Timestamp: 34th of Summer.

It was just another day out in the woods for Antar, working for the man. Chopping down trees, and hauling them back for processing. It was a little hot today, though the shades of the forest netted him a bit of a reprieve from the summer's heat and for the moment a delightful breeze was wafting above the treetops, creating the sounds of what he was beginning to refer to as the second ocean.

Above in the blue skies, fluffy white clouds stretched tall into the sky. Their billowing pillows of suspended water were bright in the summer sky. Around the woods, there was the sounds of birds, and animals chittering as they gathered themselves for the normal summer rituals that nature did. The rogue had even seen a wild turkey earlier on puffing its chest out and preening its feathers as it strutted its stuff to attract the females of its kind. He'd let it walk off without shooting it with his bow because of the sheer amusement it gave him to see it strutting about like one of braga's strimpets or dandy boys.

It was a good day, a peaceful day, and with his hands resting on his axe he'd taken the time to simply watch the skies to enjoy the simple bliss of nature's revelrie. As he bided his time, he thought he saw three shadows flitting across the backdrop of a cloud, darting in and out in a weaving dance. Unsure of what it was, he stared a moment waiting for the strange objects to come a little closer.

It was beautiful day indeed. Isaac has not had this much freedom since his surrogate father was alive. Freedom to do as he pleased without tending to Alphonse, as much as he enjoyed being with his brother, some separation was needed now more than ever. The tension between them was getting thick. The visit to Sunberth was the solution to their problems, at least in Isaac’s mind. Some peace and quiet, away from the crowds from Syliras, and what was better was more traveling in the outdoors, like the good old days.

The city was definitely different from what they were use to. Alphonse seemed to enjoy it; Isaac was constantly worrying for their safety. The tension from home came with them those first two days, until finally today, Alphonse ordered the eagle kelvic away. Some time apart would do them wonders, as Alphonse put it. Isaac met this idea with hesitation, but did not refute the idea completely, eventually complying with it.

That was how Isaac found himself in the woods near that woodcutter’s place, but unhindered by their work. The day was divine, and the woods, though not quite what he was use too, were still more of a home than that cramped room back in Syliras.

He flexed his wings out, stretching them as if he had not been in this form for a month. In truth, it had been quite some time since he had the ability to use his feathery state for more than a handful of hours. He kaw’d in delight, soaring between the trees, not having a care in the world until he heard the sound of an axe to the north of him.

With the curiosity of a child, Isaac drew closer to the noise. He saw a pale man working; he was alone for miles with the exception of the animal life, and that Cutters and Carvers place he had heard about, not investigated.

Wonder if he’s friendly?

Isaac found out the hard way that many of the people in Sunberth were not so friendly, as it were, then again, not many were friendly to him in Syliras either. The Kelvic decided to approach with some stealth, watch for a little bit before making him known. He just hoped the man was not going to kill him on the spot for being an eagle or something.

With that, Isaac weaved in and out of the trees, closing the distance between him and the pale man so that there was only four trees between him and the back of the other. He eased onto one of the near by branches, perching himself near the trunk to watch the rogue.

Taking his lunch out of his bag, Noth wondered why the trio of shadows seemed to dip below the treeline, one far ahead of the others. He assumed they were birds of some sort, which was a good thing. His mind briefly wondered if the two shadows behind the first were merely following a friend or hunting separately. But every archer possessed a fascination for bird feathers, they were collectibles for the fletching of arrows.

But that didn't mean he'd just randomly attack any bird of prey for their feathers. One or two pinion feathers were good enough to fletch six arrows apiece after all. Sighing he began to gnaw upon his meal, it was cold beef jerky with a bit of a salty taste, with a previously cooked (but now cold) potato on the side. The meal was a bit high in starch for his normal diet but on days he was working in the woods he tended to eat a bit more for energy.

Suddenly, he heard in the far off distance a falcon's cry, a high pitched screech that resonated a bit in his mind before it faded amongst the trees. Probably one of the birds marking a kill or something. He paid it no mind and settled back to eat his lunch when the cry was answered by a second screech which made him wonder if a pair of feathered creatures were talking to each other. 'Who knew, maybe it was a mated pair shouting about their freshly delivered meals?' He just hoped the other birdbrain was having as good a luck as the far off pair seemed to have.

Halfway through a bite of his potato, Noth noted a small rabbit hop into view across the meadow. He knew from experience the varmints were heavy in this neck of the woods, and adding one might make a good contribution later to the camp stew pot.

