Daeva

Kavala nodded. “There are far more striders than there are Drykas. And yes, it is not a myth, it is the truth. Striders are the ancestors of the Drykas come back to be with their family. But sometimes they get the timing off or they come back to meet other family who isn’t aware they are family. People don’t always come back as horses. They come back as other people, other races, other cultures. You can buy unbonded Striders too. Not ever strider bonds with a rider and not every person who rides a strider is a Drykas.” Kavala said, smiling slightly. “They just have one hell of a gait across the Cyphrus plains.” She said, knowing Daeva would understand if she ever rode the horse she was riding out on the grasslands. Very few non-Drykas ever got the privilege of doing so.

“And I sell them because my people know I won’t sell them to people who will treat them badly. They’ll go only to the best of homes.”
She added.

Daeva’s skill list as somewhat … limited to what she’d need to handle things at Sanctuary. It’d be great to have someone with magic around and the ability to fight with Suvai, and the fact that she was willing to learn a new skill or two to stay meant a great deal. Kavala nodded.

“I can offer you a job as a groom and groundskeeper. You really need no skill for that. But if you are interested in learning medicine or herbalism or even animal husbandry, we have lots of projects ongoing to give you opportunity to do so. We’re trying to breed a city specific breed of hrose for the Akalaks and we have plans for a small kennel as well if you’d like to help with that. We’re not set on the dog breeds we’ll offer though. I think it will just be one or types, nothing elaborate. I have a fine Silkena male, so I might pick up some females for him and breed those. Does anything like that sound interesting? Until you cain some skill, I can’t pay you more than three gold a day. Grooms usually start out at one and simply clean stalls, but if your doing groundskeeping work as well, then it merits the higher rate. The rate can go up as your interests diversify and your skillset grows.”
Kavala added, then clucked at the mare Daeva was riding so she broke into a light trot.

“How do you like her so far? Shall I fetch the other one?”
Kavala asked.

Mizuriel

“It’s nice to meet you all. Especially a healer. I’m in need of a few assistants. We’re getting too big for just me. And foaling is coming up in the spring, with almost two dozen mares about to drop foals, we’ll be incredibly busy. I’ll actually need two or three assistants. Its best if you can do double duty though. I pay seven gold mizas a day and if you want housing here, I’ll cut that down to 5 and waive board for you, your daughter and your pony and provide all the food for everyone.”
She said, knowing that the gardens of Sanctuary and the market trips could handle the extra mouths. “Your daughter can even start learning skills here if she likes.” Kavala said, smiling. “I’m thinking of adding a second story on the guest quarters we have now, so if you help build them like we did for adding the mews on top of Raiha’s quarters, you’ll be guaranteed privacy before the end of spring.” She said then looked thoughtful.

“I require five days work straight, then give you two days of free time. Then you work five more days straight. On your free days you can do whatever you’d like, but if you have chores assigned like feeding animals, then you need to make sure someone is doing them for you. If you take someone’s duties for their free days, they will in turn take your duties for your free days so the days are totally free. Otherwise, the animals still need to eat, still need worked, herbs still need collected, etc. How does all of that sound?”
Kavala asked.

Riki

A number of people greeted Riki, though he suspected it might be a groom that actually pointed him to a Konti that was in the later stages of pregnancy and struggling to carry to buckets of water. She looked stubborn about it, and though he could tell several other people in the stable yard were watching her closely, none moved to take the buckets from her. There was probably a good reason for it too.

Kavala nodded to him as he walked up and set the buckets down, glad to be rid of them for a moment and regretting volunteering to take Mizuriel’s watering duties so he could spend the day with Samantha on a picnic at the beach since for once it wasn’t raining. “Hi there. I’m Kavala. It’s nice to see another healer. What can I help you with?” She said, even as a blond silkena wandered up and touched noses with Riki’s dog. The male dog was friendly but a bit pushy. He looked about a year old, much like Riki’s dog, and seemed to be interested in inviting the female to play. He growled slightly, wagged his tail, and bounced on his front legs, as if inviting her for a wrestle.

Kavala smiled, soothed by the other healers’ gnosis mark and his dog who seemed friendly as well. “We’ve not got a kennels here, but it was one of the projects for this year. That’s a fine girl you have there. What’s her name? The Silkena is Savan which means courage in Pavi. He once tried to eat a Zith who attacked me. He was about four months old at the time.” She said with a smile.

