Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

57 of Fall 511 AV

True to the directions Sabe had recieved at the harbor the Sanctuary rose in front of the Konti as she left Riverfall behind her and walked over fresh grass towards the compound. Eira, her Imperial Watcher, took advantage of the open space to run around freely taking a few leaps and rolls, the closed space on the trading ships and the travel through the city had Eira burtsing with closed up energy. Sabe smiled at her dog but couldn't quite laugh, now that she was in Riverfall her nervosity had grown, the Konti wasn't shy in any way but asking for a job and be in an entirely new place did make her uncertain.

Coming close to the large buildings Eira trotted up to Sabe, stopping to shake some grass from her short fur, and kept to the Konti's side, keeping close to her mistress to be on alert for people nearing Sabe. The Sanctuary was an inviting, well kept building and when Sabe opened the door they reached a room that could be acting as a waiting room. It was a nice room, not richly designed but in Sabe's eyes this was better and more inviting. Looking around the empty room she wondered if she should just wait here or call for someone. "Hello! I'm seeking employment." Sabe called out, scratching Eira's ear while waiting for an answer.

Raiha & Rath

Kavala shook her head. "No more, Raiha. We need the help now. I've heard more than enough. We need you Kadrath and your brother as well. It's very nice to finally meet an Akalak that is up front with their other halves as well. I start out my healers with Rak'keli marks at 7 gold mizas a day. If your unmarked I start you out at 6 gold mizas. Trainers get 6 as well. I have a small room in the kennels you can move into if you'd like to bed down here. If you have a place in town, that's even better. The kennels upstairs has a small apartment or there's one downstairs by the dogs themselves. There's also room for big cats too if they are the type that will mix well will the dogs. We let our dogs roam daily, but they all go in at night either in the clinic, living quarters, or the kennels themselves. We can go take a look at them if you'd like.. and you can pick your spot. I'm wanting to hire one more groom/handler for the dogs and horses so whichever place you take will leave one more open space for another person. The room upstairs is quieter, but the one downstairs is far larger and more open." Kavala said, turning the group to head them towards the kennels to have a look.

"There's enough space here to start your own breeding operation if you have that in mind. We deliberately designed the kennel to be able to add onto it... and we want to build down as well when some of the mages in town get some free time to make us some room in the bedrock cliff."
Kavala said, glancing at Raiha and smiling. It would be good for her to have another Akalak around that had more than one person peering out of his eyes. Raiha was alone in her duality currently at Sanctuary and Kavala didn't like it. The girl needed someone she could talk too, confide in, someone she could relate too. And that Kadrath was a man was even better. Kavala had a feeling either Kani or Raiha had issues when it came to her father, so this would help.

Coming in light clothes if she needed to shift, she had heard this would probably be an ideal place to seek employment with the Kelvic's ability to shift. Septimus had been counting her money and decided that she was low on mizas and seriously needed to put forth her work ethic even more. The Sanctuary was a beautiful place, and she had heard it contained all animals, including her equine brethren.

Perhaps Septimus could find some work helping out with riding or something along those lines, possibly even guarding. She didn't know what to expect for she had never been in a place like this. Her Syliran accent was heavy as she called out "Hello there? I'm here to possibly find some work. I'm Septimus, a Tiaden War Horse Kelvic and Squire for the Syliran Knighthood here for the battle but before that date arrives, I have come to the discovery that I am running a bit low on mizas and would love to work for some employment."

[Riverfall Location] The Sanctuary

Postby Leo Varniak on November 11th, 2012, 3:39 pm

4th day of Fall, 512 - Late afternoon

It may sound surprising, but once Leo Zaital ran a mental accounting of his priorities, acquiring a horse came up on top. More important than securing lodging, more important even than securing food. He'd very rarely mounted one before; he'd never had a pet or animal companion before unless you counted the whimsical cat-like Naryn creature Ionu had granted him as a gift back in Syliras. Leo wondered where the beast was now. He could only hope Sondra was still around to feed it. But returning to the topic of horses, a combination of his limited coinage and a reluctance to care for another life form had kept him from owning one.

Now, however, there had been a change of priorities in Riverfall. Leo's basic plan in the city consisted of - paraphrasing a little - walking up to the Council of Elders and presenting his case in these terms. 'Hello old chaps, I'm the champion of Ivak! Yes, that very same Ivak fellow who all but annihilated your race in the Valterrian. Remember that huge Djed storm that knocked the world down the day before yesterday? You guessed it, that was me freeing Ivak and creating a nightmarish goddess of fear in the process. I'm also the guy who shot a firebolt at your patron goddess, but let's not go there. So, I was wondering if we could start over and turn a new page as Sylir and I prepare to do battle with the most grossly overpowered gods in the pantheon for the future of civilization. You can send your contributions to this address. May I ask for your blessing in establishing Ivak's Azenth in Riverfall while I'm at it?'

If you looked at it from this perspective, securing the ability to leave the city on horseback in a considerable hurry and without looking back was indeed quite a priority. Leo had made up his mind on this; he was done hiding and Ivak himself couldn't have dissuaded him. Ivak did as he wanted; and, very fittingly, so did his champion. Leo's point of view had become clear as he navigated Kalea feeding on scraps and lichen. As long as Ivak remained a despised god, as long as his followers were marginalized and denied recognition, Rhysol would have an easy time crushing them like insects. Ivak was a crucial piece of the jigsaw puzzle. Sylir may have been the centerpiece, the one with someone's face painted on it, but Ivak was the corner - the cardinal piece that got you started on the effort of making order from chaos.

