Info about the thread :
This is going to be a thread for weapon training, wilderness survival and minor game hunting (unless someone wants to hunt/kill something bigger, in which case I'll ask for permission for that). I expect it to be a 5 day plus thread. I can alter the time stamp if it conflicts. Anyways, feel free to join.

Irriari checked the string on her bow and ran her hands across the bone, skin, teeth and hair that was wrapped around her bow. The jagged teeth had came from various animals in the Sea of Grass and they were bound into the skin and leather of various cats and animals. As a silly decoration, her sister had even included an Akalak fingernail, though it had started to crack with age. Irriari finished checking her bow down and then retrieved her quiver from her back. Irriari ran her hands down the leather, checking it for cracks and dryness. Overall, the leather was dry, but it wasn't at risk of cracking imminently. Irriari grabbed the arrows and checked each bolt over once before strapping the quiver back again. The bolts and arrows had been reused before from previous hunts but few of them showed more than minor wear and tear.

The trip would be long, but she needed the time out in the forests and the wilds. It had been too long since she had hunted with her bow and actually killed. The wilds would provide poison crafting reagents and fresh game to eat. Irriari stretched her arms into the sky and her wings spread out beside her. In a few more minutes, at sunset, she would head out into the forests that lined the edge of the Lake Ravok.

A trip into the wilds (Open!)

The hint of a strange new smell raised Nex's interest, and while he was more than ready to depart from the foul city, the prospect of learning a new scent was far to alluring for now. It was something he hadn't ever come across, and if he discovered its source it would be a nice thing to know in the future. The smell had a sweet adrenaline bathe to it, that often predators radiated often or even prey did when they were under his gaze, and besides the sweet overlay to it, the cause of which he thought was female in origin, it also had a twang of other scents as well, scents of earth, and other things upon it that he didn't recognize. He turned the corner of the merchant's circle, and at last it seemed he had came to the origin, as this was where the smell was strongest.

Taking in a deep breath to be reassured that whatever it was indeed there, he began to scan the crowd, his eyes filtering from face to face till he came across one that looked a bit out of the ordinary to him. Her face looked fine actually, considerably beautiful even, but it was the rest of her body that struck him as not in the norm, though he wasn't sure yet whether that was a good or bad thing. For first off the most obvious thing was the pair of wings she was supporting, and then came the fur, and claws, but he didn't mind those too much since they seemed rather natural, even though he had never heard of such a person bearing those characteristics all at once. Still he sensed that she wasn't an immediate threat to his person despite her appearance, and he wanted to follow through on his curiosity anyways, for good or for ill. With determination, and confidence he walked forward making his way towards the woman, his golden orbs locked on her, and walked until he was only two arm spans from her.

" Planning on going hunting? " he asked, noting her bow with a flick of his eyes before looking back up into hers. " I am referred to as Nex, who might you be? " He paused only for a moment before extending his hand in greeting, his breeding in Lhavit looked like it still had hold, and likely would never fade.

OOCIf you don't want a third person or just don't want Whisper in so soon after their first meeting, Irr, just say so and I'll revoke this post. If not, just read on~ And I’ll reread this post tomorrow because it’s really… early here, but it was on the mind so I had to type it out…

Softened footsteps noted her arrival and passing on each street, but considering the city's sounds during the day, one might not notice the footfalls coming from an unseen source. A falcon glided easily a couple dozen feet up, watching his master's every move while she did this new hobby she had taken up as of late. A couple days in the week, mostly when the sunrise is still very young, his master would call for him and they would be off through the streets in a matter of moments. She wouldn't wear her cloak when they were on these outings which was very strange to him since as far as he had been by her side she had worn her cloak. He didn't possess the thought process to understand why, but it was different and he didn't necessarily like the change.

That wasn't to say the woman went out in "normal" attire. She had saved up to buy a silk bodysuit, a suit that clung to her curves, but offered great mobility and flexibility and on top of the fact it helped her stay a bit more unnoticed in the shadows that she liked to hide in. The shadows brought a security to her normally always alert nerves because she felt closer to her goddess when she was within them.

Whisper couldn't run very fast nor could she climb with consistent strength, but she kept up with her quick pace through her acrobatics which more or less looked like she was dancing with the walls and edges as she glided over them. She stumbled a few times, but almost always corrected herself with a spring or attempted flip. Admittedly, she did hit an unexpected wall now and again and Ryek would come down and perch somewhere near her and tilt his head before watching over her until she felt it was time to move again. But she was starting to learn parts of the city and its twists and turns. The Merchant's Ring came into view all at once and she couldn't slow down quick enough before appearing out in the street.

She cursed under her breath and turned to briskly go back to the less crowded alleys, but the Defiled Blade caught her attention. Not the store, she had no need for that store, but the zith out in front of it. It was her new acquaintance that she met only two day ago. She went back into the alley, but only to reappear a few moments later in the alley next to the shop. A smirk tugged at her lips when she saw a man extend a hand to Irriari and definitely was curious on how she was going to react to the less-than-common greeting here in Ravok, at least in the streets she grew up in. Ryek placed himself on top of the Defiled Blade and cawed down at Irriari, letting his new friend know he was there.