Lakara

Kavala nodded. “It’s nice to meet you too Lakara. Its always good to see other Konti around. I miss them since my visit to Mura. I do have positions available both working in the stableyard training horses and cleaning, and in the clinic doing healing work. I need to know what you are interested in doing and what your skills are. If you are a healer of Rak’keli then that’d be a bonus because I do need a lot of clinic help. But truthfully, working here, even as a groom you’ll be healing and as a healer you’ll be grooming, if you understand. The work is what it is, and we do whatever needs to be done as it comes up.” Kavala added, then smiled. She could feel Rak’keli’s mark on Lakara though, so there was no question she was either a healer or a person aspiring to be one. But she’d let the girl speak for herself.

“So tell me about yourself, your interests, and a bit about your history. What brings you here?”
She said, wanting to know all about Lakara before she hired her.

Lakara listened quietly while Kavala spoke, then she smiled.
"I understand. Sometimes you just have to get on with whatever presents itself at the given time." She paused for a minute to form an answer regarding her skils and knowledge.
"Well, I am marked by Rak'keli." The Konti figured that Kavala had sensed it somehow though, she herself had a feeling that the woman was marked by the Goddess herself. "Though my knowledge in traditional healing methods is somewhat limited. I do, however, wish to learn more in that field." She paused again, running through various skills she thought could be useful in a place such as this. "I also have some knowledge in animal husbandry - I think the term is. You know, the care of animals and such. Not so much the breeding, but again, I'd love to learn. I can also ride, and of course, I'd be willing to help with cleaning." She glanced round the area. "I suspect that one is never short of something to clean here." She smiled again.

As for why she was here, it was relatively simple. "I simply felt it was time to move on. Mura is a wonderful place, but I needed something more. I always wanted to come to Riverfall, and on my way here I heard talk of this place. It just sounded to me like a wonderful project. I want to learn, but I also want to help too." She hadn't revealed much of her family life, but truth be told, there wasn't a lot to it. It was just like any normal family in Mura.

Postby Riki Stormheart on March 7th, 2011, 9:05 pm

A smile lit up Riki's face as the Konti walked up to him. "Nice to meet you Kavala. Believe me, it is great to meet a fellow healer as well. I'm sure you have some great stories about it." He was happy to be greeted so kindly by the woman. He was a little bit scared that he would not be as well received as he wanted. It was scary leaving Endrykas to try healing in a whole new place.

When the Silkena walked up to Sadie she looked at him curiously and wagged her tail playfully. Sadie, much like Riki tended to stand back a bit and wait for others to approach her so Riki was happy to see her already making a new friend. She looked up at him as if asking with her big blue eyes if she could play. "Go ahead Sadie. You might have just made your first new friend!" Sadie let out a little bark and ducked down onto her front paws showing she was ready to play. She pawed at Savan playfully and wagged her tail. "This is Sadie, my Jivatalus Ghost Dog. We have had quite the history and I could not leave Endrykas without her." Riki gave a little wave to Savan and looked at Kavala. "Savan is beautiful. I like the name. It is good to hear my native tongue being used in such a nice way."

Riki's eyes grew wide as he listened to Kavala tell about Savan's story. "Wow, that is amazing. Dogs really are wonderful creatures." Riki's eyes widened as the thought hit him. "Oh yeah, I did not answer your question. I am from Stormheart pavilion of Opal clan and I am hoping to work here. I have experience as a healer and a breeder." He smiled down at Sadie. "Sadie is actually proof of that. Her mother was the first creature I ever used my gift from Rak'keli on and Sadie was from the first litter I helped to breed." He loved her as if she was family. Her mother, Flower was one of his closest friends growing up and through Sadie she could still feel connected to her. "I would love to help with a kennel if you want to start one. I have a good amount of experience with dogs although there is always more to learn."
If Riki is speaking in this color he is speaking in Pavi.
If Riki is speaking in this color he is speaking in Common.

OOCSorry for delaying this a bit, stuff got busy all of a sudden.

Mizuriel smiled slightly as he blinked a couple of times, confusion evident on his facial expression. Kavala did not only respond swiftly and soundly, but she had also said so much that he wondered if he had heard all the important parts. Everything sounded more than acceptable to him, there was just one part he needed to actually review in his mind, the wages. Looking into the distance he tried to do math way beyond what he was capable off, deep within his thoughts. Finally he just shrugged to himself; even while they did need money, five mizas a day was still more than enough for a comforting life. And as a side plus he would always be close to his workplace, and the last, but not the least fact was that this was a good place where Samantha could spend her day while he was working. Maybe he could ever teach her a thing or two?

“I find all of your terms to fit our interests, especially the food part; goddess knows I’m not much of a cook. I will help with the chores and construction as the need arises, and I understand my work hours” one by one he was speaking things that were fading off the list he needed to remember.

