Summer in the Year 511 AV, Day 67

Thumppity thumpitty thud!! Crash clang bang!! "eh ha he haw hic!" sounded of Hakulo's drunken uncle back from a full night's indulgence. He stumbled in through the door and as he was taking his remaining clothing off to rest in his small hovel. Uncle, had tripped over an empty keg falling over and knocking the vase of flowers he kept just as a gift to give to any female Ephyarian that would happen to just need that extra push to join him for the night. "Hey!? Hakulo, will ya help your ole uncle up?..Hakulo?"

Hakulo rose from his interrupted slumber sighing in a bit of disgust. Hakulo really did hate this recurring occurrence of seeing his last known family member practically drink himself away to the afterlife. Why did his uncle never attempt to make something of himself other than a mere drunkard parading the streets with another whorish woman each night? Why wasn't he more like his parents that had been geared towards advancing in society? But, Hakulo realized that his uncle was not and would not ever be his parents and he would have to accept his uncle's position in society as his own. If only my parents had introduced me to their social circles before...this. "Oh all right you ole coot." Hakulo stated in the common language and "Drunk bastard." In Arumenic.

Hakulo placed his hands under his uncle's four arms and his remaining two upper hands on the wall behind for support to lift the large man. "Huaah! Ther you go uncle. Now, do you need some help getting to your...nope." Uncle, stumble-walked over to where the group of pillows laid on the floor and fell just short four feet passing out cold. "Of course not sleep anywhere you like..." Hakulo said with a hint of sighing while shaking and holding his head. "I haven't have time for this! I've got things to do."

Hakulo was the complete opposite of his uncle's character. He would not allow himself through his parents teaching to reach such a low level. He was ingrained with a sense of self improvement, honor, and truth. Yet, this was done without the influence of Hakulo subscribing to a deity. His two parents were of two different gods and made an agreement to let Hakulo choose his own god in time. However, Hakulo had not chosen. He did not see what purpose they really had at this point in his life. All that mattered as he saw it was trying to be a virtuous person in probably the one of the most lustful city in all of Mizahar.

Hakulo needed to clear his mind of his disgust with his uncle. So, he went to the wide clearing in the back alley which provided just enough space to safely twirl around his fathers old double end spear. Hakulo would watch his father do the same when he was younger. His father said that the spear would meld with his body and understand how he was feeling. Then draw the impurities out of his body and cleansing the warrior. He would always say that "not only do you need to know the spear but the spear needs to know the wielder. Then the purest form of fighting pleasure can be achieved." Hakulo took the spear in his middle left hand twirling it side to side, over his head, and every two rotations pierce the air in front of him then behind him.

Summer in the Year 511 AV, Day 67

After a small span of spending time on building the relationship between spear and wielder, Hakulo, made his way back to his uncle's hovel to place the spear back into the locked chest with a special in lay to hold the spear. Walking into the hovel he looked over at his uncle and saw that he had crawled to the appropriate place for sleeping. "Yes, now, that might be where sleeping occurs." Hakulo thought as he released a slight chuckle. Kneeling down in the corner next to the chest he placed the spear with respectful ease. "There, rest...my sharp witted friend."

Then Hakulo dressed up into some loose fitting clothing appropriate for the work he would perform during the day in The Pillar of dust part of Anhatep. The tools he had to take with him were next to the door. He walked out the door grabbing the tools and in about five minutes of walking he had made it to the slums. "Hey, Hakulo! Bout time you get here! I need these crates of Mirage moved over to the stand. It seems last night was more ruthless than ever. You will have to repair the cart, take the Mirage, and rebuild half the stand before noon before the dusk eaters start showing up. Hurry."

"Yes, sir. I shall get on it right away." Hakulo found the cart with both wheels broken by the thrown fighter of a brawl last night's landing. The right side wheel was still useable but the left side was not. Luckily the wheels were just made of readily available barrel lids due to the extravagant consumption of alcohol. He found a wheel lying up against the nearby wall that was useable for this purpose. He took the new lid and chiseled a small round hole with the hammer he had built that was nothing more than a stick tied to a rock and his chisel that was just a small wedged piece of steel. He place the two wheels back onto the wooden axel held in place loosely by two pins.

"There good as almost new!" He said at the sore sight of a cart before him. "Oh, well its good enough for what I need to do." Hakulo, took the cart in his hands by the two handles taking it to the crates of Mirage he needed to load and take over to the stand. It was not to difficult to lift the mirage into the cart but it was difficult to keep any of the mob in the square from sneaking a part of the mirage freely. It would have been nigh impossible to make it across the bazaar with any of it had it not been for the two cutthroat escorts armed with daggers.

