Cool summer mornings were a blessing in disguise as many Drykas males were busy packing large caravans for a long trip to Riverfall. Their summer trade routes were beginning early to get a step up on their competition from the other major cities. It took a good amount of time and information for Trios to track down the leader of the large Endrykas caravan but the feeling of jubilation at finding the man was somewhat salted by the fact that he knew this trip would be costly.

“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to get out of this city…I also take it that you won’t be offering free trips from the kindness of your heart?” Grumbled Trios looking at a shirtless and tattooed Drykas who apparently was the leader of the Caravan. It was kind of hard to appear intimidating when the other man lay blissfully against his Caravan as his men behind him worked to load their wagons. Another thing was that the Drykas knew that Trios needed his service and not the other way around.

“75 mizas, and I’ll even let you sit upfront instead of tucked away against the furs” Joked the Drykas knowing he had the Isur by his blue man parts. Trios knew it and he didn’t like it as he was sure the Drykas was most likely milking him for all he could. The price caused Trios cursed beneath his breath before reaching for his money. The sound of gold rimmed mizas jingling made the caravan leader smiled arrogantly.

“All right I accept the price…..I’ll toss my things in one of your wagons than…..(I’ll be damned if you charge me to load my own gear.)” Said the Isur tossing the leader his money before muttering the last bit under his breath. The Drykas gave an appreciative wave at the transaction when Trios left limping on his cane to gather his things.

Riverfall couldn’t come quick enough the smell of horse droppings and hunting banter was wearing thin. Part of the Isur’s foul mood was a result from the throbbing pain in his right leg as he moved in the cool summer morning. Hopefully the healers in Riverfall would have the proper means to fix the damage, using a cane to walk was an irritation he’d love to lose.

“Soon….soon enough things’ll finally go my way” Growled the Isur darkly thinking about his future. Riverfall would be a perfect opportunity to fulfill his goals. Soon enough he’d be free with the wind would be in his face again and water below his feet. The price of freedom he knew would be steep, but he’d gladly pay it when the time came.

Conrad hoisted his backpack a bit higher on his shoulder, ignoring the indignant squawks from his sleepy parrot as he did so, to get it a bit more comfortable. He cursed his own lazy packing as the left strap of his backpack continued to bite in his left shoulder. He really should fix that when he found the time for it and just continued to look for the guy in charge of the caravan, occasionally asking a drykas where he could find the guy in his broken pavi, though most of the people only vaguely knew where he would be. Letting out a tortured groan as he continued his search, hoping that Trios had more luck with finding the guy.

After almost an entire bell of looking around he finally found the guy, lazing in the still low morning sun as his men where loading up the caravan. Stopping in front of him he looked down at the man.
“So how much miza's does it take for you to take me with you on the trip towards riverfall?” Conrad asked. The man just cracked open his eye and gave him a look over.
“Its 75 miza's, you can throw your pack in the caravan over there.” He lazily pointed towards a caravan standing on their right. “Just don' t hit the isur that is sitting in it with your pack if you do that, he seemed like the grumpy sort.
Conrad let out an amused chuckle when he heard that, that was trios alrigtht, throwing the money he owed towards the man he walked of towards the caravan and clambered inside.
“Yo Captain, sorry I'm late.”

“Can you believe it Seventy-Five miza’s for a wagon ride, I guess that means if we were ever to take travelers on our ship it’d have to be a minimum of one hundred miza’s. Hell I wouldn’t give them a hammock for that low price they’d have to sleep on the bloody floor….”

Trios didn’t even say hello to the young man as Conrad wiggled his way into the wagon. Trios just went into a quiet rant about the cost of living now-a-days and how cheap things would be when the duo had their own means of transportation.

“…..Please tell me they at least gave you a fair deal? By-the-way… Weren’t you trying to get all friendly with them? Or do you have to have one of those wavy tattoos on your body to get a discount?” Sighed Trios coming to an end on his ranting. Shaking his head, the man tried to rattle out the thought that this caravan had indeed raked the two over a trough for money. The more the Captain tried to shake this realization the more he scowled coldly.

But after a few moments Trios seemed to relax before tossing an apple from his pack to Conrad before grabbing an apple for himself. These were the last of the red fruits in the Isur’s backpack and Trios wanted to at least replace the foul taste in his mouth with something appetising. Tacking a large bite and savouring the sweet flavour a smirk cracked the cold exterior of the man’s face.

“An Apple a day right? Maybe this will keep you away from trying to fix my leg again...I’ll have you know it still hurts like shit on cold nights” Laughed Trios coldly at his pathetic turn of phrase, it was going to be long trip if Trios didn’t entertain himself somehow.

