Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.
The Akeldama Colosseum, a name that brings to mind pictures of fame and glory, of grand shows of magnificent beasts and awesome displays of power. The tamers of the Colosseum show crowds the most exotic beasts miza can buy, while the hired swords show the spectators just how they like to fight. The Colosseum appears old, worn down, time ridden and one would think it has been long forgotten and abandoned by those of the city, but the roars of the crowd within protest otherwise.
The outside boasts a ring of stone that reaches to the sky, a small domain where the strong thrive and the ringmaster rules. The ring appears jagged, as if hastily crafted and there are some bricks missing, holes in the wall, that give testament to the age of not only the building but also the age of the shows that are held within. One entrance, barred with black iron gates, welcomes all those who dare approach the building. The ringmaster, Shale, waits at the entrance to take the fee to see his shows.
Once inside the costumer beholds the mountain of stone sloping downwards to a pit of red. The sand gaining that color from the multitude of fights held within. The seats are set one head above each other so each person has a fair chance to see. Seating is first come first serve, but Shale has been known to reserve the front row to those who are willing to pay a little extra miza. Those in the front row don’t only enjoy seeing the fight up close, but also have the benefit, to those who are lucky enough, to be splashed by the blood of the contestants. Not only that but those in the front row enjoy the privilege of being able to aid their favorite constant by throwing a weapon in the ring to them, if it is a fight. Front row seating also get a chance to rate the fighters, if it is a death match, by displaying thumbs up if they don’t want the loser to die or thumbs down if they want to see the show go on.
The Colosseum is known for many things is the showing of trained exotic animals to those who are willing to pay the entrance fee. Other such events that are held include bull fighting, bull leaping, gladiator fights, ‘dog’ fights (Kelvic vs. Kelvic fights), the showing of numerous summoned creatures, and death matches. Each however can be enjoyed by the entry fee of one gold miza.
The Colosseum is run by Shale Tarren, who being a kelvic himself started this business a couple years ago, and watched the place prosper. Shale is a man who knows what he wants and that sense of direction is showed with every showing of the numerous animals that he has in captivity in the underground.
Shale is always looking for participants to fight in his arena. Though he is rather shrewd in terms of payment, he gives each fighter what he thinks they have earned. He has a couple rules though; one being the higher the risk in his eyes the higher the reward, and the other being if you pleased the crowd you have pleased him. A pleased Shale is known to give a little more generously.
-Shale Tarren-11 years old- is a shady, cruel mako shark Kelvic, who learned his talents from master who taught him his skills in both voiding and summoning. His apprenticeship ended by him disposing of a summoned creature along with his former master. He has a distinct under bite that shows his long sharp teeth even when his mouth is closed. Though being a Kelvic, he cares little for the companionship of others as they do not interest him, but there are rumors that he is in fact bonded to a person. Who exactly is left a mystery as the rumors do not say.
Shale runs The Akeldama Colosseum with an iron fist clenched on those who he bothers to hire. The acts and performances are expected to be nothing other than spectacular and if anything is presented less than the sharks standards pay is heavily deduced. He only wants talent, and the best of it. Rare as it is for him to take the stage, if he feels the show is going downhill, he will present himself and work with the animals himself.
The Gladiators of the Akeldama Colosseum have long been a part of the show that it puts on, and have been a staple in the Colosseums success. The brave fight between animals, monsters, and even each other has provided Alvadas the more gory kind of entertainment for years. Shale though being stingy with money will only pay a beginner 4 GM a day, those who have gained favor and fame within the Colosseum are said to be paid much more.
Within the Colosseum the Shale ranks the fighters based on their past accomplishments, giving them ranks accordingly and therefor paying more to those who have taken the time to gain the sharks favor. The titles include Beginner, Novice, Performer, Brawler, Skirmisher, Fighter, Gladiator, Overseer, Champion, and Grand Champion.
OOC: To earn titles you must gain ranks which are earned by points. Points are earned though battles. Points, much like experience, are assigned by the storyteller along the range of 1 point to 50 points (One Rank). They are given by how well the storyteller thinks the person did in their fight, how much of a show that they put on, and the trials overcome. The 1 to 50 should be treated as a scale. 1 point representing that the mod wasn't impressed or 50 points which states the obvious: the players did an outstanding job. These judgements should be taken lightly and is only a matter of opinion.
Ranks are specified by a gaining a certain number of points. Every fifty points gained the player will gain a rank. Also with the gaining of a rank comes the acquisition of five more silver miza to the player per day. A player cannot gain more than twenty ranks in which they receive an extra gold miza a day capping the miza amount earned through ranks alone to ten more gold miza a day.
Titles are earned through gaining ranks. Each title also carries with it perks that fighters can use when entering a fight in the Colosseum.
