[Before Cade had appeared and began cutting down the Guardsmen as they recovered Eryss, still resting himself after expending an assortment of his power, was beginning to focus on the men as they recuperated from his attack. His eyes were glowing with a malevolent light as the djed he had channelled throughout his body in the initial attack continued to burn itself off slowly. Eryss wanted to be careful as mastery of the elements was no simple thing and one wrong move could leave him badly debilitated, even disfigured, if the res he transformed djed into turned back onto him. While Cade attacked the Guardsmen Eryss was happy to watch, taking his time, before acting again.]
[Besides the indescribable carnage wrought by the wagon having been destroyed due the explosion blast erupting underneath it there was the immediate sense of terror, true horror even, that had descend over the area. Eryss was watching as Cade cut through the first Guardsman before he was back on his feet, it had actually been the same man that had been approaching him when all this began, he saw his blood explode free of the fleshy torso that contained it all, heard the cracking of bone beneath the steel of a sword and it made him smile. Were this not a battle Eryss may have approached the dying man, knelt over him, and if he had any life left in him at all asked what it felt like to be numb and to know life was slipping away. Nothingness all that would await the dead Guardsman Eryss would have assured him.]
[When Cade was attacked by the other Guardsman Eryss had time to go about his own business though, the battle was clearly in Cades favour, and while his associate was in the midst of combat Eryss wandered closer to the remains of the cart. The Merchants Wagon hadn’t been completely destroyed but the blast firing up underneath it had blown a hole through its center, sending wood and goods scattering as debris, and thrown it onto its side where it remained now. The Merchant himself was thrown off the wagon and was laying prone on the ground, face down in a pile of grass, and Eryss, seeing him, approached the body of the merchant.]
[Behind him, in the near distance, Cade was finishing off the second Guardsmen as Eryss moved ahead.]
[Nearing the body of the Merchant Eryss, wanting to see the look of despair in the mans eyes, reached out to take his shoulder and pull him around. It wasn’t meant to be though. As the Merchant was pulled around his arm flung high and Eryss caught a face full of dirt that caused him to stumble backwards. Cursing as he went Eryss clawed his lengthy fingers across his eyes to clear them just in time to see the Merchant, a man of average years with a potbelly but not incredibly overweight, throwing a punch at him. Dodging, Eryss who knew better then to stand still but wasn’t exceptionally apt in a brawl tried to get out of the way but still ended up getting clipped in the side of the mouth. The blow threw him onto his back and he muttered.]
[Landing on his back with an aching jaw Eryss didn’t have much time before the Merchant was ontop of him, his hands taking Eryss around the throat, and lifting his hands he tried to push his assailant off to no avail. Eryss wasn’t a weakling but he wasn’t exceptionally apt at any physical labours either which was why placing his hands on the Merchants face and pushing backwards did little to help him.]
“Caaaaadddddeeeeee. Gr...Grreee....!@^!!*&^”
[Or so it went as Eryss tried to call for help from Cade while he was facing the youth only to have his voice cut short by the hands wrapped around his neck.]
[It was while he pushed his hands against the Merchants face, drawing one of them back to scratch and claw at him a bit, that Eryss began to exude the res from himself. Creating a small amount via the djed he harnessed until it covered his palm like a film. Shaping that res Eryss let it flow around his fingers until it covered his hand entirely as though he had just dunked it in water and removed it, soaking, from being immersed.]
[Igniting the res then Eryss transformed his palm into a blazing wreath of flame that he swung back and pressed against the Merchants face again. Listening as an agonizing howl spewed from the Merchant’s mouth Eryss used his hands to try and hold the man over him now instead of pushing him away. Burning the Merchants face Eryss held him as long as possible letting his flesh blister beneath his touch before the man was finally able to pull away.]
[Screaming the Merchant leapt from Eryss clutching his face started to run before collapsing onto the ground, hands still over his face where the fire had burnt away at his flesh, blistering it and leaving him debilitated. Eryss did not escape completely unscathed either though, igniting the res across his hand had caused it to turn back on him somewhat, and rolling onto his stomach Eryss buried his hand into the dirt and grass to keep himself from being burnt by his own fires to badly. Extinguishing the flames before he suffered overly.]
[By the time Eryss had looked up, crawling onto his knees at the same time, his eyes had begun to darken again this time with anger as much as a malicious hate. Feeding off the angst he experienced at the moment Eryss allowed the desire to destroy begin to overwhelm him, slowly like a poison eating away at him from the inside, and pushing to his knees he called out...
“Insolent worm! I’ll burn the eyes out of your head!”
...it was more than just a mere threat from Eryss who was now climbing back onto his feet, his tattered attire hanging off of him, and closing his fist into a ball he was to become a baleful force to be reckoned with that knew no limits nor morality.]
