Timestamp: 19th of Summer, 511 A.V. She had never learned to swim, so naturally getting around the library was a bit of a problem for Clarity. Unlike the head librarian who despite her age had an innate grace about her as she swam around placing books in their proper place, Clarity was stuck flopping around uselessly. Getting bored with the task of trying to swim she looked down at the gills on her right side. Slowly she slid her finger over it laughing at the sensation until she realized, opposing to her fun she could not breathe with her hand covering the only means of air. After a bout of coughing Morcer peered around the side of a shelf, a stern look on her face as if to say, “My Gods girl are you really that brainless?” Flushing lightly Clarity gave a little wave, curling her fingers slightly. The scowling librarian swam away, clutching a few books to her chest. Clarity pursed her lips together. “Well she’s no fun,” She thought to herself. She focused once more on trying to swim. This was the safest place to do so after all. There was no risk of drowning…well usually, and there was plenty of room to work. Gripping onto the bookcase next to her she thought about how she should go about this. Then on a whim, she pushed off the wood and began to flap her arms around at her sides. To a bystander it would look as if the girl was trying to fly with the way she was moving. Growing tired quickly Clarity let out a sigh, which came out in bubbles from her gills. She didn’t even bother to pop them. “Maybe I could hypnotize the librarian into teaching me.” It was a blank thought, one that she wasn’t really thinking about putting to action. She had heard that the librarian had at least one mark from Ionu, possibly more and was someone to be respected. “Fat chance.” Clarity thought with a smirk. Now what could possibly get on her nerves? It took several chimes of heavy contemplation to formulate a plan but still she smirked and wriggled her way over to the bookcase. Plucking a book off the shelf she turned it upside down and drifted lazily from the wood once more. She got into position and waited. When the librarian swam past Clarity who was reading the book, upside down. She was quite serious looking, eyes scanning the page, lips moving with the words, she very much looked like she was reading, but in all honesty she was just mouthing random words. Morcer granted the girl an odd look and shook her head. A smile twitched on Clarity’s lips as the older woman swam past. Almost twenty chimes later the librarian swam down the aisle only to find that Clarity was upside down while the book remained right side up. A shrewd look was laced on the librarians face this time, but still she said nothing. Taking a book off the shelf the woman left once more. Smiling coyly Clarity let out a soft giggle. This was going to be fun. |