“Oh, before I forget to mention it, Samantha doesn’t speak, at all” he looked at her curled up, sleeping body with sadness in his eyes as he spoke.

Not wanting to tear down the mood for too long, he added simply: “If this is all, I have only one further question. When do I start?” he smiled faintly while talking.

Lakara

Kavala nodded. Lakara answered her questions the exact way she hoped she would, She liked the other Konti enormously and thought she’d be a great addition to the staff. With a smile, she did what she thought was appropriate. “I’ll pay you seven gold-rimmed mizas a day to work as a healer here, and you can learn as you work.” She then offered something more. “I’ll let you stay here with u s too, room and board, for less a gold crown a day for your board. Six gold-rimmed mizas is a very fair price for an assistant and you wouldn’t have to find shelter in town which would cost you more.” Kavala said thoughtfully. “We have a common room upstairs we all share Drykas style. You’d have full access to that and to the entire facility included in that is a place to board your horse.” Kavala said, offering Lakara her hand to seal the deal. If she agreed, Kavala would then give her a tour of the facility and show her where she could put her things and help her unpack if necessary.

Riki

“Sadie looks like a lovely dog. I bet Savan would enjoy having her around to play with. He gets lonely with all the big kelvics around here and just other horses. We haven’t really expanded into a kennels yet though I’ve wanted too. Riverfall has no pet shop or resource for people to acquire companion animals.” She smiled at Riki’s response, glad finally she was getting some help for Sanctuary. It wasn’t just ‘help’ either, it was good help. Riki seemed young, but she knew he’d grow into his own. And it was important that the women here had men in the mix too. There were simply things that the presence of men truthfully made better… namely security. She noted he didn’t seem to have a lot of combat, but Kavala knew she could change that. “I recently hired a healer’s assistant. I think I’ll offer you the same deal I gave her. I can pay you 7 gold mizahar’s a day if you simply want a job. If you want a place to stay here with Sadie, who’s completely welcome, then I’ll offer you 6 gold mizahars with room and board and boarding for your dog and any horses you might have in exchange for doing healing, working herbalism, and helping out with chores which I am afraid are just menial cleaning and construction. You can find a place to stay in town if you like, but you’ll have to travel back and forth and you won’t get it as inexpensively as you do here. You’ll have to bunk with someone called Mizuriel, but the room is fairly large and you guys shouldn’t be too much in each other’s way.” Kavala said, extending her hand to seal the deal if he accepted it.

Mizuriel

Kavala smiled, glancing at the child, then back up at Mizuriel. “I normally offer 6 gold mizas and board for work, but I think you’ll be doing a fair bit of babysitting on your own while you are here. And we can offer you breaks so you can get some time to yourself too. Samantha is always welcome to hang with me and learn a few things in the form of classes, that’s why I offer you slightly less for the board of two people and a pony. She can have other animals too if she wants, perhaps a dog, if her response to Savan and the other animals here is any indication. She might just need a friend and a safe stable home to keep her calm.” Kavala smiled, nodding, and carefully gestured so he could follow her on tour. “You can start now. Your pony looks like he might like to be put up and groomed for the night. And tomorrow we’re going to go out and gather winterberry so we can make some balms we can’t have access too in the summer due to the lack of these very special berries. I’ll show you both where you can stay. You’ll have it all to yourself for the time being but you might have a roommate later if I hire more folks. “ And with that, Kavala took Mizuriel on a tour, giving him the info he needed to understand how Sanctuary worked. He had free run to the clinic and even the living quarters upstairs. The main gathering spot was the veranda overlooking the stableyard which was where people took their meals. He’d be expected to cook one meal a week for everyone, regardless if he was a good cook or a bad cook until Kavala could hire some sort of housekeeper, babysitter and chef. Everyone shared in the work, and as he soon discovered, everyone shared everything else as well: Bathhouse, Gardens, Clinic, Living quarters, servants quarters, etc.

But she also did her best to make him feel welcome and comfortable.

Lakara returned the other konti's smile with one of her own. Surely a smile like that was a good sign? She almost felt like jumping for joy and singing out loud at Kavala's words, but she retained her excitement. She not only got work, but she could learn at the same time. It was exactly what she wanted, and she beamed at the konti, about to offer her sincere thanks, 'till Kavala continued to speak, that is.

Lakara grasped the hand that was offered to her.
"Thank you so much. It sounds absolutely perfect. It would be much appreciated if I could stay here too, I have not enquired for lodging elsewhere, and I would be more than happy to earn a miza less for a room." She paused. "As for my horse, the lodging for him would be wonderful too. Also, if you wish, you can use him for stud as my way of thanks. That is, if you want a Windrunner of course."

