Devmond Passiflora-Incarnata
Race: Symenestra
Birthday: 1st Spring, AV 490
Gender: Male
"If I had to pick a theme song, well, here it is."
Physical Description
Standing at 6’4”, Devmond is always well-dressed. He favors elaborately layered outfits that are eye-catching, but also give protection to his vulnerable Symenestra body. Unlike the usual pallor of his race, Devmond has a flush of color on his face and arms, inherited from his surrogate Vantha mother. Streaked with purple coloring his hair is always styled to hide golden eyes alive with mischief. Below his lower lip is a pointed stud piercing. Lately, a lack of sleep shadows his eyes.
Character Concept
Devmond is quietly manipulative, either talking his way out or sidestepping any troublesome situation. He is only aggressive in his flirtations, and is often accompanied by at least one beautiful woman in public. Pinned as a 'player', Devmond furthers his reputation by humoring even the most absurd rumor.
Preferring intelligent conversation, nothing irks him more than those who are loud and obnoxious, or those that are ignorant and naive. Devmond will often go out of his way to humiliate those that he finds beneath him. A favorite technique is using abstract insults that only sink in as he walks away.
He is a believer in Viratas and uses the religion to justify belittling those not of the Symenestra bloodline. However, faith has waned lately due to his budding doubt of the supposed superiority of the Symenestra race. After some humbling from his own ignorance, he will occasionally show a thoughtful gesture, even to those not Symenestra, but only if they gain his respect. The softest spot in his heart is reserved for his daughter Sunay whom he showers with affection.
Character History
Devmond was born into a wealthy Symenestra family of Kalinor. Extremely loyal towards the dying Symenestra race, they often threaten their sons into finding surrogate mothers or are forced out from the web. Devmond was the second son of three boys, and took up being the spiritual head of the family. However, his eldest brother, Vileras, was murdered while performing a harvest thirteen years years ago. Devmond was eventually given the task of finding surrogates and leaving his younger brother, Avard, to attend to religious duties.
The relationship between the two younger brothers is often marked with bruises. Now with Avard as religious family head, his spiritual practices are often like many fringe worshipers with bloodbaths and sacrificial feasting. Devmond considers his methods crude, and has put even more distance between them because of it.
After a particular capture of a surrogate mother, Devmond’s perspective shifted. He seduced a blue-eyed Svefra nomad and brought her home to Kalinor. During her pregnancy, he became strangely attached to her. Telling stories of her home on the Suvan Sea, Devmond began to doubt whether the Symenestra way of life was truly superior. Like all surrogate mothers, she died after birthing a daughter. He named the child Sunay in tradition of both Symenestra and Svefra cultures. She is currently in the care of his father, Duratan, and his mother, Altha.
