While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

The cold, white coat of snow lingering and covering the grassy hills completely were quite a sight to behold, reflecting the sunlight and looking quite serene and peaceful. Gloria hated it, to her it was nothing more than a slap in the face, telling her it was a stupid idea to come here to wait for a lone and weary adventurer.
The reason why it was a slap in the face was that eventhough snow had no hidden agenda when it falls down, the footprintless snowcarpet was annoying to notice. She had stood there, every day, every night, for the better part of this week, in search of a tired and restless adventurer.
In her 'line of work', adventurers were easily easy pickings, they all had their reasons to go out and roam the world. Usually the reasons weren't easily coped with and made them vulnerable to her soothing words.
She was about to glide off the Caern and onto the snow to make her way back to Syliras when she heard crunching noises. Either an animal or a human was nearby. She quickly put on her saddened, griefstruck face and sat on her knees beneath the Caern, her white dress shimmered as a foggy graylike smoke compared to the beautiful godsent white snow.
She held back a sneer at that thought and started weeping softly and gently with her face covered by her hand as she started to wheep more and more, tears flowing over her semi-transparent face. Awaiting whatever/whoever it was that was nearby. |

It had been an unseasonably cold winter in Sylira. The ground was thick with a hard layer of snow. Making every step loud and noisy. Good for finding people. Not for going unnoticed, and being this close to the Main Road gave Luke an uneasy feeling. The Syliran Knights were everywhere this close to the strong hold.
He had been keeping well away from the Karbin road and was lucky enough to find a clearing. Even if it was mostly hills. He zigzagged between the steep hills and stuck to the natural path they created. Zephyr, His horse at the time wasn't the most controlled beast and he didn't trust it enough to trail up and down icy hills.
The sun was shining bright with little clouds. Causing the ground to shimmer and sparkle softly. It would be some sight if Luke wasn't freezing and worried. Kain must not of been thinking straight. Something must be wrong with him for thinking of being this close to Syliras. Who did he think he was!Well it wasn't really Luke's place to judge Kain. He always moved for the best and Luke would just have to trust that.
The hills created a natural bend in the path. As he slowly went around the hill, strange sounds came to his ear. He took off the dark hood of his cloak to get a better listen. Easing Zephyr to a stop he stopped and kept silent... Whimpers? The more he listened the more it sounded like wails and cries of some kind. It didn't sound like the person was dying or injured.. just crying. It was an almost eerie sound as if not fully there. It was definitely making the horse awkward.
It also sounded like a woman. Which was good enough reasons to check. Women meant easy pickings for him or worse yet for the other men. He hated having to cover other peoples asses but if this woman was caught by the others he wouldn't forgive himself.
Lightly kicking Zephyr into a quick trot he came around the bend of the hills. When Luke came upon the lone woman he stopped and kept some distance just to be safe. ”What are you doing out here! Are you looking to freeze!? Maybe it was Luke that noticed it first or the horse, but something didn't look right. Zephyr wouldn't keep still and if Luke wasn't so large he might of bucked.
This woman didn't seem right at all. It took little to raise Luke's suspicion but she didn't even look real. Close up she was almost misty at the edges. The snow was shimmering from the sun, and showed every transparency about her. From Kain and his many stories. He knew exactly what she was. Unsheathing his sword. His voice was a little less than a shout.
”State your business Spirit. If I'm nothing to do with it than I shall take my leave at once. I have no wish to be taken up with ghosts.” It was the honest truth. Too many killed on his behalf. His blood ran a little cold thinking this could even be one of them. Lost in the wilderness of Sylira. Godless and weeping. |
