Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on June 14th, 2011, 3:15 pm

Jaelyn's eyebrow quirked slightly as Fraha pulled out the short blades, and then she smiled softly at the woman's question, "I would be up for a spar, and I promise you I would not harm you enough to kill you. I will do my best to keep from even giving you a cut as well."

Returning to her spear and helmet Jaelyn placed the metal cover back over her head, slipping the strap under her chin, and then with some effort she pulled the spear free once more. Holding it in a more choked grip, her arm wrapped around halfway up the wooden shaft, she turned to face the other young woman once more, "If you are not too tired afterwards I would be happy to show you how to use a shield. Shall we?" and with that she took up a ready stance, shield out in front of her and her spear angled out to her right.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on June 14th, 2011, 8:51 pm

OOC/ do you have a pic or, a description of your armor please? just to have a better idea.

Relieved by her words, Fraha giggled to Jaelyn as Excitement would start to rise. She checked her headband and pulled the hair back again just to make sure it won't interfere. As Jaelyn started to prepare and said about the shield she pulled her trousers a bit higher and tighned the sandals so they wouldn't slip. Sure, if we're bout alive said Fraha joking. Fraha would tell that just to put a bit of challange in it, she didn't mean to harm nor she wanted to be harmed.

She was actually kind of afraid of the conseguences that could happen. Her bright eyes weren't too trained to see in such darkness so she could easily miss something coming or Jaelyn could not see a part of her since Fraha was dressed black. Things could end pretty bad for Fraha and in some moment she asked herself why did she do it. But then she simply thought that it's better to have some training with normal people, that would stop in case of risk that being attacked suddenly and not being able to defend and eventually die. She found confort in thinking these things because it helped her to find the reason in what's she's doing and concentrate well without useless emotions to distract her.

So she placed the hands on the hilts, the left on the left and the right on the right, thumbs facing awaz from the body. She slid out the blades while taking in a lot of air and holding it. As her weapons were fully out, Fraha lowed both hands causing the wakizashi to point to the sky, with the bladen part facing behind Fraha, hidden by her forearms since she used to withdraw them that way. Fraha exiled the air from the mouth as her left foot slid forward causing her to lower her stance. She also tilted the back forward and twisted the hips 45 degrees right to acquire the solid fight stance, ready to jump in any direction, to charge and to defend in case.

As she spinned the left Wakizashi to a forward position, the one where the thumb points to the blade and not outside she renembered a lot of her father's words Stand taller, the feet must be parallel, lower the elbow Fraha Sentences like those were tempesting her mind so she shook the away as she aquired her guard stance.

The left arm was placed in front of Fraha, pointing up the sky a 20 inch Blade, held vertically with a half extended arm. The right arm was turned as if Fraha was about to drink from a glass, holding the Weapon horrizontally with the thumb pointing out so that the weapon would be placed steady on the forearm protecting or attacking. Since she didn't know how to dual wield she had to use that tactic, but she was there learning. I am ready said she serious, a rare thing for Fraha to be actually serious, but she needed to concentrate.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on June 15th, 2011, 6:26 pm

Jaelyn silently watched as Fraha withdrew her weapons and took her stance. She'd never seen anyone fight in a style like that, and that told the Squire that this would be a good learning experience.

When the other young woman declared herself ready Jaelyn gave a small nod, and then began moving forward. She didn't dare charge in the dark of the night, not trusting herself not to see a stone or dip that could cause her to stumble, and so she was cautious in each movement she made. Combined with the narrowed vision of her helmet Jaelyn was quickly gaining an appreciation of just how different fighting at night could be.

As Jaelyn drew close to Fraha she brought her spear around in a quick circle, aiming to catch her partner on the side with the shaft of the spear. Nothing complex, just a simple straightforward attack to help Jaelyn gauge the knowledge and skill of her sparring partner.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on June 15th, 2011, 9:05 pm

As Fraha watched that armored figure armed with a long spear getting closer, she gulped since the look was frightening. Step after step she watched her getting closer while she decided to stand still. At half way Fraha made tapped the fingertips on the hilts cloth to then clench it more tightly. Her legs started to flex lowing and lifting her upper body very slightly, almost invisibly so that she would be ready to jump or crouch at any time.

Fraha expected an attack from above to the ground, but that was a mistake for two reasons. The first, that was how her father used to start duels, and more then one time he said to Fraha to not expect it, but habits are habits and Fraha was aware of it. The second reason for that expectation to be a mistake was that Jaelyn swinged the spear aiming at Fraha's right side, which would hit the belly if she wouldn't move. Fraha saw that coming thanks to the metallic part of the blade enlighted by the light of the moon but felt like the nearest blade wouldn't have enough force to block it, Fraha wasn't that strong.