It was a monumental task of public relations. There would be a lot of owning up to do. There would be a lot of pride to swallow, scathing judgment to take, opinions to sway, hate to be felt on the skin and danger aplenty. Leo did not mind. He had spent his life making the same scathing judgments on others, and knew how these things worked. If he could just get the whole of Mizahar on the same side, it was all worth it. But for now, things were starting with an inquiry for a horse and perhaps riding lessons. He'd heard that the kind people at the Sanctuary were mostly outsiders, which was a good thing. Leo knew nothing of the Akalak, and perhaps these people could offer pointers on how the warriors should be best approached.

He himself was so unaccustomed to the presence of people that he paid no heed to his appearance. His travels through Kalea had taken a toll on him, and while he remained energetic enough because of the fire running in his veins, there were lines and hollows on his face that hadn't been there before. He looked older than his 25 years now, the burden of his hardships and responsibilities weighing down on him. His grey shirt had been patched up in a way reminding of a feeble attempt at bringing back the dead. His left boot was split open at the tip. He carried a discolored bag across his shoulder. Another man in his state may have been mistaken for a beggar; yet the aura coming off his unassuming body told a different story. Contradictory feelings seemed to emanate from him - confidence, stability, restless power, and something else that was uncanny and unspeakable.

He was taken aback by the sheer size and development of the Sanctuary. It reminded him more of a separate citadel than just another breeding ground for horses. It probably had to be in order to thrive outside the protection granted by city walls. The sun was only a couple bells away from setting when he arrived, but Leo was not afraid of walking back to Riverfall in the dark or even spending the night outside. Fear had been taken from him, like so many other things.

Leo made his way through the gate, looking for a reception or some helpful soul to guide him there. The orderly feeling of the structure would not have been out of place in Syliras, which he found impressive, especially in sharp contrast to the boisterous lifestyle of the Inarta. Clearly some parts of the world were not as uncivilized as many Sylirans liked to think.

Fall 85th, 512AV

Not only had Septimus fully recovered by now, but she was feeling better. Her bruises were still apparent from the battle but none of that mattered now. It was all over. Her muscles no longer ached and they had now patched themselves up as well, now stronger. Septimus felt rejuvenated and refreshed and what better way to make some mizas rather than hit the 'work' again. Septimus hadn't forgotten about the Sanctuary, no way possible. Especially after the words they had exchanged. Septimus was looking forward to being able to frolic in the fields with other horses. Just go out there and be herself. But of course stay on high alert for predators. She wouldn't let her guard down out there either and after the battle that was already showing. However, a plus side to it, a new curtain of confidence was now spread across her face.

She walked into the familiar Sanctuary once again admiring the design and beautiful interface of the architecture. Her eyes scanned the place for the familiar and beautiful Kavala. From that first meeting, Kavala had given Septimus the impression that she was not someone to harm her. As a matter of fact, Septimus had been using some of that concoction she had given her to help her muscles the second day though of course the third wasn't too bad and she could tough it out. She still had reserved the small bottle back at camp.

Septimus' large body frame moved slightly as she shifted her weight. Her gaze was lifted up to the scenery, as she examined the firing colors around her. It was truly beautiful and it was a shame that in a few days it would all be fading away. The cloudy blue sky overhead even added another reason to be out and about. It was peaceful and relaxing, a wonderful place to get away "Kavala? I'm back." She called out with a growing smile.

4th of Summer, 513AV

Nailah was tired but thankfully so was her horse, the creature had seen fit to stop wanting to move about endlessly. She tucked a damp lock behind her ear, to stare at the structure. It was very different from those inside the city but just as close to the sea if not closer.

I wonder if they would purchase it.

She looked to her horse, it didn't seem to dislike her and it had been a very well-behaved thing, her arrival notwithstanding. Maybe she would just let it rest here, she would need another if she left the city again and there was no reason to buy a new one for each venture.

I'll be keeping this one.

She patted the beast in affirmation, and gave it a small smile before finally tugging gently to try and pull the horse farther into the Sanctuary.
"Just a...bit farther then you will get...rest."

It took her a few chimes of struggle to get the tired thing and her own legs into the reception area. Hopefully they would have better luck getting it to understand. Looking around the area, she tucked her hair out of her eyes again, and glanced around silently, waiting for someone to notice her but not actually making eye contact with anything or one in the room.

[Riverfall Location] The Sanctuary

Postby Zakar on June 13th, 2013, 11:23 am

5th of Summer, 513 AV.

Taheyatt was growing exhausted on the journey to the Sanctuary. The mare had already traveled so far with little rest, and it was starting to take a heavy toll. Though Zakar too would do anything for a bed to lay in, he dismounted the horse halfway through the voyage and went the rest of the way by foot, leading Taheyatt by her reins.

Finally, he reached the Sanctuary's gates, barely looking around when he walked in. He was disappointed to see no one was there, but dared not venture further. He removed the part of turban that covered his face, and coughed loudly. Finally, he called out, "Hello? My horse needs care, and a place to stay..." He was hoping that this was a good place for Taheyatt to stay, where she would be properly cared for. He owed the mare everything, for getting him to Riverfall without dying. She was strong, but now she needed rest.
