10 Day of Summer 2011

The day had been long. Taithrosa had started the day with walking to a medical call. The temple had needed him to help a girl who had attempted to sneak out of the house early. It had been a simple case. He had taken her foot and ankle in his large hands and had tested it to see if anything was broken. His silver eyes had looked at the girl and her mother and he had smiled. "Just a a sprain nothing broken." He had promised that it would hurt like the dickens for a while, and told her to put it up and keep a cool cloth on it. Then he gave her a pack of herbs for a tea to help with the pain.

That had been followed with some time in the library were he had done some studing. Taithrosa was still determined to try and find a way to help the Akalak fertility problem. He had picked up a book on pregnancy and began to read through the day. There were many different things to ready about the natural process.

It was late in the day though and the library had begun to feel cramped so he had stood up and putting his book away had walked out of the opal temple. He spent a fair amount of time here at the temple since he had first arrive a year ago.

His large blue skinned body moved quickly across the green lawn. His step were long as he moved. Soon he found a spot were he could sit down and watch people coming and going from the temple. His silver eyes watched cuirous at the different people who came to the temple.

Do you think that you could ever, Through all eternity,
Find out the generation Where Gods began to be?
Or see the grand beginning, Where space did not extend?
Or view the last creation, Where Gods and matter end?

Nor seen the outside curtains, Where nothing has a place.”

The Sea Breeze (Open)

Postby Jaiyahe on July 17th, 2011, 11:07 am

Jaiyahe finally reached the temple just on the outskirts of Mura, his feet heavy with exhaustion from the long trek, his black fur coarse with the sleepless nights and the roughness of the journey. As soon as he came into view everyone stopped there daily business and stared at the 8 feet behemoth, this didn't bother Jaiyahe much as he had encountered the same reaction pretty much everywhere he went due to his gigantic size and massive, muscly frame, he noticed the dry, dusty road he was on and that it linked to the tall, white and bland stone building that was the temple just outside Mura, he had heard stories about its grace and elegance but from this distance Jaiyahe wasn't impressed.

Jaiyahe continued to walk to the temple with heavy tremors as each step forcefully compacted the earth, as he closed in on the doors of the white stoned building however, he noticed that it wasn't bare at all, that is actually had intricately designed pictures on the walls. Large pearls, multicolored shells, even the plants that climbed up the wall and made it home contributed to the amazing pictures and patterns that was, from close up so clearly evident. Jaiyahe thought to him self "Such creativity, if only my home had such beauty".

Managing to squeeze through the tight fit doors, he carefully made his way to the medical library trying not to clumsily tread up what looked like old pieces of herbalist parchment that was stupidly scattered across the shining white floors, Upon reaching the vast room he saw several shelves of old, crumbling tomes, timeworn books and unusual research notes that were written in several different languages that he could barely recognize.

At the far end of the room Jaiyahe saw vast accounts of diseases, cures and plant properties in the form of ancient stone tablets from the many a generation ago. he then saw several stacks of oddly wolf hide covered books, covered in a light dust of disuse in the corner, he asked one of keepers of the library in the common tongue which he was not accustomed to as he pointed to the books "I read books out in open air under late days sun?", The librarian said back with a hint of disdain, and arrogance "Do you Know how old these books are? You may read them outside the temple but do well to return them before the day has ended!". Jaiyahe gave the little librarian an aggressive look, which unnerved the rude man as he scurried off to deal with other, less threatening matters.

Jaiyahe made his way outside and thumped down for a seat next to the temple wall, with a shock to the ground as he sat, he started to loosen his worn leather body harness for comfort. With the setting sun warming him as he opened the unusual tomes with his cracked hands that missed a few fingers, he began reading the books for any precious information, being avoided and nervously watched by the populous as they went on with their chores.

The large man sat enjoy the glory of Syna and the cool breeze coming off of the sea. His handsome face with its round checks and thick eyebrows titled in surprise as a large mammal came out of the Opal Temple. Despite its diverse nature the Opal Order was mostly konti woman, and then humans. Taithrosa was an Akalak during the day and an Ethaefel during the night was unique, this creature was different. The son of Leth was learning that many new species had risen since his own death and settling into Leth’s realm.

The silver eyes watched the creature curious and wondered if they had a wild animal lose, but the large hairy mammal settled down and began to read some materials that he had apparently collected from the library. He watched for a while longer wondering as curiosity gnawed at him.

The young man stood up, stretched so that his powerful muscles felt better before walking over towards the large mammal. He paused a respectful distant away, and bowed his head towards the person in greeting. “Greetings.” He said in his deep voice. “I apologies for interrupting but curiosity compelled me. I haven’t ever meet someone like you, and wished to do so.” His accent was archaic understandable but the way he shaped his words and vowels was just different. It gave him a musical lilt to his accent.

Jaiyahe continued to read over the books with enriched enthusiasm, however he quickly noticed out of the corner of his eye, a muscular being curiously walking towards him. Rubbing his rough Jamourian hands, he continued to read the books that held the interesting information about the plant species of the land, while keeping a wary, watchful look on the slowly approaching man.