Conrad wasn't offended when Trios just skipped the normal pleasantries and went straight to the point. Just taking his backpack from his back and dumping it in front of him, just ignoring most of trios's rant about the costs of living, or something like that, and settled down in a comfortable spot. His little buddy took flight and landed on one of the bags filled with some kind of grain sitting besides trios, eyeing the isur with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Giving the parrot a warning stare before shaking his head at Trios's question.
“Nope, they ripped me of to.” He shrugged and began rearrange the items in his backpack, hoping to even out the weight a bit. “and the man that was the boss of this caravan wasn't a drykas as far as I know, probably just hired a few drykas to guide his bussines through the grasslands and goes towards syliras without them. I could be wrong about it though. But I didn't see any tattoos on him.”
His musings where cut short when Trios pulled out an apple and made a slight at his doctor skills.
Conrad just looked at his backpack in shame.
“I already said I was sory for that.” Conrad muttered. "But at least you'll get your leg back when we are in riverfall."

“If I really thought you’d wrong me I’d have broken your leg, you did what you could…….and if you still look shameful about the job I might just break your leg anyways out of sheer principle.” Groaned Trios rolling his emerald eyes in annoyance at seeing the shame in Conrad’s apperance. The man really didn’t understand why the human was so upset at his novice work, did he want him to pat his head, tell him it was a good effort and the world loved him for it. Life just wasn’t that friendly or naïve to what others would think so way did Trios have to make an attempt at candy coating it. It was a novice patchwork done by a novice doctor, by that logic kid should have been holding his head up. After all, if a man didn’t stand up for himself it’d be better to just simply drown his self in the earth he kneeled in.

“Ivak’s prison kid didn’t your pop ever teach you to hold some respect for your work….even the, for lack of a better word, shittier pieces of work” Questioned Trios uncaringly picking a small fragment of apple peel from his teeth. The Isur thought he may have been too nice to the young man with the last statement. But he couldn’t have Conrad being all pathetic as a result from the Isur’s casual jeers.

“Unless….. You do have a mother or father? I was under the impression that humans always did unless you guys really pop out of the ground like weeds and have been playing a trick on the entire world” Chuckled the Isur watching Conrad’s bird for any inkling of trickery.

Conrad shook his head when trios began his rant about he should be feeling proud about his work, that wasn't at all why he was feeling bad about the botched job on trios's leg.
“Well thats not why I'm sorry about the leg, I did the best I could for your leg and if I hadn't done anything about your leg you would probably been of even worse then you are right now.” Conrad's voice became a bit more enraged, though it was easily seen that it was not aimed at the isur.
“I should have know that I did a petching shoddy job and just would have brought you to another doctor to check for mistakes at leasts they would have caught it. But no I was just to damned sure of myself that it would all heal right and that the most you would get for it would be a few scars from the messy stitches.” Conrad scoffed.

“My pa would have kicked my arse the whole way to riverfall if he found out what a big mistake I made for that.” Conrad shook his head again and closed his backpack, finished with reshuffling the entire mess and wanting to drop that part of the conversation as quickly as possible.
At Trios's rather weak joke conrad just chuckled a bit. “Nah, like I said I got a pa had a ma, she died at the hands of zith slavers, or thats what pa told me anyway he never liked to talk about what happened to her. But it doesn't matter to much anyway, never knew her and nothing would ever have changed that, so why beat you up about that.”

Conrad's little buddy just looked back at the isur before ignoring him and continuing to eat from the few nuts conrad gave him a few moments before.

“Well past is the past anyway……But I do have to admit my curiosity is peaked at how on earth did you grow up in Riverfall with those Akalaks? I mean didn’t your Pa realize that he was living in a human minority, not to mention he was raising a kid in a rather unfriendly city if my tales lead me to believe so” Trios replied pulling his hat over his eyes as he took a more relaxed lean against the wagon. Ignoring Conrad’s rather heated emotions about his medical mistakes, the Isur admitted he held no concern about how the kid was beating himself up over this issue.

“ I once heard a tale of a Akalak breaking a man’s arms for just looking at his women, another rather interesting yarn of a different Akalak making sure a human couldn’t reproduce after his women might have spent a night in previously mentioned human’s bed.” Trios darkly chuckled at the story thinking about how a young human male would have to be on guard at all bells of the day. It almost made Trios’s young life seem way more appealing on the dangerous seas than to be cooped up in that city.

Storyteller Notes

I'm sorry to see that this thread ended so abruptly, but I enjoyed the few posts that were available. I noticed that you seem to have already deducted the caravan travel fee from your ledger (if that deduction is for this thread), excellent job keeping on top of that. I couldn't find much to give you XP wise because most of this was light banter between characters, but I did give you a point each in storytelling (for the "tales" at the end) and negotiation (for trying to haggle with the caravan leader).

If you have any questions or concerns about the rewards you obtained, please feel free to send me a PM about it. If you feel that I've not given you experience or lore for something that you feel you deserve, I'd be more than happy to take a second look at the thread.
