The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

She looked very curious laying there like that, her eyes shifting in such a way, looking from the hares to him, as if such generosity was not a common occurrence. It was odd, he agreed, but odd was never always a bad thing, unless it was rolling around in corpses odd, then that’s when it went a little bit too far for his tastes. He never really got how those who consorted with the dead put up with being near such dreariness, and stink day after day, and while there was something to be admired in their strength, it was also a bit unsettling how comfortable somewhere with it. She had not pressed those bounds in the slightest though, merely playing in a sort with the kill like he had witnessed his fox do on occasion, and thus wasn't much surprised.

His eyes widened as she stood up, and from his angle he found it too hard to keep eye contact with her, without his peripheral vision seeing something he shouldn't, else risk violating the poor maidens honor, and he looked away quickly, watching out over the grass. " I can look way while you eat, it is of no inconvenience to me " he offered without looking too her, his eyes focused on an invisible spot among the grasses. " The simple joy of riding brings me out to these planes day after day. ” He sensed her walk past him, coming to a stop just behind him, and he wondered why she chose to be so close to him. Perhaps she saw prey out in the grasses behind him, or a predator, or more likely trying to eat one of the hairs where his prying eyes could not see. It did not occur to him that she could get the drop on him from this angle, or that she had any intentions towards him, malicious or otherwise.

Once I saw the golden grass fly

Postby Merenwen on August 4th, 2011, 11:14 pm

As Merenwen studied the top of Erzotol's head and shoulders she murmured from behind him, "I see..."

She had expected him to take his leave long before now, but here he was, sticking around. For who knows what, she thought. With narrowed eyes, she noted the hidden braids and charms in his hair. Curiosity gnawed at her, instigating her hand to reach out and gently and poke at a charm.

Merenwen had observed many things roaming about the Sea, including some of the habits of the Drykas people. They were all different, from what she had noted, apparently living in different colors and possessing no certain string of physical traits. They came pale, they came dark. They came blonde, they came brunette. This one was tanned from the kiss of the sun's rays, with darker hair, and lighter eyes. Her nose twitched as she breathed in the scent of horse hide floating from him, continuing to fiddle with his little charm.

"Tell me what this is, Erzotol, and what it is for." She demanded quietly.

Once I saw the golden grass fly

He felt an odd tingle as the silver metal of the charm tied up in his hair bumped against his neck, the metal oddly cooler than his skin, and sending a slight shiver through his body. Slowly he craned his neck around to stare into the face of the girl now standing behind him, and moving his head to the side curiously, he ran his hand through his hair to find one of the charms hidden within, hopefully the one she had been poking. The charm was in the shape of a birds head, a glass beak, and memories flooded back to him as he remembered how he had earned it.

" This one I had received when me and a group of family ran across a pack of glassbeaks and chased them off. It didn't quite work though and they came back the very same night. I was working guard and saw them coming, and grabbed a log out of the fire, and waved it in front of the beasts and chased them away. I even managed to kill one, and bring it back to the camp, so when we came back, my father took me to get a new charm minted, my first one, and my mother braided it into my hair. " he said, a smile spreading over his features at the fond memory. Till he thought of his loss, and a brief shadow crossed over his face, and he frowned. Those where times he sought to leave behind, and yet it still hurt keenly, as painful as it had on the day he had learned of his father’s downfall on the grass. Perhaps it always would as long as he traveled these lands. His eyes came back into focus on hers. At least it didn't hurt so badly when he was distracted.

Only briefly did Merenwen notice the shadow of the memory cross his face, a seemingly negative recollection after his initial smile. The expression smoothed over from one to the next, until his eyes met hers. She searched his face for any lingering sort of explanation for his reaction. In the back of her mind, she imagined the great bird beasts being beaten back away the Drykas. Her imagination conjured blurry images of a woman tending to Erzotol's hair, winding charms into his hair.

She lowered herself slowly, gracefully to her knees, behind him still, and touched another strand with a charm. Carefully she tapped it, and asked quietly, "What of this one?" Her face was closer to his now as she spoke with lowered voice, tracing the charm with a nail. At this moment, being so close to him, she could feel the heat radiating off his body, and found it difficult to take her eyes from his.

Once I saw the golden grass fly

A silver charm of a doe came next into his sight, and he studied it, glad she had picked another happy memory out of the charms he kept in his hair. He turned slightly in the dirt, rolling onto his knees, now facing her. " Ah, that one, I remember that one well. We were in the woods, my sister and I, on one of our first hunts alone, and we sighted this deer off in through the distance. Even though we were still green with the bow, we managed to bring it down, and it marked a proud time in our family " he said softly, his voice thick with remembrance.