Setting his lunch down on the wagon bed, higher up then most predators would go, Antar grabbed his longbow and slowly crept forwards in a half crouch towards the hopping critter. Taking care his footsteps were upon the soft forest loam to mufflen his steps the instead of the piles of seed cones from pines that might betray his presence with a telltale crunching underfoot. When he was about ten meters away, Noth slowly knocked an arrow and stood. Taking a bead on the critter, he pulled back upon the string and released. The arrow flew, sinking itself into the bunny rabbits breast, throwing it on its back from the impact.

With a small smile, Noth moved towards the kill drawing his blade. In the distance, two falcon cries seemed echo far away.

Watching the human with his lunch reminded Isaac that it was lunchtime, and he was starting to get hungry. Though that was not the point right now, it was deciding whether or not this man was of any danger to Isaac. The eleven year old felt no danger though in getting a closer look for a moment, if he was quiet. Who would suspect an eagle to attack a human? Forget that… This was Sunberth, and if the man lived around here, it was likely he was going to be suspicious of everything, though from what Isaac could tell there was not much else aside from humans for species in these parts. The animals were pretty normal, but none appeared to be Kelvics in this area.

He pushed off with his talons and flew to a tree closer to the man, turning just slightly in a semi-circular fashion so he could get a different angle of the man, and what he was eating – not that Isaac was hungry. He attempted to be quiet, stealth being the key here, and the danger of not knowing what the human he was watching was capable of. The Kelvic shuddered to think about the knights in his hometown, and their collective strength.

Falcons could be heard in the surrounding areas, they were fighting over something from what Isaac could tell. He was not exactly fluent in the avian language, but enough so to know tonal differences between the cries. The birds around this area seemed to be as bit as aggressive as their humanoid counterparts within the city streets.

It was of no real consequence for Isaac though at this point, now that he had a better view of the backpack and the human chewing on what looked like a cold slice of meat, jerky most likely. It looked really good in fact, and even better, the guy had a potato. The eagle’s stomach growled a little.

It was at that moment that Isaac realized the danger the human presented, at the sight of the longbow, and the rogues’ approach to the rabbit. The Kelvic’s heartbeat picked up a few beats, thinking quickly. If the archer killed the rabbit, in that instant Isaac could swoop in and snatch up the corpse, but at the risk of the archer coming after him.

The question; was he really that hungry?

The answer; Yes, yes he was.

The question that rose immediately after that was, were his skills good enough to escape the archer’s wrath? It seemed like a simple enough plan, go take the rabbit the moment after it was shot, and escape. Isaac had no doubt in his flight abilities, and these woods were pretty thick – his stealth skills could come into play.

Now, he just had to wait for the moment, his talons poised down on the branch, ready to launch himself at the rabbit as soon as the archer let the arrow fly.

Noth jumped forwards with a spring in his step at a successful kill. He was glad of the quarry, another day or two of meat to fill his belly was always a good thing, and taking an easy mark of hunting in the Sunberthan woods while on the job made the catch all the sweeter. His relverie at the though to tasting rabbit in the stew pot was cut short by a shadow flitting across his field of vision, as it dove with outstretched claws towards the animal lifting the rabbit, and his arrow up to the sky as its wings buffeted the grass around the clearing before the shadow disappeared into the midst of the surrounding tree shroud.

For a moment, Noth blinked a little at the sight and cursed his luck as he realized it had to be a bird. What specific type he couldn't have made out because of things happening too fast , but with the wingspan it had to be at least a hawk, falcon, or other bird of prey.'Damn petching thing still had his arrow for cripes sake!" Kicking at the dirt to curse his luck and ease his frustration, Noth stood up slowly and turned back towards the wagon. After taking a few steps he thought over how things had just went down and that launched his mind into a series of turning wheels and cogs.

Birds... did not usually steal others prey unless they were carrion birds or game was scarce. Or really truly hungry for some reason or another... at least, not normal everyday birds. Not in his experience at least, shaking his fist at the treeline he shouted, "You could have at least given memy arrow back you darn birdbrain!"

In the distance he heard the falcons cry out again, this time as they were getting closer to his area and glanced upwards to see now two shadows circling above. Circling... not flying away like any other normal bird should. What was with it with these critters today?

Feeling a bit uneasy as he felt the sensation like someone, or several someone's watching him, Noth picked up his quiver from the back of the wagon and then picked up his bagged lunch. For a few moments, he glanced towards the falcons above, and back towards the forests where the larger bird had fled. For an archer, bird feathers were priceless components of fletching their arrows. A pinion feather of a large bird alone would fletch six of them, and 'the fluff' down was still capable of feathering individual arrows.

