DESCRIPTION: Mura is the pearlescent Pearl of Konti Isle and center of activity for the Konti, but in fact the island consists of more than a city and a lake. Stretching out to its north and embracing Silver Lake from all directions is the Silverwood, a large collection of coniferous trees. Because Konti Isle is so small, there is not much place for a change of scenery, and so the Silverwood dominates nearly every part of the island landscape outside Mura. Its outskirts even reach into the city itself, planting trees and bushes between its buildings. These plants are of a wide variety of species. Some of them are extremely rare outside Konti Isle, and some thrive on Vision Water and cannot be exported at any cost. The forest mostly consists of coniferous trees with wide spaces and clearings between them, although the occasional area of broadleaf and, of course, white trees exists around Mura. Its specialty is the color of the trees that changes with the flare of the Silver Watchtower. During Spring and Summer they are green and turn red, yellow and brown in Fall, just like they would on the mainland, but as soon as the Watchstone announces the beginning of Winter, their needles pale to silvery white and light blue hues. Some suspect this is because of Vision Water in the ground, although most simply see it as another sign of Avalis’ love for Her daughters. All kinds of wild animals inhabit the forest, ranging from foxes and badgers to small wild cats and falcons. Most animals, however, are not dangerous to sentient races unless provoked. This is due to the respect the Konti have shown them for centuries – they are being left alone, so they leave others alone. The lucky might even see the occasional Calivari freezing in mid-motion as it notices their steps. For the Konti, the Silverwood is a place to relax and find inner peace. They accept the gifts Caiyha blesses them with, but try not to disturb the natural balance that has formed between the forest and its inhabitants. They often come there to meditate or practice Divination in solitude. Some say the wilderness aids their concentration. . |
