Morning Meetings (Anjalena Palla)

He pondered her question. He would be able to protect himself against almost anyone or anything he could think about encountering. So he didn’t believe he would need an Ivaski for protection. But he knew that the Ivaski were far more than that; they were wonderful companions. Deadly and loyal to the very end. Yes; he would want an Ivaski for the companionship. Maybe an Ivaski wouldn’t leave him alone. They would understand and listen to him where no one else seemed to want to. He smiled as he carefully crafted his response to her.

“Yes, I hear they are wonderfully loyal and protective of their Healer. I have watched these wonderfully intelligent animals at times. They are indeed more intelligent than even the healers give them credit for. I would love to have an Ivaski for the companionship.”

Lena gripped his wrist, beaming up at him. She was thankful she had asked for his help instead of venturing out on her own. Where would she be if he had not offered to be her guide? Probably lost, watching the lovely Konti women pass.

"Thank you, Serrif," She said at last. "This has been helpful to my study of Mura. It's exactly what I was looking for! I thank you for your patience and kind compliance. You're a truly compassionate man for donating your time to me today. I'm afraid I must be off now, though. I hope you won't mind that our meeting has been short-lived, but I am sure I will see you around here sometime soon!"

Her golden eyes searched his as she smiled up at him. She had to get going. This really had been what she was searching for for years! Her form, a place to belong, a home. Here it was, in Mura, hidden from her. She felt at home here with the blissful people that walked the Muran streets. They were pale and blonde as she, and these animals... The Ivaski. She was an Ivaski! Finally, she found home, and she would strive to be like the others.