It had been so long since he thought of any of the charms in his hair, and what they symbolized. Despite the bad memories, it was kind of pleasant to remember the good times with his family, and that things could be recalled from his past without soul crushing despair. His eyes flickered from the charm to hers, and he suddenly realized how close their faces where, how he could feel her breath, and likely she could feel his. Her eyes from this close where quite distracting, he couldn't help but continue to stare into them, and notice their color, even though he had been staring into them all day, this time it wasn't just to avoid glancing at her body. A smile came back to his face, and far gone was the memory of his father, for now at least.

Merenwen listening intently to his story, following true to her curious feline nature. The little charms were pretty little trinkets, crafted by the hands of a truly talented artist. The little charms glimmered in the light of the summer sun, but it was his eyes that held hers. The steely blue spheres caught her attention and held them as she reached his right ear at the little charm. She searched his face for a hint of expression as she spoke.

"That's an interesting story, as well..." Almost absentmindedly, her hand fell slowly to his shoulder. It slid from the crest of his shoulder down his collar bone, nails trailing lightly. She glanced down for only the swiftest of moments, before looking back up to him.

He smiled a soft and tender smile at her, not noticing at first when her hand trailed down his skin, prompting a shiver from his body. " I'm glad you favor it, life is full of experiences " he replied, his voice softer now, and briefly he looked down at her hand, before looking back at her nice eyes, and made no move to move her hand, instead lifting up his own hand and running it over the top of hers till it enfolded her hand against his chest.

Her proximity to himself was somewhat dizzying, but her hand felt soft under his and kept his body steady, but his heart pounded in his chest in a attempt to betray his weakness to her. He never quite seen her this up close before, and from this angle he could see only her face, which suit him well, and she had quite a beautiful quality about her with the way her hair felt, and her eyes shown in the light, and he found himself being more dragged into her touch, the moment threatening to overtake him. " Much tales I know, but much more boring are they I'm sure " he managed to force out, his eyes never leaving hers, and the side of his thumb caressing the top of her hand.

The brush of Erzotol's calloused thumb against the back of her hand left a trail of evaporating warmth each time it slid across her skin. She watched the soft movement from the corner of her eye as she shifted her weight from one knee to the other, inching closer to him. Her golden-green eyes fought to hold his as she felt the familiar thump of his heartbeat beneath his skin. Slitted pupils took in the rays of the sun, adjusting to the intensity. At such close proximity, most would have retreated from her features. She knew he could see her curious feline eyes, possibly even the elongated teeth characteristic to her lynx form.

"I find your stories most interesting, Erzotol Silverden. So very interesting..." Her voice whispered off into the air as her body pressed ever-lightly into his. Her heartbeat, too, quickened in anticipation.

Merenwen had always had a housed a curiosity of men and their habits, their antics. Her inner animalistic instincts drove her to pursue them, to want them, to be with them. At times it was daunting, yes, to feel slightly out of the ordinary as compared with her Kelvic cousins out in the world. She simply favored men. Perhaps one day she would be able to put it to good use instead of letting it drive her every move.

The proximity of her was steadily more intoxicating, her breath just a whisper against his face. Her eyes had a quality about them that would have been out of place on anyone but her, perhaps since it was combined with the tiny pearly white fangs he saw peeking out from her lips, but they didn't bother him only intensified the burning curiosity within him. Each breath started becoming deeper, and slower, as he slightly in the corner of his mind took notice that she was moving closer to him.

Her words where drowned out by the increasingly loud beat of his heart in his ears, and he slowly blinked before capturing her eyes again, and raising his right hand to gently brush her cheek with the back of his hand trailing it down her neck till he cupped the back of it. He wanted to speak once more, but words where not form, lost in the intangible void of her eyes, and slowly leaning forwards bringing her face closer to hers, his eyes flashing with impulse at being so close. His fingers rubbed her neck much in the same way as he had her hand, and then his lips brushed hers, as he fell into a kiss.

Once I saw the golden grass fly

Postby Merenwen on August 6th, 2011, 2:52 pm

The shockwave of anxiety buzzed through Merenwen's limbs, leaving her blissfully numb at his touch. She hadn't expected him to be the one to forward the advance, but she welcomed it nevertheless. The trace of his trailing fingers elicited a little shiver from her body, causing the hairs on the backs of her neck and arms to stand straight up. Chill bumps erupted in the wake of his presence. Gently pressed both of her hands to his chest, mindful of her long nails, as she leaned into him. The wave of desire flooded her as they kissed, and she fought to subdue the creature welling up inside.

Again, she shifted her weight, inching closer to him, as if there was actually any space left. At this point, the emotion that surfaced from her very core made her wonder who was seducing who. She felt a slight tremble in her knees.
