The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

"I'm grateful you feel that way as well. I was worried I was going crazy," Arev said. She grabbed her quiver and sorted out any arrows that needed repair. "Why don't we leave after you've eaten?"

Once she was satisfied with her arrows, she checked her bow for any manner of damage. The stone was still where she left it, and the Kelvic picked it up carefully. She was still worried about if it decided to do something strange. Her wolf form was probably safer than her human form--magical items tended to react to people more than animals, or at least so she understood.

"It makes me nervous," she admitted, turning it over in her hands. "Maybe it's because I don't use magic, but I'd feel safer holding a poisonous snake. What if it blows up, or summons something? What is it even for?"

Rivaal nodded and started digging through the food they had left. There was still some of the venison, dried fruit, jerky, some of the good cheese (if he wasn't traveling everywhere, he could afford to eat a little better), and two couple of days old loaves of bread. He divided some of that up to make a meal for the two of them; she had admitted to not eating as well. He didn't bother with the venison since he needed to cook it, but he did grab some of the meat for Arev as he set it all on the earthenware dishes. With light steps, he walked across the room to the table and set a plate to the side of Arev's fletching work, and then set his across from her. "Well, it hasn't done anything yet, so it probably won't react to us," he noted from over her shoulder.

Rivaal reached out and picked the stone up from her hands and set it in the middle of the table with a grin. "Maybe it's just a fancy centerpiece," he said jokingly. Ignoring his meal, he dropped down beside her and put an arm around Arev in an act of comfort. "Relax. I said I'd look after you, didn't I?" He rubbed his hand up and down her shoulder for a few moments before pulling away and getting up. "Just worry about your arrows and eating. We can worry about the stone while we're out," he determined with a certain nod.

"So what else do we need to worry about?" he asked as he sat down and took a bite of his bread. It was getting stale. It would probably last another day, he figured, so he'd finish it later and they could pick up more on their way back home. He tried to add a reassuring smile as bits of light blue speckled his eyes.

"Well, there are beasts in the area, but few enough," Arev said, sniffing the meat before chewing on it contently. She had the inexplicable urge to wag her tail when Rivaal petted her shoulder. "Rain too. I could smell the clouds coming down from the mountains. You should dress warmly."

She watched him almost adoringly with golden eyes, reveling in the feeling of having a master. This was why Kelvic spent so long searching for the right person--when you finally found them, it was worth every minute of the time. She wolfed down the rest of her meat and yawned happily. For poor Rivaal's sake, she'd even reluctantly allowed him to start cooking her meat a little bit.

"I'm getting a little bit better at fletching. I had to strip it off some of these arrows many times and start again, but it was worth it. Someday, maybe my hand will be as steady as Da's was," the wolf Kelvic said with a touch of pride in her voice. She smiled down at her handiwork and ran her fingers over the smooth ash shafts before looking back up at the Vantha. "When do you want to leave? After you've eaten? The sooner we're rid of this thing, the better."

Rivaal stood, but didn't have to walk far to grab his spear. He checked the point, and the edge of the spear. He hadn't used it in a while, but it was still in good shape. He was satisfied and leaned it against the table. He supposed it was enough to go out and brave the world for a bit. "So, bring something warm, arm myself, bring the shiny rock, and don't worry about anything because I've got a trustworthy companion with me. Got it."

He wasn't sure about what else there was to bring, so he went back to eating. He paused once more. "And probably some travel food." He reached over and picked up one of the arrows and twirled it in his fingers. "This is a nice arrow, though I'm not one to be able to tell."

"Thank you," Arev said with a pleased flush of her cheeks as she took the arrow from him. "And we shouldn't have to go far. It's less than half a day out to the place where I found it, at least as the wolf runs. WIll you be alright holding my clothes if I have to shift? I can't take them with me, but I'll need them when I change back. It's awkward to explain to the Shinya why you're running around in the woods naked. They're not very understanding when it comes to that."

Kelvic hardly minded nudity, since they spent so often changing from form to form. It was hard for her to understand that there were certain taboos in other societies about running around without clothing. Still, fabric did have its uses. For instance, pockets. Wolves had no pockets. It was a terrible shame, too.

Rivaal laughed. "If we get into a situation where you need to shift, sure, but if it's because of danger, I'll save what I can." He was still waiting on hearing about his job, and it wasn't happening. Maybe the Shinya didn't like he was sharing a room with a Kelvic? He didn't really know.

He gave Arev a kind smile. "Don't worry. I'm looking out for you too." He looked over at the stone and then curiously back at Arev. "So, one more time. What are we going to do with the stone? Just put it back?"

"I was hoping you would know," Arev admitted. "I have no experience with magic or magical artifacts. I would just leave it lying around, if I wasn't worried who might get their hands on it. Maybe there will be more clues about its nature at the site where I found it. But beyond that, we should probably ask someone in the city. Or I would say we should, if we weren't no one."

The Kelvic scratched behind her ear pensively, looking at the stone for a long moment. "All I know is, it makes me uneasy. I can feel it...pulling. What if it's not a rock? What if it's something else, like an egg of some creature? Will we get in trouble for having it in the city?"

Everything about that stone made her more nervous the longer she thought of it. Magic tended to make her uncomfortable, unless it was coming from someone she trusted like Rivaal. This was well out of her sphere of knowledge.

Rivaal thought for a long moment. "If it's an egg, then there's a lot of trouble for keeping it here. We'd be better off getting rid of it. If it's magic, I think I wouldn't want it either, just in case someone dangerous comes looking for it."

It was wracking his brain, deciding what to do with the stone. "Maybe we can hide it somewhere, and go out to check on it from time to time while we figure out what it is?" The problem with magic, was even if you knew about it, it was hard to spread that knowledge out beyond one field. This was something well out of his field as well. "I mean... What else can we do? Maybe just leave it somewhere in town, and hope something doesn't go wrong?"

Your previous thread was never put in my office - I had assumed it was still going on. I just started skimming this one, I noticed there was a reference to a 'magical stone'. Because of Lhavit's current situation I would rather not have magical artifacts being handled without my consent.

I will grade the other thread; once that is complete I will PM you of what can be done.

Do not post in this thread until this is removed.
