With his arms draped carelessly across the doorway, Devmond breathed the Dragonsmoke in deeply second hand. This room in particular was now filled with smoke giving the room a veil that made everything seem dreamlike. The beautiful woman, draped like decorative animal furs over her patron, had any flaw washed over by the perfumed fog, and the soft chinking of wine glasses were like chimes, the different pitches depending on the drinker’s eagerness to empty it. If there could be any place that the goddess Nikali could stay at home, it was here in a place that seemed to fulfill the needs kept so long hidden.

When Devmond had first entered the gates of Syliras' outer walls, he had felt the heavy influence of the Syliras Knights the moment the guards had followed him with suspicious eyes. This continued every street he entered, the same guards except with different faces. He had expected their ethically strict code to seep down into every crevice of the city. This place had been discovered by accident, given by a passerby whom he inquired where he could find good-looking distractions. It had been partly sarcasm since the person in question, a gnarled faced Akalak, had given him a nasty look for the Symenestra’s purple-dyed hair. Oblivious to the insult, the old man had smirked and said he’d find some at “The Golden Dragon”.

From the moment he entered the front door, Devmond felt more at home than he had even in his family web. He had never imagined there was somewhere in this wide world he could freely relieve a bit of tension. And in public no less. In Kalinor, his torrid reputation had embarrassed his family. Coming in with tousled clothes and smelling like a whorehouse, his mother often begged him to stop coming home if he walked in so trashed. It took a lot of practice, years even, to figure out how to dress in the dark and manage the rope streets to his house unseen. Eventually, the reputation became housed among only the tavern rats and barmaids the frequented hangout.

Like an disavowed reformed alcoholic in a liquor store, he wandered the Golden Dragon with his restless eyes darting everywhere never knowing where to stop. Devmond realized he must have been on his feet for half-an-hour. Feeling the the tiredness from an overexcited heartbeat, he had to laugh quietly at himself. Patience was not someone he had even attempted to get familiar. There were many other women whom he'd known better, and more could now be experienced simply at a motion of his hand and a whisper of his voice.

[Syliras Location] The Golden Dragon

„How can buildings made of stone and metal float in the air?“ Lucas asked incredulously. „Do your people use magic, Tahera?“ As far as he was concerned, magic was the only way it could work. On the other hand, maybe they captured really large birds and tied them to the building. No, that was ridiculous. The birds would just fly away with the building, and the Eypharians would be homeless. It was probably magic, although he couldn’t figure out what kind of magic it was, and the fact that the beautiful Eypharian stroke his cheek kept him from thinking about it further.

„Perhaps I could“, he agreed. He really liked that she thought him charming. The other squires in the dorms just beat him up or made fun of him. As Tahera rested her hand on his shoulder, he began gently stroking her hair. A part of him really wanted to kiss her, but he wasn’t sure if he was allowed to. In a way the squire felt a bit awkward – and he wished that he had a few additional arms as well so that he could do more than just stroke her hair.

Unfortunately Lucas‘ life was normally pretty dull. Most of it consisted of hitting training dummies or sparring with his fellow squires. Sometimes he also rode until his behind was sore, and he couldn’t sit anymore. He doubted that Tahera wanted to hear about his sore behind though, and thus he decided to just make something up.

„I often go on patrols at night“, he told her. „I fight criminals. If there is trouble in a bar, I’m there. I catch thieves, and I even killed a Zith once!“ That Zith had been a training dummy that he’d painted and decorated with paper wings. He often decorated the training dummies and pretended that they were evil creatures because it was easier to motivate himself that way. „Being a knight is pretty exciting. We knights protect Syliras! And you, Tahera, what do you do? What is your life like?“

Mia

A short figure moved with pretended calm into what was called 'The Golden Dragon'. She wore an average dress in the color red, with a leather belt tied around her waits. She also wore a woolen cloak, and a backpack and rucksack on top of everything. She had a purpose here, but that didn't help her nerves. She's the jumpy sort, Mia.
She looked around, and aproached the one she only knew by name and reputation; Tyras, the owner. Having lived her entire life in Syliras, she'd heard a bit about him and knew he was the owner.

"Hi, I'm Mia. I'm looking for work and word on the street is; you're hiring? Truth is, I really need a job."

She hadn't meant to say the last words, but it had slipped out. It was true, she needed work. She knew some worked as 'company' in the Golden Dragon, and though she hadn't worked as such before, she figured it'd be the same as any other job. Just need to learn and apply some elbow-grease, and you'd be fine. She'd been too close to capture too many times now. She couldn' keep stealing, she'd be caught and have her life reduced to a more miserable state.
Perhaps get sick in the mines and die. No, it was time for a change.

"How dangerous, but certainly exciting!" Tahera's voice was soft, due to their closeness, but certainly held a tone of excitement to it in response to Lucas' claims, "I've always admired those who work to protect Syliras," as she spoke her hand continued to move along Lucas' thigh, moving towards the more sensitive an intimate area, "And I do love showing them my appreciation for all their hard work," she whispered as her fingers just brushed teasingly past Lucas' crotch and to his other thigh.

