Kiara tended not to focus on the crowd in the tavern that much. They were off in a corner alone. They would be able to see anyone attempting to approach the table from a decent distance. If any kind of threat presented it's self her or Eryss would undoubtedly be able to react well before they would be in danger. Even without her specifically looking into the crowd it was indeed hard to miss Cade. If his extreme height and wide shoulders did not cause him to stick out like a sore thumb the fact that the crowd literally parted for him certainly would have.

On most occasions Kiara would have ignored the idea of a toast but for some reason this time she didn't mind all that much. She had begun to raise her mug filled with water when the other white haired person in their party slipped into a seat at the table. Like her it wasn't hard for him to appear without someone noticing. It was something the two of them had in common. Without really speaking she raised her glass to toast again but she halted yet another time as the farm girl weaved her way in and out of the crowd before reaching their table.

The assassin realized after a few moments that it had been futile to attempt to be like the others. Someone unfamiliar uttering Cade's name brought her to full attention however. Her free hand had a dagger drawn and hidden under the table in a mere breath's time. Questioningly she turned her gaze to Cade. If he gave her the wrong signal she would be over the table and have her dagger buried in this large man's neck before he would be able to react. Seeing Cade not tense up she eased her own muscles, slipping her dagger back into it's sheath. She turned her attention and listened to Eryss as he began his speech.

Cade's arm extended out slightly as his gigantic hand rested upon the farm girl's lap, greeting her to the table his way. He would of given Corinth more attention but his name was spoken in his native tongue and his right hand instinctively went for his weapon as his eyes finally made contact with the man the words belonged to. The barbarian took a deep breath and released the grasp of the hilt giving Mok, his cousin a questioning look.

" Sit my Cousin" He ordered his younger kinsmen " I will catch your tale once my friend here has finished what is needed to be said" Cade assured while sliding Mok his very own horn of mead in friendship and acceptance showing the others around that he was welcomed here at the table.

Another familiar site caught his eye, a girl from awhile back was sitting at the bar. They met not under the normal circumstances he would with other women, the thought making Cade grin at his failure. Their eyes locked, and wanting to keep his options open or just curious to how she been, the barbarian's big meat hooked raised to the air waving Canali over to their table.

The same time he was waving Canali over, another stranger caught his eyes from the corner where he noticed gambling was going on. The man was the obvious winner, for sure he had coin in his pockets and Cade thought it be best to keep an eye where he ventured about the bar. Maybe after Eyrss had said his peice he will go "introduce" himself to this man of good fortune. Or he would send the white haired beauty to make first contact. Either way, a plan was in the works as his mind spun scenarious on how to deal with him. A man so oblivious to sunberth sure would make for easy pickings.

Cade offering his horn meant nothing at all to him, but Mok was no idiot. The cup was a symbol of acceptance and he could not dismiss such a gesture. Mok nodded and then took a large gulp from the horn. This was not how Mok envisioned meeting his long lost cousin, but he would humor him anyways. Leaning towards his cousin, Mok whispered quietly, “Listen, Cade, we must talk alone— ” Mok stopped mid-sentence seeing that Cade was scoping out the women at the bar and not paying the slightest attention to Mok. “It is okay cousin. We shall talk afterwards, as you have said.”

Mok then turned his attention to those sitting around him. “I am Mok... Cade’s kinsman.” Each one sitting at the table introduced themselves in their own way. Mok did not try to remember their names; there was no need, because he knew he would never see these fools again. Mok remained silent for a while and just listened. Mok’s common speech was not that good, but he could understand every word spoken at the table. As the conversation continued, Mok categorized each individual person in his mind.

The white haired woman was young, beautiful, and seemingly innocent, but Mok knew that looks were deceiving. Every time she reached for her drink one could see all the scars on her hands and arms. This was proof of either stupidity or that she was a wielder of some sort of blade, possibly knives or daggers.

The so called leader hid in the darkness behind a tattered cloak. His hands were wrapped in bandages, but Mok noticed several burn marks under the sleeves. Mok had no idea what to make of him, but he knew this guy was not normal. There was something eerie and dangerous about the frizzled looking man, and Mok decided it was best not to find out.