Postby Irriari on July 12th, 2011, 1:35 am

Irriari had just finished checking her poison crafting kit and readjusting the vials and beakers that had gotten tousled somehow. It was annoying, and one day she would buy a bigger pack to house all of her lab, and the glassware she planned to buy to supplement the meager pack that she had bought from the merchant years ago. Yes, she would have to do that soon, she decided. A few pieces had broken in travel, and a few had gotten trampled or misplaced in the colony. It was irksome, and sometimes detrimental to her work, but nothing promoted ingenuity like hardship.

As she was strapping the leather across her chest to her back, a man began approaching her, unafraid of her wings or stance. How odd for a human. He came close to her, only a few feet away, and his golden eyes met hers as he spoke. She thought for a second and then answered his questions with a hint of a bite in her voice.

“Yes. I am. Would you like to be among the prey?”

She paused, waiting to gauge his reaction, but continued shortly after.

“My name is Irriari, Nex, and I'm curious as to why you would approach a zith about hunting. Do you not fear me? Do you know that I could kill you in the woods?”

It was true, and she didn't mind telling him so. Her feral side had hardly seen the light of day in a month. It was time to kill, time to fly and time to rip the life out of the forest, and rend it with her claws. In the forest, she wouldn't be so correct, so proper. An annoyed look crossed her face for a moment, but quickly vanished. Hadn't some humans shown themselves to be trust worthy? It was a mixed bag. After the rape, and the two kidnappings, it was simple to dismiss every human she saw. But some had their purposes. Maybe this one was like Alenias, or Whisper and her bird.

At the thought of Whisper, her falcon, Ryek called to her from the roof, and Irriari offered her arm out to him. His talons would hurt, but if the bird desired to perch on her arm, it was his.

“And where's Whisper? You haven't abandoned her, have you?”

Irriari joked gently at the bird as her eyes swept over the streets, looking for the tell tale streak of red hair that announced the presence of the the falconer. For now, she didn't see her amid the crowd, but Irriari was sure that the girl was close. She wouldn't leave Ryek for long.

The tone that came to him as none to welcoming hardly phased him, he was used to the gruffness of people in Ravok, and he found it hardly worth his time to challenge them on ever intolerant remark they made. Something seemed to move behind his eyes as she described him as prey, and his brow furrowed in the slightest but still he managed to keep his gaze fixated on her, no emotion immediately leaping to view as he calmly observed her. " Hello Irriari " he responded in a strained cordial tone that all went downhill from there as his voice took on a sharper edge to it. " I have no idea what a zith might be, isn't anything I ever heard of, but in any case I fear no man or woman. Just as well anyone could kill anyone in the woods, but between us both, I think I am the one more suitably adapt for the woods lady " the cool tone thickening the air around him with a slight palpable tension, but he didn't mind it, instead concentrating on his limbs and body, using a slight breathing trick his old teacher had taught him long ago.

A deep breath inwards expanded his chest, and slowly he let it out, the exercise doing wonders for maintaining his calmness at the whole situation. He didn't need help reigning in his emotions this time too much though; the breathing exercises more focused on keeping his muscles prepped and ready in case this one decided it was a wise idea to challenge him to a fight. He blinked slowly, his eyes flickering up to look at the bird that had made the noise. It wasn't a kelvic for sure, he could tell by its smell, faint at this distance, but he also wondered if Irriari was a falconer, and side thought branching off of that wondering if she had a fascination with creatures that possessed wings. He simply shrugged even though, and his eyes gazed down to look and the woman once more, his face showing no expression on it what so ever, appearing to be a blank slate until more words could yet be uttered. There was still yet time for impressions after all.

Ryek quickly took to her arm, but he hovered for a few moments to consider the arm stretched to him. Whisper always had him land on leather but his new friend would have him land on her arm. He did so anyway and perched on Irriari's outstretched arm and spouted a few sounds as if he possessed the thought to greet her. The falcon's gaze went to Nex after a few moments and any hardness given to him would've been almost useless to the proud bird, not that he would've understood a look of that sort anyway.

"Leave it to ignorance to get people killed." came a soft voice from the alley beside them and where, if they looked, the red headed woman in her silk bodysuit leaned against the corner. "And you'd be right to fear zith in any condition that includes a sky."

That soft smirk of hers tugged at her lips satisfied at her wit and teasing, but shook her swelling head because she knew being quickly put in check after her own comments. Her mother had a tongue like a dagger. "And Ryek is just fussy about not being able to land on me right now." At the mention of his name, Ryek spun his head and called in protest at his master. "Shush you." she said playfully.

Irriari smiled as Ryek landed on her armor, and tried to keep it steady in the air while he adjusted. The bird was heavier than she thought, and she had a new found respect for Whispers strength. Was her arm thick enough to support the falcon? He was used to being supported by leather, but he would fly away if he was uncofortable, she was sure. For now, she had a new guest to deal with.
His original tone had changed drastically from the pleasant demeanor he had presented only moments ago. Get under their skin, she thought, and they tend to show you their true faces. It was a highly cynical view of humans, and nearly every other race she had met, but few groups of people ever laid out their desires from the very first meeting.