Mulling his options over, he took a swig from his drinking flask and wondered why he saw the two falcons divebomb themselves somewhere into the nearby forest canopy. Something about their behavior just seemed... off ... to him. Same with the eagles. It was like it was a mystery, and Noth hated not having the answer to such mysteries. Making a decision to spend an hour in the woods to investigate, Noth put the axe down into the wagon, and patted dawnstride a moment before shrugging on his shoulder harness for his dagger and picked up his bow once more to make his way further into the shadow shrouded woods.

oocSince it seems Isacc left the site it's time to continue with plan B

At about ten paces into the woods, he turned back with a solemn shake of his fist at the departing eagle, Noth wandered back to the wagon where Dawnstride was tied up and began to eat the rest of his lunch. It wasn't a bad day out in the woods, but as the Falcons cries grew closer an eerie feeling began to cause the hairs on the back of his neck to be raised.

The feeling of being watched.

For a time, he just stayed as he was listening to the woods, and noticed that in the nearby trees, the sounds of birds and insects had gone strangely quiet. Too quiet... as if something was in the woods they were afraid of besides human presences. Securing his lunch away, Noth reached back to take up his gladius from the wagon's back and secured the sheathe to the harness behind his right shoulder before going up to lay a hand upon his horse's neck... She was quiet as well, her eyes moving fitfully as they scanned the forest around them, her . He was a cautious man, sometimes described as paranoid to a fault, but the horse's instincts seemed to match his own.

But what could have quieted the animals so much? A bear? A monster? He didn't know. All he knew was that it was best to judge discretion as the better part of valor.

Noth unlimbered his bow and kept an arrow knocked in preparation, holding it together with his left hand's index finger curled over top of the shaft at a rest position. With his right , he took Dawnstride's reins in hand and began to walk carefully back towards the Carver Brother's place with his eyes scanning every part of the distant treeline. Searching for only the gods knew what. It was easy to get spooked in the South Woods, and he might be made fun of later at work, but it was better to listen to one's instincts and be cautious so you might live another day.

Upon the way, he heard another falcon's cry, this one closeby, and he tried to scan where it was coming from. It was a different cry then before, almost unnatural sounding, and then he realized something... it was in the tone's of a human's vocal range, and followed by the sounds of haunting laughter which mocked him all the while...

(Cutters & Carvers)Birds of Prey:Falcon Troubles(Isaac Kane)

Postby Antar on September 1st, 2011, 1:25 am

Slowing his horse and wagon, Noth's eyes travesed a little down the road to where there in a tree overhanging the road perched a rather large bird, a falcong in fact, with bits of meat in its claws. He couldn't tell what the kill was. But right next to the creature, a man, a boy really lay staring in Noth's direction. Just staring and smiling at Noth a moment before he tapped the feathered creature feasting beside it for attention. The falcon cocked its head to the side and let out a mocking craw, sounding oddly like a crow, but Noth noticed something odd about the boy.

For one thing he was armed, with a longsword no less, and just sitting above the path as clear as a bell. For a second, it seemed like the three (perhaps four if you counted his horse Dawnstried) had entered a staring contest of sorts, and the silence stretched on. Finally, Noth cleared his throat as he let out a slight jibe. "Awfully odd to find a boy sitting high up in a tree , next to a falcon which should have been frightened off by his presence. Isn't it?"

The boy smiled a wicked looking smile and didn't answer Noth at all. The other falcon made a sort of chortling raucaous cry that was reminiscent of human laughter. Noth didn't speak any further, just staring at them for a while as the falcon almost rolled off the perch laughing. He stared at it, wondering what exactly the creature was doing, and why it was behaving in such an uncharacteristic manner.

His questions were suddenly answered when the laughing falcon flipped itself upward, claws over beak as it's profile was set awash in a haze of murky light. Almost instantaneously, a clothed laughing teenage girl had taken its place as she plunked down on the same branch on her rump, almost shaking the boy beside her off balance enough to fall.
"Oh...ho hoh... Did you see that Reynold? The way that eagle took his catch!"

All the teenager got back was an irritable glare from 'Reynold.'

Noth nodded a bit to the girls words and decided to take the pair's humorous (if albeit malevolent) approach in good grace. But that didn't mean Antar was going to let his hands off his bow for a second. Not in Sunberth's South woods where all the oddities in the world seemed to emerge in one day. First an eagle stealing his rabbit, and now these two birdbrain kids. He figured they were kelvics from their behavior, in fact he could almost guarantee it for the boy to get up that high in a tree in such a short amount of time.