By then, the golden yellow sun was slowly setting causing the surrounding air to grow colder. A breeze picked up, making the trees and the crystal clear pools of azure water around the Opal Temple sway and brush with the movement of the calm, cool wind. This made Jaiyahe's obsidian colored fur stand up on end making him appear larger than previously thought.

A minute later, Jaiyahe turned his large, profound head to the direction of the incoming man, only seeing that he had stopped a few meters away, the man then gave him a distinguished nod of respect, Jaiyahe, acknowledged this sign and nodded back with a similar profound respect.

The strange man then began to speak, although it was in the common tongue, the mans unusual, uncommon and peculiar accent provided a difficult challenge of understanding for Jaiyahe. As the man continued to speak his reasons of approaching the large, hairy behemoth. Jaiyahe just only managed to gain the meaning of the sentence as the last words rolled of the end of the strangers tongue.

Putting the tattered book down to the parched ground among the rest of them, the Jamoura gradually rose up to his feet and gave a massive, fatigued yawn showing his impressive, sharp, white fangs, He then began to stretch his enormous arms that were bursting with his dominantly imposing muscles. With a final crack of his knuckles, he replied with an uncertainty of the speech and a large thump to his muscle-bound chest "Big Day, Jaiyahe is name of me, he then began to use his bulky finger to draw his name in the Jamourian language to try and show of his linguistic prowess. "Named after white stripes", he pointed to his white striped back and with another thump to his chest, he continued "I of proud Jamoura, I read books for many knowledge, What you here do?" he finished with a deep, resounding voice, while staring into the man's powerful silvery eyes with his own equally powerful eyes.

These two presences where surely the center of attention at the temple as the people around gasped in awe of there unique, individual magnificence.

The son of Leth was aware of the sinking of Syna, he wasn't particuarlly worried as the various members of the Order had seen his change before. Not all of them, but he wasn't ashamed of his true form, for it was glorious and beautiful. His current form was that of a handsome young akalak, but his other form was that of a fallen child of Leth. The grace that came with it made him feel less clumsy. It was in general just better.

Taithrosa titled his head, his silver eyes with a depth to them that was almost eternal, for he had looked upon the heavens, and while didn't remember all from that realm remembered more then enough to have a unique view of this world and life. He listened and nodded his head towards the creature. "The Library at the temple is an excellent place to gain knowledge of many subjects, but most specially of healing." He touched his chest to indicated himself "I am Taithrosa Eldytia one of the healers in training here at the temple." He didn't bother to mention also in pasted lives. That was something he was sure about, he had always had a passion for helping people. "So what is it that you are reading." He indicated that they could sit and talk instead of just standing around uncomfortable."

After now knowing to the strange mans name, he contently listened for more information although Taithrosa's accent was still hard to understand, Jaiyahe could read his facial expressions more clearly now, allowing him to make sense of some of the words he couldn't quite understand, however when the peculiar man asked what Jaiyahe was reading, he instantly recognized what he asked and a bright smile arose from his mouth, once again showing off his fabulous, white, unspoiled fangs, delighted that someone was actually interested in what Jaiyahe was doing he said in a deep voice "Come".

Jaiyahe realizing that they should sit down, he swiftly gathered up the small pile of wolf hide, timeworn books, he then picked a comfy, grassed spot right under the setting sun and orange colored open sky, he then sat down with a bump to the ground obviously stating that he weighed alot more than the people around him. Jaiyahe then unveiled the books from his arms and dropped them to the ground before him.

"One book here, I like, it shows of me want to be" Jaiyahe said with slow words, his voice had grown deeper with a hint of anger and disdain "Me not want to be scholar or teacher like other Jamoura" he lifted up the oddest book out of an odd bunch. On the front was a large hand, similar in shape and contour of his own that was made out of a hard, grey crystalline substance that shimmered in the setting sun, it was surrounded in wolf hide like the rest of them but unlike the rest of them, it didn't depict herbs, plants, illnesses or cures.

Jaiyahe carefully opened the strange book, on the front page it showed a picture of a Jamoura with a type of make-shift armor made of wood and some bits of metal, the writing at the top was of a different language that Jaiyahe hadn't seen before, he continued to flick through the pages, showing different techniques of fights that were utilizing a Jamoura's advantages such as weight, height and strength, "I want to be warrior!" he finished with a deep growl, while lifting up the book for Taithrosa to take.

Having the formalities of introduction taken care of Taithrosa followed the large Jamoura towards a spot of the lawn were they could both stretch out and talk. Taithrosa sat down so that he would be facing his new acquaintances. He was a little surprised at the slight impact on the ground as the larger individual next to him took a seat. The Akalak looking young man was large and tended to need bigger chairs the others but he didn’t cause a vibration when he sat. Then again the fact he didn’t flop to the ground might have helped as well.

He looked at the books that were center to their conversation. It appeared that most of them were the regular books to be found in the library. Books on herbs and medicine, the stuff that Taithrosa tended to devour as he spent time in the library. He looked though at the book that seemed to have gotten the attention of the gorilla like creature.

