--Spring 53rd--
Spirit sat before the fire in the middle of the various shops, attempting to bring up the courage to actually go into one. Her plan was to go and buy a horse, and she knew exactly where to go. She was actually facing the building, as it sat across from the fire. She also knew what kind of horse she wanted. A Windrunner, a good horse, but cheap as well, and she wanted one that had wasn't bad tempered. Sure, she could deal with it while standing, but on it's back... that made her a little iffy. What made her even more uncertain was approaching the owner of the store, Daluna Coolwater. She'd heard from Lusina that the woman was very nice, and the two were very good friends, but still... her shyness always got the better of her at times like this. She cursed it, annoyed at herself, but continued to be rooted to the bench she was sitting on.
The Vantha sighed, realizing she couldn't sit there all day. She had to go and get that horse, and now was better than never. Sighing deeply, she forced herself up from the bench and walked around the fire to go to the shop. Before the door she paused, about to panic and run away, but took a deep breath. Then she noticed the elk standing outside of the doorway. Either he was for sale, or was Daluna's. She was sorely tempted to pet him, and procrastinate longer, but she didn't know if his owner would approve, so opened the door and walked in.
"Afternoon" Was the call she heard as she walked in. The woman at the front had black hair, like most Vantha, and had a friendly, but slightly shy look in her eyes. Something Spirit could relate to. Gathering up her courage, and trying to act less shy than she felt, the girl replied with an equally polite tone:
"Afternoon to you too. I was wondering if I could buy a horse... a Windrunner" she asked, deciding to get straight to asking what she wanted. Feeling that she should go a little more in-depth, she added
"I was hoping it could be even-tempered... oh, and I needed tack..." She looked at the woman with a smile, hoping her request was alright. She wasn't quite sure how much the combined horse-and-tack would cost, but hoped it wouldn't exceed the 100 gold mizas she had on hand.
"Ahh, ok. I think I have someone you might like. She's maybe 5 years, so young, but she's nice and good for beginners. And with tack, I'm assuming you wanted saddlebags too?" Daluna asked with a smile, apparently knowing exactly what she had on stock at the time. Spirit was glad the woman sold tack, since she hadn't been quite sure where else to go for it. The Vantha girl nodded, since she had been looking for saddlebags too. Not too big, but they were very useful anyways.
The older woman left out the back for a few minutes, as that was apparently where she kept the horses. She returned, carrying a saddle, bridle, and saddlebags in her arms, then deposited them on the desk in the room. Leaving without a word again, she returned after a slightly longer time leading a pure white horse into the room. It was magnificent, well kept, and looked as calm as Daluna had described. Spirit grinned widely, and held out her hand for the horse to sniff, which it did, happily. After being accepted by the creature, the girl began to rub it's head with one hand, while taking the lead with another. It looked at her happily, enjoying the attention.
"So... the total comes to 66 gold mizas!" Daluna said, smiling, watching Spirit enthusiastically pet her new horse. The younger nodded, and turning her attention back to the woman, handed her the money. "Here, I'll put on the tack for you..." She continued, and while Spirit held the horse, the shop owner put on the new tack with practiced ease. With a smile, she finished "Thanks, oh, and her name's Silver!" Nodding, and waving goodbye, Spirit led her new found horse out of the shop. It was easy going, perfectly willing to go where she wanted, perfect for a novice rider. It made Spirit happy that she'd been able to go through all this without a hitch, and come out with exactly what she wanted. Rubbing her hand across Silver's soft neck, she smiled widely. OOCI was given permission to self-moderate by Noblesse ^-^ |
