Personality:

Passionate. Loving. Headstrong. All words describing the girl known as Marrow Moontide, but who can still answer to the name of Lyre. A girl gifted by Rak'keli at birth, Marrow demonstrated her worth for the Gnosis. She knows nothing of hate, nothing of anger, and nothing of pity. If she sees someone suffering, she will decide whether or not it can be saved, and if it can she will do all she can to help it survive. If it can not be saved, she will end its suffering and will send its body to Laviku's embrace. What she sees and knows she loves. Like all of her race, she doesn't believe in the concept of ownership. She is wild at best and destructive at worst, but through every passion she succumbs to, she rejoices with dance and laughs. She is incredibly lighthearted at times, and has no use for frowning. Her belief is that lips were made for three things: kissing, smiling, and speaking, and Laviku help her if she uses them for anything else.

Appearance:

Marrow possesses fiery hair and eyes the colour of ocean waters. One who gazes into her eyes is said to see a distant ocean and be consumed by her love of the waters. Dark tattoos adorn this Svefra's beautiful face, a mark from the Gnosis granted by Rak'keli at her birth. Her tanned skin is marked by the tattoo of her pod and henna designs in the fashion of the Eypharians. Her hair is decorated with beads and the feathers of her favorite bird: the osprey. She dresses lightly, even for her race, choosing to wrap her breasts in cloth like the Symenestra and doing the same for her lower abdomen, covering any nudity. Scarves usually drape over her shoulders and are tied along her waist. Multiple scarves are preferred, the more variously coloured the better. She doesn't wear shoes of any kind but will occasionally wrap cloth along her lower legs around her ankles, doing the same to her wrists. In terms of beads, she chooses Inarta-styled beads and hangs them from her hair, the bottom of her wrappings, and her ears. She is fond of being as creative as humanly possible. Additionally, Marrow has no care of money nor on what it is spent on, and she prefers to purchase perfectly good bolts of fabric to tear up into strips for her clothes. In winter, she may actually don a fur-lined cloak and a real skirt, but her top won't change. Her hair is always worn free and has not been cut in several years, so it descends to her waist.

History:

Born Winter 41st, 494 AV as Lyre Moontide, Marrow chose her own name when she went through her first menses and enforced this through pranks and intimidation. As a child she ran wild on the ship of the Lia of her pod. Even as a child she showed an expression of laughter at every opportunity. Smiles came easy to her and there was always a wonder with life. As she grew older, learning how to dance and use a cutlass came. She taught herself the use of medicine while the pod rested in Syliras. When she reached her first menses she was almost ready to fully Morph, and a week later she became a shark, but due to her fear of overgiving she remained a shark for two days. Her time as a shark taught her a new respect for life, and she met and bonded with a female shark whom she decided to name Rashel.

Her whole life to date has been rife with her wild love for everything. Like all Svefra, she feels at home on the Sea. She knows she will never leave this place. It is her world.

Rashel

Rashel is a juvenile tiger shark Marrow encountered one day while swimming the Suvan with her Tavan at the time: Hasi the bottle nose dolphin.

The incident, for that indeed was what it was, has marked Marrow's soul for life. She had argued with her eldest sister and took to the waters with Hasi, guiding her Tavan far from the boat she had lived on for her entire life. They were returning hours after the argument when the ominous triangular tin rose above the water. Both Hasi and Marrow knew what a shark was and what would happen to them. They held still, and the young creature circled them lazily, dark eyes holding no emotion as it gazed upon them and worked its jaws. With little warning, it brushed against Hasi's flank and the dolphin panicked, its fear being enough to drive the semi-peaceful monster into frenzy. Marrow had no choice but to kick away and watch as her own Tavan was ripped and made into a bloody mess in the warm waters.

Once done, that shark's fin emerged from the water again and made its way towards Marrow with the slowness of a beast that knows its prey can not flee and will die from panic long before its fangs meet flesh. At this point they looked directly at eachother, into eachother, and eyes the color of purest water were swept into eyes of the darkest night. The shark was everything Marrow refused to be. It was every unrestrained desire in one body, ruled by none and free to the sea. It looked upon her and saw what it lusted after most. It saw the frailties of humans and felt nothing, except for the slow joy of finding something lost in dark waters long ago. The shark and the Svefra stared at eachother, treading water and moving in slow circles, frozen in eachother's gaze.

Then the Healer reached out to the very beast that had so freely ripped her friend to pieces, this animal of every dark, consuming lust there was. The Healer and the Killer. Marrow and Rashel. They were bonded that day and they returned to the ship where Marrow was deemed even more abnormal than before. After all, what kind of person do you have to be to bond to a shark?