It appeared to be a book on combat moves, unarmed and specifically designed for hs race. Traithrosa flipped through the book looking at the various forms. While specifically designed for his race, it appeared to have some specifics that he used in his own unarmed combat. Being large did give one certian benefits.

The silver eyed man looked up from the book. "So you want to be a warrior? You have choosne and intereting place to visit then. What has brought you to Mura?"

Jaiyahe contently watched Taithrosa as he flipped through the unusual book, while thinking of himself being a resilient, battle-hardened warrior that so many other races had accustomed to be, unlike his species that remained on a path of knowledge, scholarship and planned out idleness. Waiting for Taithrosa to finish inspecting the book, Jaiyahe loosened his leather body harness that was grasping uncomfortably to his glossy black fur that covered his body and his muscles that were burdened by fatigue, he then started to uncap the leather bracers that evidently squeezed his skin leaving behind matted hair, were the sweat and dirt
had accumulated from days past.

When Jaiyahe heard the question of wanting to be a warrior, his face brightened up giving off genuine expressions of happiness and joy, his white set of fangs bare with glee. "Yes, me want to be great warrior!" he replied enthusiastically in his deep voice. "I no meant for scrolls and teaching, Other Jamoura not use gifts that were given, Strength! Might! Power!", Jaiyahe's voice grew louder with anger "What do Jamoura do if no can fight and people come and try to kill?" his voice returned to its normal tone "Me want see Jamoura live!, "Me want Jamoura protected and safe" he shouted with a quick bash to his chest, "Jamoura not many now, Only few remain" he said with a large, drained sigh.

Feeling embarrassed about the shameful burst of anger, he lowered his head to become less obvious, feeling obligated to answer the silver eyed mans second question, he replied in a less threatening and light tone of voice "Father tells me, go to Mura, learn from library, learn from Konti" knowing that he shouldn't speak ill of his father, he lowered his voice even more to almost a whisper "Me want to do as me wish". Jaiyahe held up his cracked hands showing the two missing fingers from the one hand and the one missing finger from the other, "This happen if Jamoura has not guardians" Jaiyahe continued to speak "Outside Spires is dangerous, Big beasties are hunting always" lifting up his hands once more "Me kill pack of dire wolves to help Jamoura being attacked but they get me good" he lifted his right arm unveiling the large amounts of scars that were across scattered his body "Me want Jamoura warriors to help Jamoura people" he stated sternly, while plucking pale blades of green grass beneath his thick skinned feet.

The youthful member of the Opal Order noticed the condition of the Jamoura. He had clearly traveled resently and it appeared that it had been a hard time for him. The dirt cacked on him indicated that he hadn't had the chance to bath recently. The silver eyes looked at the creature as the sun began to touch the horizon.

He listened as the ranting began. He leaned back on his hands and titled his head as he explained that his people enjoyed learning, and that he didn't feel that they should, that they should be warriors.

Taithrosa leaned back and thought. "I haven't ever encoutered your race before, so I don't know much about the Jamoura race." He said his eyes narrowed. "I think thought that all things must be balanced. I come from a back ground were people they must learn control. The Akalak's have a split personality, and if they allow the dark side to take control they become unbalance and dangerously violent." He sat back up straight. "I think you can learn a balance. You want to be a warrior and your father wants you to be a scholar. Here on Mura the konti teach both. You can learn both." He looked at the book. "Have you had a chance to learn any of these moves?" He said indicating to some of the pictures. "If you like we can practice a bit, and then I can show you some a place were you can enjoy some clean water."

Almost roaring in excitement, Jaiyahe keenly jumped up to his feet and quickly snatched the book from Taithrosa. Feeling bad for rudely taking the book, he glanced at Taithrosa and gave him a small, warm smile of appreciation and gratitude. Jaiyahe then uncontrollably began to scan through the first few pages of the book, inspecting the stance that was perceived in the yellow paper. The first position had the posture of two of the most important and most obvious aspects of combat, defense and attack. It depicted a Jamoura, still clad in the make-shift armor, stepping back slightly so that his large feet were just as wide part as his shoulders width, both heels were firmly on the ground. It then showed the Jamoura's lead hand clenched in a fist in front of him, prepared to block, grab or strike. The rear hand was open and near its muscular chest prepared to help manipulate the opponents attack or support a defensive block.

The book then showed various of ways of blocking a punch, defending from a grab and striking an opponent, all from this one stance. Jaiyahe though to himself "This must be the very first stance, the stance that makes all others bend into place". He continued to scan over the pictures and diagrams of the technique that could well be, his introduction and his path to mastering, what he dreamed of, a Jamourian combat art, that could make him into a great warrior.

The sun continued to lower below the horizon allowing the people of Mura to disappear and rest to there homes to spend time with there families after a hard days work. This was the perfect time to practice, not much heat from the setting sun and there was a nice cool breeze in the air which gave relief to soon to be aching bones and muscles, also the thought of a clean water after exhausting exercise encouraged Jaiyahe's eagerness to participate with all his ability and strength.

"Come Friend!" he shouted to Taithrosa as he stretched his massive, hairy arms. Cracking his knuckles, Jaiyahe mimicked the stance, ready to finally engage in his first disciplined art of Jamourian fighting.