Summer in the Year 511 AV, Day 67

Finally making it across the bazaar, Hakulo took a quick look at the stand that most likely had a dazed Ephyarian doped up on Mirage fall over onto it last evening. "It will be an easy fix." He thought. "I'll just bring five more loads over and use four of these crates to make a makeshift table while triple stacking the crates. The dosages that will be on the bottom might be smaller in size for today but they will be just as potent. I'll tell the scorpion that he could make a special sale today by selling the same amount for more, claiming that its twice as potent and half the size."

When, Hakulo made it back over to the mirage warehouse he told the Scorpion the situation of the stand and the possibility of doubling his profit for the day.

Summer in the Year 511 AV, Day 67

The Scorpion Hakulo worked for had a scar crossing from his left eye down to the middle of his right cheekbone that stood as a marker in this part of Dust town. He drew out one of his curved daggers laid it on the table and spun it around on its tip with pondering, "Hmmm...hmmm..." The scorpion's "associates" then placed thier hands on their daggers in case he gave the word. He raised his upper left hand to signal them to stay their blades. "Come, sit here Leon!"

"Its, hakulo, sir."

"Ahh, yes Hakulo, indeed. Do you like wine Le--er--Hakulo?"

"No, sir. I've never really been a fan of it."

The scorpion's and the Ephyrian associates' standing within earshot eyes widened slightly.

"What your not a--how bout today you have some. Hey, you there fetch us some wine for me and Leon here."

"Its--"

"Ahh, yes, Hakulo?"

"Yes."

"And Hakulo."

"Thank you , sir, but I'd rather not."

The scorpion placed his hands onto Hakulo's wrist's that were on the table and tightened his grip. "Really I insist. You'll love it."

Summer in the Year 511 AV, Day 67

The associate brought back the wine bottle carrying two clay cups. She laid the cups out one in front of the Scorpion first then Hakulo. She attempted for a few seconds to pop the cork when the Scorpion wasn't looking until she was slightly berated for being slow. "Here you weakling hand it here." demanded the scorpion. "Do I have to do everything on my own these days!? Thanks Krysus I have people like you working for me Hakulo. I never need to ask you to do anything...you just do it. Your almost my own private fox." The scorpion grabbed the whip at his side slashing it through the air landing right on the nose of the associate. "Let that be a lesson to you and the rest of you lot!"

Hakulo felt slightly even more uncomfortable after the scorpion had said that. Especially, once the escorts tightened and loosened their grips on the daggers they held in the sheaths. The somewhat fat one made a grunt as he turned and walked over to the shaded area against the wall. Hakulo didn't quite know whether he was grunting at the comment or grunting because of his extra baggage he had to move with each step.

*pop*

Then the scorpion began to pour Hakulo's wine cup first as a sign of reward towards a valuable worker. Then he poured into his cup and lifted it to clang against Hakulo's cup. The two cups touched and made an echoing sound followed by a splash of wine onto the table from the breaking of the cups. "What the---You sorry wench! I said to bring us cups not broken pieces!" The scorpion reached for the whip once more to whip the associate. After two times of harder whipping than the first series which caused the girl to wail in sheer terror, Hakulo grabbed the scorpion's hand in mid-swing. "Please, this is depressing the mood." The two escorts half drew their daggers eagerly awaiting the chance to take revenge on Hakulo for the insults they received earlier. The Scorpion took a stark look at Hakulo changing his grip on the whip. This made Hakulo doubt the action he had just done. "Great now he's going to whip me or let those angry idiots slit my throat. Well done stupid. This is where Hakulo the Great becomes famously dead."

"Hmm...I suppose your right, Hakulo. Haha, yes, your right this girl is depressing the mood. You two take her away and get her out of my sight. She has done enough harm today. Now where were we...ah yes, wine." The scorpion took a sip directly from the bottle and made a slight twinge. "Woo...that's some strong stuff. Here." The scorpion handed the bottle to Hakulo." Hakulo took the bottle without thinking and poured a sip into his mouth because he was more worried about the girl that had disappeared. He knew all to well what those two escorts had in mind when they grabbed her by the four arms she had. It wasn't pretty and she might be dead within a few minutes if something didn't stop them...but who. Him? How? He didn't have a weapon to use and every single one of the associates still standing around were armed to the teeth. He couldn't just sit there and do nothing while the poor girl was about to be harmed inside deeply. Then the taste of the horridly strong wine crossed his mind and spat the vile liquid out of his mouth.

