the pressure on his shoulder more comfortable. Why where her hands on my shoulders anyways he wondered but then he figured it must be due to whatever she was smelling. I wish I could smell this phantom smell he grumbled in his head.

" I did not take a bath last night, but I was thinking of taking one soon in a nearby stream, maybe your smelling yourself, you smell pretty good " he offered to her question. Wonder what in the world is a special bath he mused and he imagined it being jumping into a crystal blue stream filled with the best scents like deer and rabbits. That thought brought a smile to his face as he looked back down into Alenias's eyes.

Nex's comment about Alenias smelling good made Alenias happy, almost as happy as when Aello told her she did well, and she smiled brightly at Nex. With that though came a desire, one that didn't make much sense to Alenias, but it was there.

Tilting her head to the other side Alenias regarded Nex for a few silent moments before asking, "Do you think I look good Nex?"

She couldn't explain why if asked, but Alenias had the desire now to have Nex look at her, and like how she looked. It was important for some reason, and was accompanied by a feeling of warmth throughout her body. Not hot, like what you felt during Summer, but pleasantly warm like she felt when she was close to Aello, but different somehow. It was lower, more near her stomach than her chest.

He was happy that his response seemed to satisfy her and relaxed that the confusing questions where over he breathed out a sigh of relief and looked at Alenias wile spreading his legs out and crossing them. It felt very warm outside but pleasantly so to his pleasure. Another question from Alenias broke the silence, but thankfully this one he noticed was not about him.

"Of course, you look very good " Nex said with a smile. Now that he actually saw her from closer than he'd ever been before he could tell that she was much cleaner than he was, which could explain why she also smelled nicer. Along with her cleanliness she also looked healthy to boot, and that in Nex's eyes was what looking good meant. After all what else mattered?

[Alenias]

Again Nex's words brought a bright smile to Alenias' face, and more pleasant warmth to her body. With that her instincts kicked up the next thing to do, for whatever she was doing, and that was to go somewhere with him. Well, he'd said he was thinking of taking a bath, right?

Taking hold of one of Nex's hands with both of her own Alenias gave a little tug on the larger Kelvic, "Come on Nex, let's go find that stream together and take a bath," she smiled at him, and then remembered something she'd heard at the place Siriana worked when one of the strange ladies there was leading a man away for a bath, "I'll scrub your back, and you can scrub any part of me you want," she paused for a moment, and then remembered to give a wink and giggle like the woman had.

He responded to her tug almost without thinking standing up, and then smiling down at her. Wait why am I smiling, suppose her smiling is infectious if that is even possible he mused wondering how might a smile be infectious, unless Alenias knew hypnotism, but he thought that only dealed if they spoke. Perhaps he would ask her if she practiced the magic, wait probably not, maybe she just makes me smile. Wait, what did she ask, a bath? A bath sounded nice right about now, and perhaps it would help him to smell even better than he did right now. he thought as he agreed with the idea walking along with Alenias, and letting her lead the way.

She even offered to scrub her back, that was nice of her he thought but he wondered what she meant by letting him scrub her wherever he wanted, and her wink and giggle only served to confuse him more. Perhaps she wanted him to scrub her hair along with her back? It seemed to fit in his head, and he continued to follow Alenias, fully comfortable to let her lead the way, and rather looking forward to washing all the dirt off of him.