"My life is hardly as interesting," Tahera continued after a brief moment, her lower left hand stroking Lucas' far thigh now, "I work here, or relax about the city. Certainly not as exciting as your life, though it does have its high points," she turned her head up towards Lucas, their faces just a few inches apart as she softly spoke, "Like when a handsome and charming young Knight comes to partake of my company," even as she stopped talking the Eypharian didn't move away, her eyes focused on his, and even the stroking of her hand stopped as it seemed she was waiting for something.

It wasn't long after Devmond entered into the Golden Dragon that he found himself approached by two girls, 15 or 16 by appearance, or possibly one girl using some magic to mirror herself with how closely the two resembled each other. Both had long white hair that framed their round and soft faces, and provided the only bit of covering on their upper torso. Both women had deep blue eyes that gazed up at Devmond with curiosity, and wore thigh length skirts of the same color. The only other decorations hiding their soft skin from sight were the golden bracelets they wore on their right wrists, and the pale iridescent scales that circled about most of their body.

"Welcome to the Golden Dragon," the two spoke as one, their voices matched in a musical harmony, and curtsied politely to him, "How may we help you this evening?"

Mia

Most people in the Golden Dragon paid little attention to Mia as she moved through the building in search of Tyras. When she finally found him he was coming down the stairs from the upper level, in the middle of lacing back shut his pants, and he had the look of someone who had just been through some physical work.

"A pleasure to meet you Mia," Tyras said with a pleasant smile after her rushed introduction, and gave her a little look over, "If you're in need of a job that desperately then I could certainly use another maid to help keep things clean here. I could offer you seven silver a day," with that he finished lacing his pants and offered Mia his hand, "Is that acceptable?"
My posting and other AS work will be slow for the time being. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and I'll try to get back up and running at full speed soon.

Mia glanced the man over quickly and quickly took his hand to shake. She tried not to think about what he could have been doing, or how dirty he could be, even if he may not look it. Dirt gives you diseases, and diseases can lead to death. She tried to let go as soon as was politely possible. She didn't want to anger him, people could get nasty when angered.

"Deal! Thank you! When do I start, do you need me everyday? I'm all for working everyday."

She was blabbering, but she was nervous and excited, and hoped he wouldn't change his mind. She tried to smile in a friendly way, but it might have come out more nervously, due to her nature.

[Syliras Location] The Golden Dragon

Postby Arden on October 5th, 2011, 12:00 am

Fall 1 511 AV

It was the start of the fall season with the flash of the Watchtower and Arden at last knew he needed to get a grip on his life at last. He knew he wanted to keep cooking and had to find work as a cook in order to do that. He knew cooks were always were wanted anywhere for it was just a simple fact of life and he knew he had the skills to prove he could be a good cook in time.

The golden dragon was one of the places he did want to work in as a cook. It was one of the more upscale places within the castle of Syliras and he knew he would not be in danger of any form of crime even if crime was not a problem in the city due to it was filled with knights on and off duty.

Arden wore just his really only outfit which was a basic cotton tunic and trousers with a pair of brown boots. All in all clearly out of place at least in his own mind as he looked around the golden dragon. After asking around beforehand he knew he had to talk to a person called Tyras Kalvintal.

It did not take long to find the man who seemed very friendly to say the least or it could just be the fact he knew how to run a good bussiness.

"Hello Sir, I am Arden, I was hoping to ask you if you were looking for any cooks. I have pretty good grasp of cooking. Learning somethings of herbalism with a small grasp of food preservation and fishing. I have been cooking for the past nine or so years for myself and my grandfather when he was alive."

Arden wanted to bite along his finger nails out of being so nervous talking to the man and fear of being told no. Yet he fought that basic reaction as he put his hands in the pockets of his trousers before removing them again. Clearly showing signs of being worried by all standards.

„It is very dangerous and very exciting“, Lucas informed Tahera and nodded. As she told him that she admired men who worked to protect Syliras, he grinned all over his face. He definitely liked hearing that! He felt like a really tall, strong knight right now and not like the short, weird kid he really was. The beautiful Eypharian’s words had that kind of effect on him. It was a real boost to his self confidence (not that he was lacking that in the first place). He almost asked her to please show him her appreciation right now!

„I don’t believe you!“ he told her as she doubted that her life was interesting and brought his face very, very close to hers. His hand touched hers (the hand that was on his thigh!). „A woman like you must have a pretty exciting life!“ He was even closer to her now. Did she really think his presence was one of the high points in her life? Or was she just saying that because she worked in the Golden Dragon? He decided to believe that he really was special!

She almost looked like she was waiting for something. Being the inexperienced boy he was, Lucas wondered what that could be for a few moments. And then he just decided to kiss her!

Obviously a social thread, but I felt observation had its place all things considered. Subterfuge was also there for the embellishment about just how awesome Lucas is :D.
