Contracting a New Acquaintance (Andresciel)

"Those are the basics, but if you truly wish to pursue obtaining a familiar there is a bit more you should know," Matt responded to Andresciel's explanation, "A familiar is more than just a friend. The ritual binds the familiar's life to your own. They need your Djed to survive away from their world, and so it goes beyond just friendship. Some even say it's a more intimate relationship than you can even have with a lover," the older Knight gave a soft chuckle. Taking some time to eat his own food Matt fell silent, but, in a demonstration of the deep bond, Slekrisan continued the explanation in his bright and cheery voice, "Even with a connection like that a familiar is still their own creature. They have their own mind, thoughts, and feelings, and it can take a lot of work to develop a good relationship with them. If you don't develop a good relationship it can be very dangerous. Some familiars rebel against their mages, or try to bully and enslave them so they can be in charge." "Obviously," Matt picked up where Slekrisan finished off, the liquid familiar taking to the air and drifting above Andresciel's hand, "Familiary is like all other forms of magic, and something to not be undertaken lightly. If you are truly interested in obtaining one I could assist you. We'd have to go outside of the city to do so, obviously, but a little fresh air would be nice for both of us."

Andresciel listened to the words, nodding, understanding the bond with a bit of thinking. It was a union forever, and the Familiar fed off the Djed energies of his mage.

When Slekrisan started speaking, his eyes went to the little friend he had made and nods "Hopefully, you will help me find one that would not enslave me." He smiles, tickling the little ball of water, or at least attempting to.

With that, and the words of Matt, who Andre had come to enjoy being around, Andresciel nods, his voice determined "I wish to undertake it, Matt. I would love to have a companion of my own, a friend to ease my loneliness, and stop the pain of my past. If you would help me, I would be grateful." His eyes then went to Slekrisan "To both of you, of course, my little friend."

"Well," Matt said with a smile, pausing a moment to finish his ale in one drink, "If you're truly interested we had better head out. Don't want to be outside the walls too late." Placing his mug back on the table Matt held out a hand for Slekrisan, the small ball drifting over and changing into a wine flask again. Taking a grip on his familiar Matt led the way out of the Rearing Stallion, again with a brisk pace, and started to make his way towards the Main Gates themselves, "Keep up Andre! You don't want an old Knight like me showing you up, do you?" Matt gave a chuckle as he continued along. Nodding politely to the guards at the gate Matt continued straight out of the city and then past the main road as it curved east to meet with the Kabrin road. His brisk pace continued until they were a good ways off from the road, and finally, as Andresciel began to hear the sound of the ocean faintly, Matt stopped and found a place in the grass to sit down. "Go ahead and sit for a bit Andre," the older Knight patted the ground next to him a Slekrisan returned to his liquid ball form, but this time the familiar was large enough around that a crouched man could easily fit within, "Slekrisan will take a little time to work." True to Matt's words Slekrisan began rolling around the grass in front of the two, tracing curving lines and arcane symbols into the earth.

Andresciel had little problem keeping up with the elder knight, and in fact, enjoyed the walk. He watched the road, keeping his eyes on the surroundings as he was known to do, and when he heard the ocean, he stopped.

For a few minutes, he simply stood there, eyes closed, listening to the world around him, the sound of the lapping waves, the breeze. In a few seconds, Andresciel's eyes opened with a slight spark as he sat next to Matt, calling a sphere of wind in his hand which he began to toy with.

"What is he doing, Master?" Andresciel asked, referring to the elder Knight as his teacher.