She cast another glance round the room they were situated in. She wanted to see the rest of the facilities if she could. Xypher was still outside, but he wouldn't go anywhere, not without Lakara, so he would be fine for a little more time.

[Riverfall Location] The Sanctuary

Postby Riki Stormheart on March 12th, 2011, 4:23 am

Riki was more proud of Sadie than anything else in his life. "Thank you. She is like family to me. I am sure she and Savan will get along well. Sadie can be a little shy at times but I'm sure she will blossom a bit with a new friend to play with." He wanted nothing more than for his canine friend to be comfortable. He smiled down at Sadie who was playing with Savan. She was happy, now all the was left was to get a job.

The job that Kavala spoke of was exactly what Riki had wanted when he traveled from Endrykas to Riverfall. "I'd like that Kavala. Sadie seems like she is getting comfortable so it looks like we are off to a good start." Riki smiled at Kavala although on the inside he was overjoyed. He had been worried that he would have been turned down for the job. "I would love to work here. Even the menial work would be fine. We all need to do the tinier jobs at times I suppose." He was used to doing little jobs. His father had made him do smaller jobs when he was younger. As he got older he had gotten into more of the healing but he still remembered the more tedious jobs.

Even though Riki was a more quiet individual he was a little excited to have a room mate. "I would like to stay at the Sanctuary if that is alright. It would make things a lot more easier. That way I could be here if anyone needs me." Riki smiled at Kavala. "Thank you, Sadie and I are looking forward to working here. Well, Sadie will be more into playing but I'll work hard enough for the both of us."

NoteLets wrap this up!

Lakara

Kavala gave her the whole tour, a total run of the facility top to bottom, and a stall for her stallion. "It would be great to have a pure blooded windrunner to put on our available stock list for breedings. That's generous of you. I'll direct anyone who wants a breeding your way and once we get you trained on this you can even collect your own fees. I don't mind. I don't have any windrunner mares in my program, but you never know what folks want that walk through the gates." Kavala said, showing Lakara where to stow her things and where she could sleep. The sleeping arrangements were upstairs in the main building in a communal bed that slept about twenty. Food was prepared downstairs, and Kavala gave her a chore list and two days a week to prepare breakfast for the bunch and one day a week to make lunch and dinner... all on different days. Everyone got a schedule and everyone pitched in.

With that, if she had no more questions, Kavala set her loose to get started unpacking and relaxing. Tomorrow would be soon enough to work.

Riki

Kavala nodded, smiling as she watched the two dogs play. "I think they will do fine here together." She added. "Savan has been the only dog for a long time and with the kelvic cats around here, that can get stressful on him. He'll be glad to have Sadie around for more canine companionship." She added.

"It would be great if you stayed here too. It's easier getting up for earlier chores and dealing with the late nights on foal watch too." She added, showing him a room he could have to share with Mizuriel and where to eat and when. She also filled his name in on the schedule giving him two lunches and a single dinner and single breakfast a tenday to prepare. It didn't matter if he cooked or not, he was still responsible for getting food on the table for everyone that the facility itself provided. "Sadie will have a job too. The dogs here provide a valuable service of early warning and guarding. Sadie will learn her home easy enough and hopefully figure out to let us know when people who shouldn't be about are." Kavala said, nodding.

"Alright, take the rest of the day to relax. You can start work tomorrow. Thanks for joining us, Riki. I think it will be good for everyone to have you here."
And with that, the pair was all set and settled. They knew where to stay, what their salary was, and what duties they were assigned. Riki would be a healers assistant who also did chores along with everyone else. He'd dry herbs, work on Philtering, and help resupply the healing facility with medicines along with treating patients that came through the gates.

OOCAll done and wrapped up, thank you.
And just as a note - Xypher is a windrunner, not a frostmarch (:

Lakra couldn't help but let the amazement show upon her delicate features as Kavala showed her round the Sanctuary. She honestly could not fathom how this one Konti had managed to build such a wonderful place on her own. She imagined that there was some help of course, though she did not know when it had been built, so anything was possible.

She nodded as Kavala spoke of her breeding porgramme - something that sparked great interest within the Konti - and she smiled when a Kelvic was mentioned. Lakara was keen to meet as many people as she could. She had only ever had proper contact with one Kelvic before, a panther, and she found the race quite fascinating.
"I'll be more than happy to let people breed with Xypher. And I would very much like to meet Vahn too."

She took her chores list - two breakfasts, a lunch and a dinner a week included - and then thanked Kavala for her wonderful hospitality. She headed back to the room she was to sleep in to start unpacking the few essentials she had bought with her, all the way from Mura.