"HAHA!" Laughed the Scorpion. "Told ya it was strong." Hakulo didn't much pay attention to what he was saying as he shook there nervously looking towards the opening of the alleyway. The scorpion looked at Hakulo and traced where his stare was looking. "Oh I see. You are still worried about that terrible wench they probably took back there having taking a working bonus back there. Hey where is that Hawk fellow walking about now. I think...Oh there you are, Hawk sir. Is this the boy you saw playing soldier in the alley."

"Hmm...why yes it is. He would make an excellent guard." Re.plied the Hawk fellow

"Great then we have a deal, Hawk. Nice doing business with you. Well Hakulo what are you waiting for go kill them and save the girl." Stated the Scorpion.

Hakulo stood up taking three steps before realizing what the scorpion had just said. "What?? Kill them!? Are you mad? and in front of a Hawk you give that order! He'll arrest you certainly."

"As will I arrest you Hakulo for attempted murder right where you stand since I see you have taken the initiative. If I may suggest, going ahead and ending the lives of those two back there in that alley. They have committed far worse crimes and it is about time they receive some justice don't you say?"

"You see Hakulo...I have always had your best interests at heart because I am an honorable man. And your best interests now is to go ahead and save that girl and be coerced into the guard by this fellow here, because if you do so those two soon to be corpses will be forgotten by everyone here. This hawk has paid me handsomely to deliver you to him as a recruit for the Courtyard of Jackals because your one of those heroic types. So all you need to do is..."

The Hawk interrupted, "...sign here and you can slay them legally under my orders." Hakulo only took a second to sign the piece of paper the Hawk gave him. It didn't take long for him to realize he had no choice other than to die or be imprisoned neither of which was better than the alternative of serving in the Anhatep Guard. "Fine...their I'm a damn fox now." Hakulo started to walk to the alleyway to deal with the two escorts."Hey, mister hero, where you think your going? Did I tell you you could go back there and...no I didn't did I? DID I!!" stated the Hawk. "You stop right there soldier!" Two more guards came up to Hakulo and restrained him along with the two escorts that walked from around the corner. "We gots you now pig!" said the fat escort.

"Today, Hakulo you will learn the lesson of authority. I will have you watch that girl die at the hands of these two brigands here while you do nothing. Is that understood!?"

Hakulo huffed his hair out of his face.

"I ASKED, IS THAT UNDERSTOOD!!"

"Yes, sir."

"Good."

The two escorts walked back to the girl in the alleyway followed by Hakulo and the two guards that restrained him. They made Hakulo sit on a small cropping of stone attaching two chains to his upper two arms meant to restrain him down and out of reach of saving the girl.

Summer in the Year 511 AV, Day 67

"How dare you do such a thing!" Hakulo exclaimed pulling on the chains with his hands testing to see how strong they were. "Quiet! You dustmite! go on you two get your bonus for today." said the Hawk. "About time this party got started." said the smaller in size escort crackling his knuckles eying over the tied down associate's body. The associate's eyes began to widen in horror locking onto Hakulo's moonlight blue eyes. It was as if she were telling him to save her telepathically. "Help, save me Hakulo. Help...Help...ahh!"

The fat escort pushed the other out of the way saying, "hey...me first...you go uh...have at that side of her." The pair began to rip off the ragged clothing off the associate followed by screams of fear. She laid there bare and cold under the squelching heat fully exposed. Tears ran slowly down her cheeks that she could not wipe away with her bruised hands. Where she had been whipped earlier had turned into bloody whelps running across numerous parts of her body. For a moment the two escorts decided to just take in the sight of the naked Ephyrian because it had been a very long time since the last one they had saw. "Wow she is a beauty isn't she." said one of the nearby soldiers.

Even without all the additional makeup the associate shone under the Sun of Syna. Hakulo did take a moment as well to acknowledge her beauty but quickly returned to the struggle of trying to end this madness. Then he felt a sharp pain go across his back making him cringe. He looked behind him spotting the Hawk now holding the scorpion's whip. "Go on. Move again this is so much fun teaching a new recruit."

