Question: Is there an extant order of monks dedicated to Dira? If not, I have this concept...

Well, Mizahar is a shattered world- few people know of the gods and while their may be splintered cells here and there, there is no 'order' of monks. Of course, Dira, like most other goddesses, has followers. She has a priestess on Black Rock (who possesses three of her gnosis marks.)

Dira, is a huge part of peoples lives in Black Rock, like Rhysol is in the lives of the citizens of Ravok. However, she does not expect any sort of following.

I hope this helps. If you had a specific idea in mind related to this that you think can work, either pm me or post here.

I was thinking that if there were monks who follow Dira that they would be based in Black Rock.

Following are some of my thoughts:

I don't see an order of monks following Dira to be dour or grim. They'd probably be quite balanced individuals who have a great love for life. They would be trained as counselors and counsel ghosts and those that have been left behind.

They'd also be trained in medicine to help those whose times have not yet come or to ease the passing of those whose times have.

They won't be afraid of death, knowing that it is inevitable, but instead greet it as an old friend. This is not to say that they will do things that are suicidal because that would be presumptuous, against both Dira and Kihala's wishes.

Well, I've been thinking of that concept since I read up on Black Rock. I only post it now because there hasn't seemed to been any activity here in a while.

@Sheika: I can't wait to have you here.

@Marlow: I really like the idea, but I talked to Cayenne about this and we've decided not to approve it at this time for a few reasons.

There might be an odd monk or two that travel around with multiple skills (say, in this case, medicine and rhetoric or counseling)... but generally Black Rock has a lot of counselors and healers that are just one of those two things.

Dira is huge on balance, and I'm really glad you got that, because it's a huge point of the city...

There are numerous support sources in place for them (being ghosts), including ones who enable them to pass to Lhex, unfinished business and all. The world of Mizahar does not allow for smooth travel, or even much communication or connection between places. If there were little groups, then they would all be individual.

I hope this helps. If it's not clear, I'd be happy to clarify more.

Also, I'm sorry if I'm taking time to reply but I want to make sure I consult with Cay (who is MEGA busy). I also wanted to make sure I had all MY ducks in a row to give you a good answer.

Not a problem. I'll just hold on to the concept for a bit longer then. :) Thank you Cayenne and Finality.

Thanks for understanding - please know that we appreciate and love inquiries. :)

If you wanted to make a character to take such a role in Black Rock, you'd certainly be welcome to give it a shot and play it out. :)