The pale, white haired man left Mok feeling very uneasy. Mok knew that the man’s demeanor was very deceiving. He was seemingly calm and carefree, but there was edginess in his words. The skinny man’s facial expressions were devious and mischievous. Mok did not like him at all.

The other woman was quiet and seemingly timid. She had noticeably big eyes that surely pierced through souls. Mok felt very uncomfortable making eye contact with her, but he dared not look away until she did.

Sensing the new myrian "Mok's" discomfort as he was glanced at, Antar smiled a small smile and winked good naturedly at the man... if only to set him at further unease.

It was interesting to view new people and to create connections; determine who was useful or was not. Whom were worth his time. Not to get him wrong, he had no romantic designs or inclinations towards males , his own preferences ran towards those of the female persuasion. But with guys he could trust he did enjoy a sort of comraderie so long as the boundaries were kept.

Simple things like; no stealing from each other. Or spitting on him.

This 'Mok" character seemed a lot like his kinsman: barbaric, but predictably trustworthy so long as you didn't cross him. Which was good, because Noth was the same way. Sipping his water pleasantly Antar remained quiet, merely nodding his assent to the idea it might be best to form a group of numbers.

There was a bit of truth that there was safety in numbers.

But there was also a truth there was a danger as well... when you began to trust people, even a little, there was always a chance you might be the one to end up knifed in the back somewhere down the line. It was a hazard of being in the business of being in the illegal business. However, to some degree it was more important to consder that such hazards were just a fact of life whereever , and whatever one did when they joined groups of any nature.

He'd watch Mok closely in the future, but not any closer then he would the others. It would only be a matter of time, before they all got to know each other well... all the good with all the bad. Such things were inevitable, and the true test of any group of any size, was if they would weather the bad and still get along.

Slightly disturbed at the behavior of the man who ordered a drink, Canali met his eyes without blunder. A nervousness settled in her stomach, bubbling like butterflies. Who was this man? Nervousness shifting her glass in her hands, Canali couldn't hide the relief which flooded her when he walked away. Cautiously, she lifted the ale glass to her lips, sipping delicately and savoring the burn which tickled her throat.

Spotting a waving Cade, Canali grasped her beer and slid from the stool. Her clad feet slapped gently on the ground as she shuffled through the group of people either making their way to the bar or dancing to what little music a drunken fool was playing. Bumping into something close to her knee, Canali mumbled an apology and glanced down. A person was lying in a drunken stupor on the floor, nearly passed out and giggling hysterically. Shaking her head, Canali continued on.

Canali kept in movement, eyes on the table. Someone shoved Canali's shoulder, making her stumble slightly but never really breaking stride. All of the chairs had been taken, so upon reaching the table, Canali nodded to the table and pulled a wooden seat from another table close up. Not enough to be in another's business, but back enough to where it was easy to hear, but out of the way of the others.Even speak up if need be. No words explained her actions of why she had suddenly appeared. If asked, she's simply say Cade waved her over.

The smell of mead and smoke met Carina's senses without her even needing to step foot inside the old tavern. But once she did, the atmosphere was completed. Standing just past the entrance off to the side, she stood with watchful eyes, taking in what details she could see threw the smoke and hear over the off tune music. The tables were full of both men and women, a handful of which were very boisterous in their merrymaking. It was painfully obvious in the way they carried themselves, and in the slur in their words, that they had one too many drinks that evening. There was one group in particular, however, that drew her attention.

A group that consisted of both men an women were gathered in the far corner of the tavern. Unlike the majority of the taverns patrons, unbalanced and homely, it seemed to have a reason for being there. She couldn't make much out of the group, more then half its members backs were creating a rather effective barrier against wandering eyes like hers. A better vantage point was required, and she knew just where to sit to get it. Surveying the room once more before she made her move, she ran her hands down a small portion of her skirt, seemingly to flatten any wrinkles. And while it may have seemed innocent enough, it was a habitual motion of making certain her weapons were in place, one that she developed over the years of concealing daggers under her clothes.