*whip*

"Aagh!" Hakulo let out as a slight sigh trying to hold the pain in. "What was that soldier?" Whip! This whip tore through his shirt showing part of a bloody line begining to form. Hakulo realized that each time he now made a move or a sound that the Hawk would try to whip it out of him. The girl now began to show slight shivers of fear as the two Ephyarian males began to take pleasure with her body running their hands all up and down her sensual frame. Hakulo then tried to make another move towards the girl followed by a whip landing on the back of his right elbow.

Bored with just running their eight hands slowly over her ribs, petite breast, and lengthy legs the two started to intensify the repertoire. The larger sized escort made his way to her more sensitive areas with his hands as the lesser escort began placing his head smothered into her bosom. The associate then started to scream wildly but was interrupted with a whip-strike that landed just below her left eye. "Shutup whore!" said the scorpion reequipped with his whip finally giving what he saw as due punishment. Then they were followed by whips separated by mere seconds tearing cuts into her once beautiful skin. Hakulo once again pulled strongly on the chains that restrained him nearly coming close to dislodging his right arm. Looking over at that chain he saw the hooked nail began to loosen from the stone wall. "Only a bit more...Aah!" Another whip-strike landed on the front of Hakulo's chest causing his left nipple to sway in the breeze. An intense pain wrecked over his body as the Scorpion began to laugh at what he had just done. "Haha, look boys!"

"Damn you all to Uldr! I will kill you the next chance I get!" said Hakulo now infused with an intense anger towards everyone around him. "Oh look someone is still trying to mister hero...haha." The group of soldiers and scorpion employes followed in laughter. It seemed as if each and every scream the girl and he made the pain that fell onto the both of them got worse. It had been quite awhile since the ordeal started and both of them were now showing signs of sunburn in between the collection of bloodied wounds from the countless whip-strikes.

"Hurry up boys or she will be nothing but an overcooked brisket lying in that sun." stated the Scorpion standing over the girls face dripping piping hot wax on what little was left of her remaining skin. Hakulo could hear the wax singing her skin to a crisp as a horrid smell struck his nose. Then he noticed that the left hooked nail in the stone had finally loosened slightly. "Good...almost...just a little..." More did the two escorts enter into the girl's wretched mind as evil fiend taking advantage of her with each pulse of her terrified heart. Pulse. Scream. Whip. Pulse. Moan. Whip. Scream, Whip, Pulse, Moan, Whip, Scream Pulse Whip Pulse Scream! Began to repeat faster and faster echoing in Hakulo's mind as the girl wrenched around the stone table she lay upon making muffled screams with each blow to her psyche. It didn't matter though because Hakulo could hear them as if they were made point blank to his ear drums.

Hakulo began to pull on the chains more and more tightly as the two escorts ravaged the poor girl to death. He too had thoughts of pain wrenching his body faster and faster until his mind became overwhelmed with an intense feeling of anger. His faced drew up into a heathen looking expression filled with rage and intent to kill. "Must...must save her...get free...save free...must free get save!" Hakulo's mind raced endlessly until the two hooked nails finally broke free pulling chunks of stone from the wall and pieces of flesh from his badly cut wrists. He only hesitated for a second before tripping the nearest Ephyarian soldier with a spear and charged at the two escorts. He jumped into the air using the stone table the girl was laying on to get leverage falling into the lesser escort with the tip of the spear through his head causing blood to shoot every where.

Hakulo felt as if he was being guided by something other than himself. He pulled the spear out of the escort's head spinning around to see the shocked expression over the other escort and scorpion's eyes. As they hesitated he lodged the spear into the escort's chest just before he felt the whip wrap around his left leg. The whip pulled him into a tumble falling forward into the fat escort. On the way down to the ground Hakulo through the spear like a javelin surprising himself when it landed in the middle of the scorpions throat. Thud. Hakulo landed onto the ground, looked up and could see the soldiers running at him with clubs. Thump! Thump! Thump! A peaceful blackness began to fade over Hakulo's eyes as the horrific screams of the ravaged girl ceased.

"See. I knew I was right in choosing this lad. He has, quite the fire in him. He will make a fine soldier." said the Hawk looking at the newly bloodied scenery. "It's a shame though...for a second I thought he would actually save the girl." Rolling the now fully dead mutilated corpse of the associate. "Tie him up and carry him to the barracks. His journey has just begun."
"Lying there in the dim moonlight covered in my own thickened blood, I enter into serenity, while looking into the moon's eyes as it looks back at me reflecting its humble guiding light off my irises showing me the way to the afterlife."