But what type of kelvic was the boy was the real conundrum, a wolf? A bear? Something dangerous to Noth? He'd have to play along enough to press them a little for information. It seemed the girl at least was a talkative sort even with the malevolent vibe he was getting from the boy...
"So I take it you're both not just out here to play? If that's the case, perhaps the two of you would be kind enough to let me pass?"

The girl chortled again, "Hey Reynold, You hear that? He wants us to let him pass? Didja hear him ? Didja? He wants to pass."

Finally, at the incessant remarks coming from the girl, the boy hissed, "Shut your craw , Elissa! You're acting like such a crow!"

At this the girl almost fell backwards off the branch laughing again, giving Antar the opening to throw a friendly jibe in Reynold's direction."I see you're not too fond of the young lady's sense of humor Reynold. Is there anything you need help with today in the South Woods?" Were you perhaps looking for that Eagle earlier? Did he steal anything from you too? I certainly hope that's the case other I'd think you and your." He interrupted himself to ask, "I guess she might be your sister, right?"

The boy's eyes narrowed in his direction."Sure, we'll go with that, yeah, she's my sister. What's it to you-?"

Unperturbed by the boy's unfriendly glare, Noth blithely continued, "Well yes, as I was saying. Otherwise I'd think you and your sister are just a couple of bandits. You're not bandits, are you?"

"Whooh Ha Ha hah! Didja hear that Reynold, Didja? He thinks were band-"
"Shut up Ellise!" the boy hissed before turning back towards Antar with a sly smile, "No we're not bandits. Never care to steal much at all."

Pressing his luck, Noth smiled and made a short bow. "Oh, I see... then its a pleasure to make your acquaintance. So it's all right if I pass by, I suppose."
Taking the reins of Dawnstride in hand he made as if to take another step before the boy held up his hand.
"Now, now, though I said we weren't bandits, I never said we weren't toll collectors either! You want to pass on our road you got to pay a fee."
"Yeah, A fee."

Smiling Noth looked at them, and plastered a wry look upon his face as if he had just come to a realization. Pantomiming things he pointed to the road he was on and swept his hands back and forth."Oh... Let me get this straight: You mean to use this dirt path we cut to go back to the store. You want me to pay you? Is that it?"

The boy nodded, and dropped to the ground to unlimber the longsword from his back. "Of course, Sis and I are always hungry. A little bit of coin goes a long way you know?"
"Oooh hah ha! Hah ha ha! Hungry that's a good one, when was that last human we ate? Lasted us a week!"

Noth smiled and shrugged as he walked slowly to the side to tie his horse off to a tree. He made sure to keep one eye on the boy with the longsword. "Oh... so a human you ate... lasted you an entire week eh? Shame... I regret to inform you, I don't plan on being your next meal."
"Reynold, I told you I wanted Eagle today. We had human last time..." the girl whined a little to her brother.
"Shut up Elisse! The other bird flew off already! We take what we can ge-"

Noth decided it was time to end the games as he interjected in a gruff voice, attempting to offset the little bastard a little. "My boy, I'm afraid you've bitten off a lot more then you can chew with me, birdbrain..."

The boy glared at him. For just the briefest second, Noth could have sworn he'd saw the young kelvic step back a little as the rogue confidently walked back to the center of the road. He was confident of his chances at least, rolling his neck around casually in an excuse to limber up. All the while he had his eyes on the boys, slowly trying to intimidate him into backing down. For a second, hoping the kelvic would take the hint. As he began to focus his atention upon the pair he began to think of him and his 'siblings as targets; threats that needed to be eradicated. Somewhere, in some small place in the back of his mind, Noth came to the realization that kelvics in the south woods who liked to eat other species (even other kelvics) was probably nott the oddest thing he'd ever encounter out here.

They weren't bandits, just killers out hunting for their next meal. So perhaps a small portion of his soul relished the idea that it was time to find out who the better hunter was... it was like something had flicked a switch inside their little kelvic heads to tell them to go play somewhere, and Noth sensed that there was a part of his own darker nature that felt the same way. Especially today, after he'd been invited out to play with them... and he really wanted to play.