Fraha tilted her entire body backwards and to the left in a 45 degree angle and pushed with the left foot in that direction, doing the same with the right one. During so she thought she would have better chance to evade the horrizontal incoming blade. The action went succesfull and as a result it looked like a fast step back leaving Fraha standing feet united as if she was standing on a small surface. Her arms went instinctively nearer the body causing her right hand to touch her chest ad the left hand to tilt with the blade which was now slightly turned to Fraha's right. She watched as the spear continued it's trajectory and as it had passed Fraha's body she decided to attack.

The right weapon was pressd again her forearm, even since the spear now was at Fraha's left she felt that she could dare a safe attack. She pointed the left blade to the ground and held it centrally, in order to protect herself vertically against another horrizontal swing like the first one.At the same time she flexed quickly with both knees and lowed her entire upper body as if she was falling on the ground. She then pressed hard with the right leg while the left one raised up and went forward. This looked like a low jump forward in Jaelyn's direction. In mid air Fraha raised the left arm till he almost touched her biceps with her chin and raised the blade making her arms cross between them and turning the blade almost behin her shoulder. Ready to strike, guarded by the rightWakizashi on the left side Fraha landed with the front foot to around 10 inches from Jaelyn's left one. Fraha was low and the strike was heading to the partners left side, in the spleen zone, under the heart.

Her eyes were still and deeply concentrated, not so much at what was the partner doing but on her whole body, the muscles, the grab on the hilts, the stability of her landing foot and the position of the one that had to land yet. Hoping to strike the blow but, only at the armored part, Fraha made her left arm lower as the blade followed her movement untill it was in Fraha's sight again. Her front right knee was now pressed on her solar plexus and so Fraha immediatly lowed the head and rolled behind Jaelyn using the inertia of the rear, left leg. She tilted the blades to ease the roll and don't get cut and as her right shoulder touched the ground during the roll she relasex the body to make gravity do the rest.

Fraha turned quickly to Jaelyn, still crouched.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on June 16th, 2011, 4:41 pm

Jaelyn was a bit impressed with Fraha's dodge of her strike, it seemed the young woman was very agile, and it meant they should have a good spar. Fraha's immediate move forward only solidified this thought in Jaelyn's mind.

The flash of Fraha's twin blades in the moonlight drew Jaelyn's eyes for a moment, but she forced them back down to watch Fraha herself. The darkness made the desire to just watch the weapons all the more tempting, but Jaelyn knew it was best to keep your eye on your opponent in case they feinted. Thankfully this allowed her to notice Fraha's incoming attack from the side, and bring her shield around the catch the short blade with a solid clang.

Jaelyn turned as Fraha tumbled past her, keeping her left foot in place and just swinging her right around to make the turn quicker. Seeing Fraha still crouched down Jaelyn brought her spear up to point above her own right shoulder, and then down in a diagonal sweep that went from right to left. Normally she might have gone for a thrust instead, but with Fraha not wearing armor and the spear not being a training one Jaelyn didn't want to risk skewering her sparring partner. As she struck she kept her shield firmly in her left hand and on her left side, ready to bring it to around to try and block Fraha's next attack.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on June 17th, 2011, 2:06 pm

Satisfaited by her actions Fraha was taking a slight break waiting for her opponement to attack again, she then realized that she was staying in defence and not taking initiative. Fraha was feeling confident in her actions and the thought of a friendly, yet serious spar made her excite. She did it often in past and always it made her good.

But her confidence fell down as she saw Jaelyn turning fast. Despite the armor it looked like she could move very freely, too freely. Fraha was pointing on agility because of her lack of protection, but the spear was long and her movements quick. Too quick, in fact, from Fraha's left the long metallic piece was heading to Fraha's head, not good.

Still crouched, Fraha's main instinct was to dodge but the attack was now too close. a crouched body was more volume to move away and the times were slower, Fraha should habve standing. Instead she raised the right arm, where the Wakizashi was attached to her forearm, and tilted it so it would perpendicularly to the incoming attack. She also helped her herself with the other arm, placing the other Wakizashi on the first one, flatly but tilted.

As the spear hit the blades, Fraha went back, loosing balance, and stepped a bit back with her left foot. She could feel the hit on her forearms, the vibration of both blades, and the pain of that hit caused her to grin her teeth, pain was angering. She then decided to make through it and from her crouched position, blocking the spear between two blades, Pushed with all her force against the blade to send it back where it came from.

She didn't know what would she do, but that effort was enough to make her up.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on June 18th, 2011, 1:44 pm

Jaelyn was impressed as Fraha blocked her strike with her blades. It seemed the other young woman was quite skilled, and strong as she pushed back against the shaft of Jaelyn's spear. Having already been on the way back up, the spear went wider than Jaelyn intended with Fraha's extra strength behind it, and it threw Jaelyn a bit off of balance.

Unable to bring her spear back around for a decent strike Jaelyn instead choice to take a couple quick steps forward, bringing herself close to Fraha, and then lashed out with a bash using her shield. She didn't go full strength, not wanting to accidentally break her sparring partner's nose or anything, but enough that it was quick and would definitely be felt if it landed.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on June 18th, 2011, 2:21 pm

As she saw Jaelyn's spear heading back Fraha felt good, proud of herself. She had some strenght too if needed.
Fraha then decided to take the opportunity and attack quickly with the left hand. She looked once again at the spear, not rappresenting a problem at the moment, and charged an attack with her left hand.

