Tessa Poe Basic Information Race: Human Birthday & Age: Winter 492AV - 20 Gender: Female Height: 5’9 Weight: 139lbs Hair Colour: Black Eye Colour: Blue Physical Description Tessa’s bright blue eyes tend to stand out in her tanned face, a testament to just how much time she spends outdoors. Her shoulder length black hair falls in a bit of mess most of the time unless she's remembered to pull it back into a rough pony tail. She doesn't tend to take much care of her appearance, though she's been told in the past she cleans up well it's never been something she's really cared about, well unless there's a particularly good reason for it. Her tall, well toned frame is a result of the all the walking she does and she's most often dressed in sensible travelling clothes, brown trousers and boots that show all the signs of being well worn with a simple green tunic under a long brown woolen coat, the inside of which is lined with pockets for storing bits and pieces in. Hanging from her hip on her belt is a scabbarded short blade with a buckler shield overlaying the top of it. It tends to clatter if she moves quickly. She tends to wear long sleeved clothes no matter the weather to hide the long scars down her left side that cross over her stomach, and bite marks around her left thigh and right forearm. She really dislikes it when people see them. Character Concept For as long as she can remember Tessa’s been on the move and it’s the drive to see new places and sights that drives her, to the point where she has trouble ever sitting still. She’ll often pace around a room rather than sit, and when she has to sit tends to fiddle and fidget with things until she can back up again. The one exception to this is if there’s a chance at a game of Dice. A habit born from her years growing up on a caravan she’s never yet said no to a game. She also writes down just about everything that she thinks might be important, whether that's a recipe or something she's seen. Every night she sits down to make notes on whatever was interesting during the day. Strangely enough for someone who likes to travel so much Tessa has a terrible sense of direction and tends to get lost easily. She doesn’t exactly mind this though since the journey’s the thing more than anything else for her. She isn’t stupid though, and she knows better than to try and head out on her own for long trips so she sticks to caravans instead. She likes being self-sufficient as far as she can and is always willing to do more than her fair share of the work when she can’t be. She takes pride in her work, whatever it might be, and always does her best to make a good job of it. Though most people don't realise it Tessa actually gets quite nervous around new people. To get past this she usually goes out of her way to be friendly, doing all she can to hide those nerves. On first meeting her people often notice that she seems to be quite cheerful not matter what the circumstances are, it takes quite a lot to bring Tessa down. In fact one of the few things that can do that are dogs. Ever since an attack when she was a child she’s hated them and is pretty much terrified of them. She tends to freeze up in their presence somewhat, almost as if she hopes they won’t notice her. The other thing is if people see the scars that she does her best to hide, she tends to get very flustered if that ever happens. Character History "About me? Well… let’s see, I don’t know exactly where I was born since we were on the move, least that’s what Da says, so I guess one of the caravan routes. I know the first thing I remember is lying there watching the sky and the clouds as they moved slowly along, the wagon rocking and swaying as the oxen pulled it along the road. Da and Ma were there, they looked so happy. It’s been a long time since I thought about that, so hey thanks for asking! Anyway Da was a sort of guard for the caravan and Ma drove one of wagons and me? Well I sort of grew up working with them, just little odd jobs you know? Taking messages back and forth, helping to count the stock, that sort of thing. It was fun really, and everyone was really nice. We were like a big family and I still run into them from time to time too, catching up on all the gossip’s exhausting though. Somehow though… it’s just not the same there without Ma, but I’m getting ahead of myself aren’t I? Hmmm? The scars? I don’t really like to talk about that, I sort of wandered away from the caravan when I was little, got a little lost and then there were these dogs, or wolves, I don’t know they were big at least, and apparently hungry. Only reason everyone found me I think was how loud I was screaming. Can we talk about something else maybe? So yes… I remember I spent a while in the back of the wagon, Ma would sit over me and play this lovely little tune for me because she knew I liked it. When I was strong enough she started to teach me how to play, oh didn’t I mention? She played the flute, this flute right here in fact. Ma said she wanted me to have it after… still getting ahead of myself aren’t I? Where was I again? Oh yes, after what had happened I think she wanted to take my mind off of it all, so giving me something to do while was still stuck in the back of the wagon was probably a good idea. And then, after I could walk again, Da figured he’d teach me to look after myself, some of the others helped out too. Taught me how to use a sword, how to start a fire, how to patch myself up, some of things you could eat if you were lost, you know, useful things. And that was my life really, following the caravan routes, learning what people had to teach me, we were like a big family. There was Mother Treville, she looked after people when they got hurt or sick, Gregir was one of the guards and he was always really nice and all... and then… Ma got sick, I mean really sick. There wasn’t anything we could do, even Mother Treville couldn’t do anything for Ma. It was some kind of a wasting sickness, took her a few months to die. She wanted me to have her flute, wanted me to practice and I do, maybe not as much as I should but there’s always so much to do and all. After that… I didn’t really want to hang around the caravan much longer. Told Da I wanted to see some more of the world for myself and he understood, I think. I don’t know. He’s always happy to see me when we run into each other again and all but it’s like there’s this distance between us now. Maybe he thinks I ran off and abandoned him so soon after what happened to Ma? Never mind that, so… there’s not much more to say really. I mean I travel around seeing what there is to see, mostly I hire on with caravans, don’t want to get lost or anything, though if money’s really short I take on odd jobs, barmaid, waitress, harvester, merchant’s guard, pretty much anything so long as it pays. And that’s about it so far, but you never know what tomorrow’s going to bring do you?" Languages Common: Fluent Pavi: Basic |