"Adaption matters little if you can't live long enough to sustain it. But I do understand your point. Are you prepared to go into the woods now?"

A voice came from the alley way, and instinctively, Irriari pivoted on her heel and faced towards the noise, her eyes searching in the near dark for Whisper. The red headed girl was covered in a skin tight black body suit that cloaked her slender form in the shadows. She smiled at the girls comment.

"Do you want to come too, Whisper?"

She hoped the girl would. She would have to someone to watch her back around this new man. The woods called to her as she looked out to the setting sun that was sinking underneath the tall green canopy of trees.

His golden eyes flickered to the alley, and they widened as he saw a red headed woman now standing there. Perhaps this 'zith' had darker intentions, and hoped to trap him. If that was the case she would be sorely disappointed, and determinedly he took a step back, his muscles tense and ready. He made no effort to leave however, and his feet stayed rooted in place, but his eyes roamed between both of the women, ever wary for any trickery. " It be kind of hard to follow me in the air, with so many trees to worry about, especially since I know the paths where they are so thick that they are almost like a wall at some points " he replied to the woman's teasing. He didn't quite understand the innuendos of the human language just yet, and just took teasing as direct criticism on his person.

Another flash of his eyes brought the zith woman in his sight, and his mind mulled over her request. He really didn't like the idea of going into the woods with two strange women he had never met, but on the other hand, if they weren’t too bad then he might learn a thing or two. A sigh escaped him, and he took in a deep breath before speaking. " Ok, I will join you in the woods on your word that you will not try to rob, or otherwise harm me when we are out there " he paused, and looked at the other woman warily. " Also, I need a moment to send a letter to a friend, just in case something does happen to me, she is within the city, but it seems I'll have no time to find her before we leave "

OOCSorreh, it's a little eh.

"Pipe down, we aren't that bad."

Whisper said playfully and gracefully picked her steps in a slow walk to stand next to Irriari. He would definitely be fun to tease on this trip, so she hoped he came along and they didn't put him on the defensive too much. There was something about him though, she couldn't quite place it, but those eyes were repeatedly catching her attention. Those golden eyes seemed different somehow. Of course they are different, she half scolded herself in her mind for being distracted a little. but Ravok has a lot of things that are different... It wasn't the golden color she truly felt was different, but it was them entirely.

"To gather? Yes, I would gladly join." she said when she realized she almost ignored Irriari's question. She knew that Irriari knew exactly what she wanted to accomplish out there and that was all, so she didn't feel the need to scare the man until they were well outside the city.

She looked back to Nex as he spoke about a precaution and fought back a smile. It was a good precaution, she never did it, but that's only saying she didn't have anyone that she would tell of her leaving the city. As he spoke though, something just seemed different. Maybe it was the years of trying to see what the observing falcon saw rubbing off on her or she was just seeing something where there was none. Once he was done though, it was gone and his eyes drew her attention once more. She would play it off as playful observing if questioned, but really she was a bit curious about him.

A trip into the wilds (Open!)

Postby Irriari on July 19th, 2011, 6:57 am

OOCSay hi to Jackie's 2 am writing of not so awesomeness. Sorry guys. I hope this suffices. *hugs*

Irriari appraised both of the humans standing in front of her, and the falcon that rested on her shoulder. They seemed ready, though she couldn't accurately judge the condition any of the bunch would be in after a week in the wilds. Forest terrain was different from the grasses. Flying straight up was nearly impossible, and the flora and fauna obscured nearly all peripheral vision, no matter whether one was in the sky or on the ground. Night vision in the forest was more of a detriment, though others of the colony had sworn that they could see past the thick canopy and ferns that blanketed every area. Irriari addressed Nex first.

“I won't harm you. Unless you piss me off. Other than that, we should get along like two pieces of glassbeak dung on a leaf.”

The last bit was meant as a joke, but she realized that the human male might not understand it and instead focus on the words themselves. It didn't matter, really, as long as he got the first part of the statement. Irriari knew that properly placed poison in the food supply could kill Nex, but she doubted the human would annoy her enough to warrant murder. Maybe Ravok had softened her somehow. Before, a trader would die for simply speaking arrogantly to her, but now, her outlook on her life and the people in it was tempered by the constraints and laws of society.

Now she was venturing into the woods of a violent city with a strangely nice man, who seemed to not have seen her wings during his introduction, and also another girl who was interested in poison. Irriari walked towards the direction of the forest while speaking to Nex.

“You can either find your woman in the next 20 minutes and give her the letter, or we can leave now. Are you both ready?”

It was a bit harsh, but night had already fallen, and an executive decision had to be made at some point. She awaited their replies, because as soon as the mundane business in the city was settled, they would be off into the deepest patches of the woods that Irriari could strand herself in.