But suddenly the armored woman in front of her charged with what? The shield! Fraha didn't consider it at all. She would try to leap away but her balance was way too far to the front. She would block it but her left hand was high charging and the right one was still high, near her forehead, still returning from the previous block. Too late, the shield was close.

A deaf thud spread in the area as the shield hit Frahas entire upper body. She spread her eyes as the dense feeling of a hard object, pushing at great speed against her, compressed her skin, muscles and nerves. She could feel the shield on her lowest ribbs and the ankle bones, echoing on them.

Fraha was agile, but not stable, not even a little, because of her weight and because of her stances. So as the shiel hit her she instinctively and naturally had a great push on her, a push, that made her loose the left handed weapon and made her entirely loose contact with the floor. A loud, short gasp echoed out of Fraha's vocal chord spread in the zone as the torso went back faster than the legs could handle and made Fraha fly a meter away before she landing on the ground on her back, hitting the back of her head, luckily on the grass.

The breath was short, irregular and the pulse was high, for generall adrenalyne and for the shock of a recieved hit. She probably had a second, maybe two to rest, she knew that and was hoping to have enough force to react in brief time.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on June 20th, 2011, 8:19 pm

There was the satisfying resistance of her shield striking home, followed by the sound of a solid thud. A faint smile curled Jaelyn's lips at the fact that she was seemingly getting better, but it was quickly wiped away as the resistance vanished and another thud, the sound of a body hitting the ground, sounded.

For a moment Jaelyn wondered had dodged back, as the young woman had seemed very agile, but a quick glance around her shield revealed laying on her back a little ways away. Jaelyn gave a soft gasp, dropped her spear, and then trotted up to the young woman's side, "Fraha, are you hurt? I am sorry, I did not mean to strike so hard!"

Against someone else she would not have worried, and would have kept her guard up, but almost everyone else Jaelyn had sparred with were fellow Squires. They she rarely held back against unless it was clear she outmatched them, but as unsure as she was about Fraha's training she didn't want to accidentally cause her more harm than a few bruises or small cuts.

Kneeling down on the ground she quickly began to look Fraha over. Any sign of bleeding, something broken, or just generally out of place. Though her shield was still strapped to her arm Jaelyn was making no effort to keep it in a defensive position, not expecting Fraha to be capable of attacking anytime soon.

Knight Training (Fraha)

Postby Fraha on June 20th, 2011, 9:20 pm

Steps of Jaelyn getting closer at first made Fraha think of an imminent attack so she immediatly raised the right arm before the chest in order to protect herself somehow. But then She was near Fraha apologing. She breathed a couple of times before she could feel stability in her body. Raising an eyebrow and smirking [OOC as in the pic :P] she said It's ok, i've had similar hits quite often now, no need to worry Jealyn. She was glad her partner didn't kill her but a bit frustrated that she couldn't avoid the bash and of the mercy shown. It made somehow feel Fraha inferior, a child again pitted by the father or the stronger brothers.

In that moment, Fraha realized something she didn't give weight for a long time. Jaelyn stopped suddenly, without even making a fake final attack to show that Fraha would loose, she assumed directly her winning by stopping the spar. That made Fraha meditate. Of course she wasn't angry with Jaelyn, she had made an emphatic gest of concern and surely didn't intend to offend. And actually she didn't.

Fraha quickly looked behind Jaelyn and spread her eyes in horror WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT? shouted she pointing in the direction between Jaelyn and her spear, hoping that she would turn to look. Technically Fraha's raised eyebrows, spread eyes, and reentrant jaw, mixed with the suddeness of the action should make it work and give her some time.

She quickly rolled sideways,in the opposite direction, regardless of Jealyn falling for it or not. Once Fraha was one roll distant from her, she flicked the right leg over the left on and up giving herself a rotation that made her waist follow the leg which was drawing a circle if seen from the sky. She then raised the other leg once the first had made an entire circle and pushed with the left arm on the ground, near her waist. The knowledge of her body and the several lifelong repetitions made her enter in harmony and, thanks to the inertia of her long legs she managed ,in result, to make a quick stand up that looked like a dance move. The true nature of this move was to protect her self from any incoming attacks by having the legs rotating.

Fraha stood up and checked the headband to be steady as a smirk widened on her face. we're not done yet are we? said she trying somehow to sound badass. She was now standing a bit humped, with the legs a little widened in front and back, knees flexed. Fraha had an instant to decide if let Jaelyn take the spear and regain the position or attack her now. But she waited, not wanting to seem a bastard who uses the others concern at proper advantage. She stayed still waiting while switching the Wakizashi from right to left hand. Now more concentrated more determinated and less hesitant