(Cutters & Carvers)Birds of Prey:Falcon Troubles(Isaac Kane)

Postby Antar on September 1st, 2011, 9:27 am

When the moment of conflict ensued, Noth could sense it by a change in the air and see the tensing of the boy's body as his instinct screamed at him to strike first. Pulling back on the string of his bow he aimed and got off a quick shot, and saw the boy duck out of the arrow's path. The girl behind him was not so lucky as it imbedded itself in her upper arm. In haste, Noth tossed aside his bow, and drew his kukri, as he noticed the boy coming in for a charge with the blade coming in from on high, a common stance for any swordsman.

Planting his feet back for the throw, he grabbed the pommel of his kukri and raised it perpendicular to the ground for the release before tossing it like he’d been shown in the yard all those many weeks ago. It spun through the air, end over end, with the 12 inches of steel implanting itself in the charging swordsman's gut. That didn't stop Reynold though, adrenaline was a powerful thing and he had to dodge backwards at a half skip, leaning to the side as the blade of the longsword passed through where his head had been. As the overextended boy tried to get a follow up swing, Antar left hand shot out to catch the pommel while kneeing the man in the groin to stagger him back in time to gain some distance.
Using the gained time, Noth quickly drew his gladius from the sheathe at his right shoulder as behind the boy the girl's scream ended with another curse. Without hesitation, he went on the offensive.
Starting with a straight thrust deep into the boy's shoulder, followed by a back handed blow that sent him reeling to the ground, the longsword clattering from the kelvic's useless fingers.

The pitch of the girl's screaming changed instantly, from a cry of pain to instant fury at the sight of her 'brother' laying there upon the ground. She charged as well, using her good hand to bring out a small scythe and chain from her belt to swing wildly at him.

Grunting in frustration, he was forced on the defensive. Using the flat of the blade Mok had shown him, Antar's arm rang in a series of vibrations as he blocked the ferocity of the slices coming in his direction. Step by step he moved back towards the tree line, shifting his position to gain advantage amidst the dense branches. His tactic proved itself worthy, when a wild swing made the girl's sickle blade imbed itself into the nearest limb.
He bull rushed her, planting his shoulder into the young kelvic's gut to send her sprawling backwards without her weapon. She fell, with Noth quickly seizing the upper hand. Without caring for mercy, only noting the necessity he brought the pommel of his gladius upwards to strike at her temple, knocking her senseless and into unconsciousness as Noth glanced back towards the dying boy.

In that second, Noth knew it was over... with that single thought the urge to kill fled from him, as he scrambled back to his feet and began to think of what to do. Coming to a decision, judging by the irritation of the day the rogue merited it might be alright to let his darker nature come to the forefront a little to exact a just retribution before the dying boy kicked off. Already, the smell of voided bowels filled the air as Reynold's pierced intestines began to leak into the body.
The rogue took a moment to casually gather up the weapons used in the fight, the dropped longbow, the longsword, and the sickle to secure them in the wagon. Fetching some rope, Antar turned back to the downed pair of would be human-snackers, and dragged the female kelvic by the arm towards the dying kelvic. Without care for the injured kelvic's regard, Antar enjoyed pulling his kukri from Reynold's gut cleaned it on the boy's pants as the kelvic just gave him a shocked stare as he stood back up. The boy was absentmindedly trying to hold in his intestines with one hand. Going towards the injured girl, he tied her up with the rope and lashed a loop of rope about her neck. Then, he woke her with a few light slaps across the face as he stared at the injured boy. Her eyes widened at the sight of Reynolds blood on the ground as noth turned towards the boy. With a wry smile, Noth spoke to him. "So, can you still change there Reynolds. If you do, I'll give you a clean death. Much better than the one your having now , isn't it?"

The boy stared at him, then at the girl, as Noth blithely continued. Of course if you don't... I'll use this time you’re still alive to let you see me do some horrible things to your sister here."
”You bastard!” Elisse spat.

Noth shut her up with a quick blow across the face before turning his attention back to the boy. The threat of what he might do was implied of course, rape was just a small number of things he could inflict upon the girl. But noth wasn't much a fan of rape. Retribution? Yes. Torture? Maybe.. Rape, No.

Reynold’s managed to gasp out a final goodbye, "Goodbye Ellisse... my bonded. I’m sorry we haven’t had very long together… less than a week." The boy struggled and cursed him with a look as a shimmer wave of light eclipsed his body.

