Where is a good place to get an avatar? Can people use photos from the Internet (IE Stock images, etc.)?
I just want to know.

A popular source is Deviant Art. People tend use either manga drawings or models.
Stock images are also popular. There is an entire category on deviant art.
My favorite sources are European models and actors... but that's just me.
If you need any help cutting a picture down to a proper 200x200 size for your avi I can do that for you.
Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any more questions. Or if you need help finding a picture, I'm sure I can rustle one up for you as long as you give me a description of what you want.
