New to the City [Delvan]

Postby Serpente Morsus on August 8th, 2011, 9:29 am

Serpente waited for the boy to get up on his horse so they could leave. As the horse walked over to Delvan he smiled, it was a beautiful horse. Serpente had always liked horses but never met anyone who could learn him to ride one, therefor he had never had any reason to buy one even though he had enough money for it, it was one of the biggest reasons he was there at all.

He chuckled as the boy fell to the ground. What a playful horse this boy had, Serpente liked it. He decided that he would stay here for awhile, make sure he could learn to ride a horse and get one for himself. The boy jumped up on the horse. They started to move though the city of tents and Serpente moved next to them. "So, how long have you had him?'", Serpente asked as he lighlty patted the horse.

New to the City [Delvan]

-"So, how long have you had him?'" Serpente said to Delvan. Quite flattered by the answer, he responded:
-"Let's see...It must've been three cycles since the day me and this fella' met." He said has he patted Firemane's shoulder, thinking back at the day they met, that bond he felt between them.

Once they reached Delvan's tent a little bit on the edge of Endrykas. Delvan loved to look out at the sea of grass, it calmed him somehow. The tent was big enough to house 4 persons. He stopped and looked at the tent, Sheina, eager to dry off from the rain ran inside before the others. Delvan realised five couldn't be in there at the same time.

-"Go on in" He instructed Serpente. Once everyone was inside but him, he sat in the entrance, it gave him little cover from the rain but he didn't mind. To his dismay a short pause occured. So he reached for his precious family dagger, it had no scabbard so he letted it rest in his belt when it was not in use. He played with the dagger, stroking his finger along the blade, waiting for Serpente to catch his breath.

"Let's see...It must've been three cycles since the day me and this fella' met."
"Oh, that's a pretty long time", Serpente said and smiled. He was sure he was gonna buy one of his own before he left the moving city. His mind wandered of a little as he started thinking of what color he wanted on the horse. People were staring at him, but he'd gotten used to it now. When he first tried to buy supplies he had been denied and met with eyes that were afraid of him. He guessed that Akalaks weren't such a common thing around here.

"Go on in", he heard Delvan say as they stopped in front of a tent. Serpente entered. It was similar to his own tent that he lived in and he felt at home. He sat down and pated teh dog a little, after awhile he wondered where Delvan had gone. He stuck out his head and found Delvan sitting there, holding a blade.
"Not planing to kill me are you?", he said as a joke and smiled.

New to the City [Delvan]

Delvan stared at Serpente and suddenly burst out laughing. After he settled down he spoke:

-"I'm a hunter, I kill my prey. Are you my prey, Serpente? He smiled and pointed the knife at him as a gag. He chuckled and resumed his attention to stroking the dagger. After a quick pause, Delvan looked at Serpente.

-"So, not to sound rude in anyway, but..What are you, really? I've never seen anyone like you here before." He asked, tilting his head a little, and it was true too. Delvan had never seen anyone of Serpente's kin. On the other hand Delvan never met alot of people during his short lifetime.

The rain was pouring harder, Delvan got on his feet and crouched down, continuing to play around with the dagger. He wasn't much for fighting with one, though he'd like to learn someday. So he could have some finesse and strike correctly at a ferocious animal coming a little too close instead of slashing maniacally about hoping to hit something.

"I'm a hunter, I kill my prey. Are you my prey, Serpente?"
Serpente laughed as Delvan pointed the knife at him. People had almost treated him as such when he entered this town, but it seemed like people had gotten used to his presence by now.

"So, not to sound rude in anyway, but..What are you, really? I've never seen anyone like you here before."
"No problem, most people here seem not to know what I am, but i guess not a lot of my kind come through here. I'm an Akalak, well that's what my race is called, not a lot of us left actually. We are an all male race so reproducing is sort of slow", He said and smiled at Delvan. He had seemed so calm around him Serpente had just assumed the boy knew what he was.

Delvan stared at him, suddenly he became interested in Serpente again. He had never heard of an Akalak before.

-"I see..." Was all he could say, he felt a bit awkward hearing the reproduction part. The rain poured on, it smattered hard against the grass.

-"So..." Delvan said, stroking his dagger's handle. -"People hasn't treated you fairly around here I suppose?"

He looked away from Serpente, feeling bad for asking him. Not seeing anything of intrest, he looked back at him, awaiting to get an aggressive response. He knew it was rude to ask but maybe he could help.

"People hasn't treated you fairly around here I suppose?"
Serpente laughed a little. "You suppose correctly, atleast at first, people actually refused to let me shop because they didn't know what I was, seems like a lot of them have gotten used to my presence now though", He said and looked out into the rain.

Now the city was almost completely abandoned, the usually lively streets now laying still under the rain. The shops had been closed up, everybody hiding in their tents, waiting for the rain to stop. Serpente wondered a moment if the shops lost a lot of money having to all their customers leave when it rained, except the taverns and inns which would be crowded by now offcourse.

"So, never seen an Akalak before, not been very far away from the town a lot then?", he asked.
