Wooden Wonders Workshop
The Kinnan family workshop is a slightly run down, tumbling building that overlooks the Suvan's gentle waters. It's still a work in progress by the Kinnan family, with items and features being added all the time. As one approaches the shop, most often one might see Cadog and Ferny working outside on a boat in their modest dry dock, popping back and fourth into the workshop to fetch instruments and wood. On rainy days, a blanket of oiled canvas is thrown over any work that can't be moved inside, and the Kinnan's move into the workshop, which is filled with the aroma of wood, varnish and paint. The walls are lined with various tools and instruments, and there are work tables scattered around with various wooden items strewn over any unused surfaces.
The shop doubles as the Kinnan's home with the entire second story dedicated to housing the laid back woodworkers. As business is conducted on the ground floor, most times the Kinnan's spend the day in the workshop with the house proper as more of a bedroom than anything else. A sign is tacked to the front door, slightly frayed on the edges, inviting those who seek assistance to simply knock or shout.
Services and Merchandise Wooden Toys These are small, wooden items which Cadog carves in his spare time, having always had a soft spot for them. They usually are made out of cheap wood, or off-cuts, and are sometimes jointed so that they move. In keeping with Alvad culture, many of Cadog's toys move in mysterious ways, or use ingenious little tricks and sleights of the eye to fool and amaze the owner.
Figureheads Cadog's main source of income, crafted on commission, is in the form of intricate figureheads that he carves. From dancing women, splashing dolphins, typhoons, stars, waves to much more, these figureheads are carved from more expensive bits of wood, and he often sells them to Svefrans or merchants looking to decorate their ship (sometimes even the polite pirate).

Shipwriting Cadog doesn't have a large workforce, as it's mostly himself and his son and whatever hired help they occasionally get. So, in a season, Cadog usually only builds about one boat, if that. However, the vessel is much loved, and lovingly hand-crafted. Cadog caters to all, and always tries to build the boat to the specifications given, and he always gifts the buyer a special, hand-crafted figurehead as his trademark.
Rowboat | 150 GM | A small, simple rowboat, found almost anywhere there are people and water. These boats are propelled by a single set of oars. Crew: 1, Passengers: 3 | Half a season (45 days) | Casinor | 620 GM | A small, personal ship no longer than 30 feet with a single cabin. More than twice the size of the average rowboat, this ship is capable of traversing inland seas and coastal areas though it is unequipped to travel on the open ocean. The most common personal ship found among the Svefra. These ships are often found employing heavy harpoons for defense. Much of the free space on the ship has been converted into living quarters thus cargo is limited to 500 lbs. While it may carry a number of passengers, these boats are designed for a single person spending extended periods at sea. Crew: 1, Passengers: 5 | Two seasons (180 days) | Catamaran | 1210 GM | A small, multihulled vessel consisting of two parallel hulls of equal size connected by a frame. These small, personal ships are roughly 30 feet in length. Though similar in overall size to the Svefra Casinor, the Catamaran is not designed for extended periods at sea (though it may be modified for such). They contain room enough for simple living quarters as well as light cargo and some simple comfort. The Catamaran is found in use by all manner of sailor for its flexibility of use and ease of customizing to fit individual needs. Crew: 1-2, Passengers: 3-5 | Two and a half seasons (220 days) |

He's always busy, making a new toy for his relatives, or getting that particular bit of the stern fixed with a new carving. He is a man with a loving, doting family and the years have been good to him, he looks young for his age. Along with his family and extended family, Cadog lives in the Patchwork Port, overlooking the lapping waters of the Suvan. Cadog had always loved wooden items. From a very young age, he could remember his mother buying him little wooden toys, which he delighted in. With an analytical but also artistic mind, he would carefully take apart each toy, trying to work out how they were made. When he was just sixteen he went travelling to learn more about wood-work, and spent a great deal of time in Zeltiva learning how to be a shipwright and general woodworker. He returned to Alvadas years later, setting up his own business, falling in love, and building a family. Though his apprenticeship in Zeltiva had taught him much, he had found that Alvadas, even on the boarders of the Patchwork Port, was the true place for him and his trained talents. He now apprentices his son, Ferny, and will take on any able soul willing to learn. He can usually be seen bending over a wooden carving, chisel in hand, cropped brown hair slightly dusted with woodchips. If you were to look over at him, his smile would be quick to appear, and a waved greeting would accompany him as he calls out a cheerful greeting in his melodious, tenor voice. Ferny Kinnan

With his dark, curling hair and his broad shoulders, when he was a child he was always getting into scrapes. A playful but slightly moody individual, Ferny is always trying to better himself. Although originally unwilling to follow in his fathers footsteps, Fern was often needed in his father's workshop, and under Cadog's careful eye, quickly grew to love wood-working. Fern usually enjoys cutting up planks and sourcing supplies, crafting the raw ingredients for his father. He especially enjoys haggling with suppliers to gain the best rate, usually with a bit of banter and a lot of laughter and concentration in equal measure. He is a friendly presence, and often he helps to acclimatize any hired help to their work with levity of a more jocular sort. He is, however, impatient, which means that any sluggishness tends to be rewarded with either an ardent fit of shouting or a well thought out prank when one is least expecting it. Fern is quite impulsive, and can often be seen after work playfully brawling with his friends, or perhaps a bit of gambling at the nearby tavern.
