Tychonius Nioni Basic Information Race: Human Birthday & Age: 48th of Spring, 488 AV. Gender: Male Physical Description Tychonius is an intelligent looking man of average height. His build is strong, wide, sturdy, rocklike. Contrary to this natural resemblence, Tychonius glides when he walks, shoulders bending back and forth gracefully. He wears, daily, a tan shirt with billowing sleeves (He washes this often and keeps with him several spares) and breeches of bleached fabric which fit loosely to his legs and are light enough to be seen through, sometimes outlining Tychonius' legs. Over that, he wears a black jerkin. On his feet he wears a pair of sturdy, reliable leather sandals. Tychonius' face is strong and smart, strangely both noble and off-beat. His smile, which is quick and seldom not genuine, is goofy and warm, and his hair is simply combed back out of his face. Character Concept Tychonius, conceptually, is a learned bard who has a drinking problem (brought on by his unresolved issues concerning the disappearance of his mother). Coming from Zeltiva, Tychonius is fond of Kelp Beer and will do his best to get his hands on that if he can find it. He is also immensely interested in the dreamscape. Tychonius left Zeltiva suddenly and on a whim, just two months from the end of the school year, and decided to head to Ravok for a more exciting life. He sees himself as an enlightened adventurer; a sort of errant knight enforcing his own morals, eternally finding himself, forever fighting for whatever force he deems best. Character History Tychonius was born as an accident. His father was a sailor, who, upon hearing of Tychonius' mother's pregnancy, sailed out to sea one night and never came back to Zeltiva. Meanwhile, Tychonius' mother, a sort of philosopher and professor at the university, taught young Tychonius at home, covering areas in music, philosophy, poetry, and public speaking. He met an important father-figure at age 13 named Kolit. A former sailor who had lost his arm in a skirmish, Kolit began teaching the young Tychonius. Tychonius' mother, meanwhile, fell in love with the one-armed man. He taught Tychonius the art of swordsmanship, particularly the scimitar wielded by many sailors. While his mother did encourag the education in blade-work, she also discouraged removing Tychonius' education from its primary place in his list of priorities. At 19, Tychonius' mother suddenly died. Around the same time, Kolit disappeared from Zeltiva, presumed drowned after failing to return from a fishing trip. Having graduated from the college, he now taught there, teaching pre-cataclysm poetry and other literary pursuits. After turning 23, Tychonius entered into a sexual relationship with a student who turned out to be a member of a very powerful family. This family did not take to the erotic nature of the relationship well. Less than a year later, Tychonius was ambushed in a bar while rather drunk on kelp beer, and was severely beaten. At this point, Tychonius sold his house, bought a horse, and left Zeltiva, heading in the vague direction of Ravok. Upon arriving in Ravok, he made for himself a home as a hired bard at parties; he sang, played music, and told stories of the Valterrian and of Zeltivan pirates and Sailor-Heroes.