Matt burst into loud and raucous laughter at Andresciel's title for him, shaking his head as he bent forward with the force of his mirth, "I told you there was no need to be so prim and proper Andre. Just call me Matt, especially since I'm hardly a Master, much less yours." When Matt had finally calmed down he gave a heavy and amused sigh and one last shake of his head before he responded, "He's making a summoning circle to Fyrden, the world where familiars are from. Then he'll go over and find a few potential familiars for you, and then come back so you can talk to them and pick one." Not long after Matt finished his explanation a flash of light pulsed from the circle Slekrisan had made accompanied by a sound similar to a massive amount of water crashing down on the ground. A strange oily smell filled the air, and then Slekrisan vanished into what appeared to be a swirling vortex of water that had appeared in the center of the circle. Matt stood up and dusted himself off slowly, motioning for Andresciel to do the same, "It shouldn't take him long to find a few. The Fyrdens are always eager to volunteer to come over." The two men only waited a couple chimes before the liquid orb of Slekrisan appeared from the portal once more, and this time was followed by three much smaller forms. First there was a jagged rock that looked roughly similar in shape and size as a potato. Next was a liquid sphere much like Slekrisan in appearance, but very small like he had been back in the Rearing Stallion. Finally there was a grayish cloud that looked somewhere between steam and smoke, not much bigger than the other too. "Andre, allow me to first introduce you to Erkrindel," Slekrisan said cheerily, and the rough stony figure changed shape and color until it resembled a small person, looking like a tiny bald Andresciel. "Hello Andresciel, I am pleased to meet you," the voice that the tiny man spoke with was smooth and elegant sounding, and he smiled up at Andresciel, "I would be honored to be picked as your Familiar. Slekrisan told me many good things about you."

He nods to Matt's words, turning to the stony figure and smiling as he pushed up, bowing, his hand coming out to sweep the air in an elegant bow to the Familiar.

"Greetings, honored Erkrindel. I would be honored if thy would bond to me." His hand came out, offered to the smooth sounding man. Andre's eyes were bright with hope and flames of strength.

Andresciel could already feel the bond to the stone familiar, but he still looked to the others, "And who are your other friends, Friend Slekrisan." He smiles, offering his palm to the water sphere "Come and rest while you introduce us."

"You have but to ask," Erkrindel replied to Andresciel with a smile, possibly a smirk, it was hard to tell on such a small face. "Don't worry Andre," Slekrisan said cheerily as he swirled on the grass, "I like resting on the grass like this. Next is Sleneera, my spawn-sibling." The small ball of liquid resembling Slekrisan drifted forward, and took up a position on Andresciel's outstretched hand, "Nice to meetcha Andre!" Sleneera's voice was, if possible, brighter and more chipper that Slekrisan, "I'd love to be with you, get to see Slekrisan again, and have lots of fun!" "Finally," Slekrisan chimed in, "there is Velenor," the grayish cloud drifted around slightly, but stayed mostly in the same place, "Velenor!" "Oh, right," Velenor's voice was as light and airy as his form as it meandered it's way towards Andresciel, "Andre, right? It would be nice if you'd pick me, but no hard feelings if you pick someone else. There's always next time." "Now that you've been introduced," Matthew stepped up and patted Andresciel on the shoulder, "It's time to get to know them and pick who you'd like. Remember to take your time, and be sure of your choice. It's for life, after all."

He nods to Matts words. For life, a long time to be bonded to someone. He glanced at Sleneera, then Velenor "You seem kinda airy, my friend." He chuckles, reaching out to allow a bit of wind to brush over Velenor, using the Reimancy he knew. He then glanced at the water in his palm.

"You seem like the fun type." He then looked at the stone familiar "and the sturdy type." He shook his head "So hard to pick from you all."

"You're a Knight, right Andre?" Erkrindel chimed in from his position on the grass, the small replica of a bald Andresciel striking a noble and heroic looking pose, "A great warrior that fights to protect others? Why not go with the one that can best help you fight? As we grow stronger I'll be able to become larger and stronger, and I could take any form you needed for help. A great beast to tear your enemies apart, or a sturdy wall to protect you against blows. Much more useful than getting someone wet or making it a little hard to see." "I'd have fun with Andre! We could tell jokes and stuff!" Sleneera replied, almost sounding like a petulant child. Velenor gave a laugh like one being tickled as Andresciel's wind moved over him, shifting his smoky form about, "I could... well... I can help watch over you Ander... or something."

He glances at Erkindel "I am a Mage Knight, good Familiar. My task is more knowledge then combat, I believe." He chuckles, enjoying the little guys bravery.

He glanced at the others, his thoughts taking him away to that hidden place in his mind. Erkindel is right. Water and Air do little if I should need defense. Earth is stronger. Maybe I should pick him. But I am bonded to Air as it is..

With that, he decided to look to the three together "Perhaps you would each show me an example of your skills? A Demonstration?" He smiles, as he bowed to them before sitting down. It was hard to pick between such great familiars, any of them would make a good friend.
