Location: Denusk Pavilion
Purpose: Reunion & Tying Tasi to the Web
Status: Open to the Denusk Family
Having multiple Striders at your disposal made traversing the vastness of Cyphrus far easier than it would have been normally. Endrykas might not have been anywhere near Riverfall, but from the back of a Strider it was far closer than one would have expected. Kavala was truthfully shocked she'd been allowed to ride out of Riverfall with her newborn tucked in a baby pack nestled up against her breast. She had two remounts with her, one loaded with her own pavilion that she'd set up beside her family's huge one giving her privacy and time alone if she needed it. All three horses were striding at roughly seventy miles an hour, carrying her smoothly across the expanse of the grasslands.
Kavala knew it wouldn't be hard to find Endrykas. She went to its last known location and found the marker cairns that pointed the way. Following them would lead her to the city, though the closer she got the more the grass around the cities movements would be battered down or gone where the herds grazed. To someone trained on the Sea of Grass, finding Endrykas from Riverfall was as easy as following the stars in the sky in any of the cardinal directions.
Traveling with an infant wasn't easy though. Tasi was fussy at first, bouncing along until the striders started actually striding. Kavala had to shift her weight in the saddle, sit further back, ride taller, to carry him comfortably. She often looked over her shoulder too in order to make sure she wasn't followed. Kavala worried that she would be until the horses actually started into their special mileage eating gait. Then, of course, nothing but another strider could follow them.
Still, no Akalak came. No one seemed concerned she left Riverfall in the dead of night. No warrior's peeled off their watch and began to track her. Did they instinctively know she was just visiting family, or was there some timeline that she could be gone for before they brought her back? Sanctuary was in good hands while she was gone, that much was for sure, and so with foaling done and breeding done, the summer was just left to enjoy and decide how much how little needed to be done before winter set in. She had time for a visit, and time to relax at her Father's pavilion for a bit.
It took her four days to find the city. Four days in which she had a lot of time to think about what she was going to say to her parents and brothers, especially Vanator. There was four days riding, in which she hunted along the way, using her bolas to bring down a rabbit here and there in order to have meat to cook over the campfire at night. Bola training from horseback had been mandatory for her, as she was just as often mounted as she was walking. The same held true for her blowgun that took down a small turkey that she was able to dry strips of meat from to eat while they moved.
So when she rode into the city finally, Kavala was exhausted. The three striders in her presence seemed relieved as well. She threaded her way through the encampment to the Sapphire Clan's section and once there looked for the flags and markings of her father's pavilion. She halted her small herd at the pavilion, slipped from Kamsin's back, and started unloading Windstone without a word. Tasi was set up on his boucing frame in the shade while she, without a word to anyone, began unrolling her own pavilion and setting it up. It would take her a couple of hours to do, and once she was done, she planned to sleep a great while.
She needed rest and a chance to recharge. But first came the pavilion. Anyone in the Denusk encampment would clearly see her setting it up. Whether anyone would offer to help, Kavala didn't know or care. Privacy to her was first and foremost. Then, later, she could deal with her father and brothers.