In its place, a falcon appeared, fully feathered, wounded, and bleeding with its guts open to the world. The girl had tears running down her cheeks as Noth chopped down with the kukri to sever the birdbrain's neck. He almost wondered what the term 'bonded' meant, but he found out right enough when the girl gasped as and convulsed as if it had been her own death forming. She didn't die though, or transform into a bird to fly away. Instead Elisse, took upon a state of catatonia and weeping as she cried out for her 'brother', mumbling the name Reynold's over and over.

Only checking after she was still alive, Noth unscrupulously gutted the falcon's corpse and secured it, feathers and all in the back of the wagon. He'd use the falcon’s gains to make arrows, and its claws might be useful for carving. But now it was just a matter of what to do with the female kelvic who stared unknowingly about her, then at him as if he was the cruelest person in the world...

Ever so calmly Noth, looked down at her and spoke. "Now, don't look at me like that. You know better. Especially when going up against another predator such as myself."
Tears were in Elisse's eyes when she spat, "Bastard, I-"
Noth cut her off, "No , you won't girl. You won't do anything! I tried to warn you both off. I tried to tell you to go look for someone else to eat. But no, You didn't petching listen! This situation is exactly of your own making, Elisse! Accept that fact, now or you'll never see another birthday again!"
Ellisse shut her mouth, before speaking, "So what now, are you going to rape me? Sell me? Keep me as a plaything or a pet? You just killed my bonded... I ... I... "
Noth looked at her with cold curiosity, as he tested the edge of his drawn blade against a fingernail. He was simply holding it in a detached state, a fact alone which could be taken as extremely menacing, "You know... I should do all three if I wanted too. But I draw the line at rape. Perhaps I should keep you until you actually want it. Locked up in a cage and fed from my hand until you don't care for anything else. But let's start the decision making process like this: I'll ask questions: you answer. So what is a bonded kelvic anyways?"

The girl cried more tears, "It just something I can't explain..."
"Try!" Noth termed harshly.
Ellisse shuddered and sobbed as she spoke, "It's a connection to another person. You know their soul. They know yours. Reynolds and I bonded last week and now... and now..."
Noth cut her off again. "This bond breaking didn't seem to kill you. So does that mean you could bond again?"
"I... I don't know... Maybe. It wasn't a strong bond yet. Just a bit of shared blood… and the first sensing of him… I … I… Oh Reynold…"
With a stern demeanor, Noth calculated such a thing might be valuable to someone but there was one question he had to ask first. "So, did you ever really eat a human, before?"
The kelvic girl sobbed, [color=red]"No... no... we only ever fed on a charodae whose body washed ashore about fifty miles from here. We don't really like to eat humans, but ... but... Reynolds said he wanted to try... It was just a stupid obsession of his to prove himself bloodthirsty enough to make a name for himself in Sunberth. He wanted to garner the Crow and the Raven's favor. Make his way as a thief."

At the mention of the names , Noth's interest was further peaked, as well as his caution. "Did either of you ever meet up with the Night Eyes before?"
"No... we never even got into sunberth before. Been living in the hills is all."
Noth nodded, and weighed that into his calculations, "I see... so you don't actually know the Night Eyes or anyone in Sunberth for that matter?"
"No..." The girl sobbed as more tears came to her eyes as she stared at Noth and then the knife...

Ever so slowly, Noth put it away, and smiled down at the girl… ”You know I may just keep you for myself, working yourself free. Or maybe not. Perhaps you’d care to bond as well? I could find many a use for a falcon around besides as feathers for my arrows.”
”Go to hell!” the girl said before spitting a lob of phlegm onto his boot.
”Oh I guess that’s what you say now, but hmm it all depends on what I wish to do now, isn’t it. But first... you’ll have to sleep awhile.”

He knocked her unconscious again with another strike before paying attention to the wound. Cutting the arrow’s shaft near the fletching he pushed it through as it began to weep a little blood. Holding out his arm he summoned his djed, careful to tap only into his reserve to gain a small slathering of res over the wound’s entrance and exit, before igniting the substance to cauterize it. Tying a noose tight about the girl’s throat he secured her under a tarp in the back of the wagon and made his way back to the shop.

Unloading the half load Noth stopped a moment to tell the yard boss of the day to relay to the one of the brothers that he was leaving early and that he should warn the men to be wary about the area of the south woods he’d just been in. Something there wasn’t right, and it had gotten too quiet, and he thought maybe wolves were moving in. That much was true, he had seen a few tracks running through there in the recent past. When that was over he unhitched Dawnstride and saddled her up, and stowing her gear before unceremoniously tying the bound girl (in the tarp no less) up across the saddle to make his way into town.

He had a few decisions to make on what to do with his hard earned prize…