Weaving a path threw the crowds of drunkards with careful steps, she made slow progress across the full room, towards the bar. Watching the people she passed, she noticed a man who was excessively drunk hobbling in her direction with a silly grin on his reddened face. Inwardly she scoffed at him, while externally, one corner of her mouth turned upward in a mischievous smirk. On his approach, he lost his balance and stumbled toward her. And in an effort to avoid any contact with the sweaty man, she side stepped from his path and let him fall face first onto the tavern floor. The loud thud the man made upon making contact with the wooden planks of the floor, announced Carina's arrival at the bar and brought the bartenders attention to his next paying customer. Pleased that she was free of the rowdy tavern guests, she pushed a few strands of her honey colored hair back over her shoulder and took the stool nearest to the suspicious group.

Knowing she had the attention of the bartender, she placed her order, ignoring the way he ogled her.
"One cup of tea, please. One fourth of a cup of cream, and two tablespoons of sugar." She figured the man would protest and tell her its a bar, not a tea house, but it was what she wanted, her favorite. Of course there was a chance that they simply wouldn't carry it; it was, after all, a more 'high end' beverage compared to what most of the customers enjoyed. But if it was just a matter of inconvenience, she would simply smile a bit, maybe flutter her eyes. That usually made men more... cooperative. While she waited for the man's response to her order, she dug down into one of her pockets and pulled out a small steel mirror and set it down on the bar. When she needed to appear inconspicuous to look over at somebody, a small mirror was very effective... until the person noticed it. Angling it just so, she began looking over the faces of the group. Little did she know, she would find Cade amongst them.

Postby Bob Barton on July 5th, 2011, 3:08 pm

Bob downed his mug of milk and wiped his lips in satisfaction. He called the bartender back, ordering another helping and started with his usual practices.

"Ahhh, lovely tavern you got here. So exciting and lively it definitely captures the city of Sunberth. And have I heard stories about this place and most of them are not that nice either." Bob chuckled a bit hearing his own words "Well, word is you have your very own living legend here...a Rob "Rot Fingers"? I bet that man has a story to tell, but then again I bet everyone knows about it. But you here, a bartender, I bet you have some stories and I definitely would love to hear about them. Bet your job must be the best, everyone talks more when they are drunk don't they? Why do I like to bet so much? Well..."

Without waiting for the bartender to reply anything, Bob spun on his seat. He now had a view of the whole tavern and started speaking again not knowing if the bartender was still there or not. He started pointing with a bent arm at some of the patrons at the bar.

"Look at that, those guys I had a few games a while back told me a lot of interesting things." Then he continued to another table "And look at those people? Looking at how they are talking and acting, I bet we are going to have an interesting bar brawl which is deeply rooted with its own tale as well." He chuckled again.

Bob watched the scene involving the black haired woman with the drunk now on the floor and chuckled. "Now thats a story I would be taking home tonight. A story about a drunkard getting rejected painfully on the dance floor and still lives with a giggle or two." Seeing how graceful her movements were, not even stumbling after being shoved Bob's gaze lingered unto her until she reached her destination. A table which he had noticed growing bigger and bigger. He slightly extended his arm and continued "And look at that group. So many that the only big table in the bar is getting overflooded! I bet a group that big in a city like this definitely has a good story about the bond they share. Maybe that cloaked man is telling it right now. See how everyone's eyes are on him?"

It was then he noticed the big man at the table looking at him. Bob knew that type of face and everywhere he saw that type of face, it only spelt trouble. He thought to himself, "Damn you dad, damn you for not doing anything right. You can't even make me tall like you? See now how am I being picked on by the bigger guys? Its like being a kid all over again." In a flash of worry he looked around the bar and saw a few other people spying on the group as well. Not wanting to draw anymore unwanted attention to himself, he spun back and finished his milk. Something is going to happen at the Pig Foot tonight and he would want to be as far away as possible.
