[Flashback] To Seal Friendship with Ink (Bold)

[Laria]

She grinned as Bolden became more animated, joining in with her pointing out tattoos. She followed his motion to a tattoo to her left - the rearing mare. "Ooh yeah that's a nice one!" She leaned in, examining it closer, before looking round at the sword he had now found, and then onto the daggers. "Ooh yeah that sword would look good! As for matching tattoos, do you really think I'd suit a dagger?" She gave him a sidelong look. Laria had never so much as held a blade before in her life. Another design caught her eye, and she pointed it out. "Hey look at that one! It's amazing!" It was a feather with a knot-work pattern inked into it. "What do you think of that Bold?" ooc : Link to the feather design.

[Bolden Denusk]

Bolden looked at Laria and grinned.

"Nah. Daggers aren't you at all. You're too soft and girly for that!" He teased, digging her in the ribs.

The young man stared at the feather's design, something about it seemed... right.

"It's a glassbeak feather! And we're two horses of a feather!" He stabbed a finger at the tattoo picture as he exclaimed.

"That's the one for us Palomino! We're fearless together--tough as a glassbeak!" Bolden proclaimed, resting an arm on Laria's shoulder with complete comfort.

"I think it's perfect for us." He beamed at Palomino with confidence. "I like it. What do you think of it? And if we did get it, where should we put it?"

[Laria]

Laria poked Bolden in return, grinning. "I'm not that girly!" It was true that Laria could not be called a girly-girl. She had no qualms at getting muddy or dusty, since working with horses usually entailed both of those things in large quantities. And while she was useless in a fight, she was rather adept at keeping the horses in check. A Glassbeak? Well, if he must! Laria grinned at him. "Two horses of... ah nevermind." She was pretty sure that was not quite how the saying went, but she wasn't going to call him out on it. Besides, they were more attuned to horses than birds. "I like it too!" She examined the feather closer. "Hmm, not too big. Perhaps a wrist? Or," She motioned to the top of her right arm where her shoulder touched his. "Shoulder?" Laria smiled at him, waiting for a response or even his own idea.

[Bolden Denusk]

Bolden grinned at her playful poke and tweaked her ear.

"The wrist doesn't seem like the right place."

Bold looked down at his Palomino girl where they stood shoulder to shoulder and hip to hip as always since his injuries.

"If we're gonna get matching tattoos, it has to mean something ya know?"

He deliberated on it, looking from Laria to the design and back again.

"Pal, you really want the shoulder? Or do you think it should be somewhere no one else can see? Like a secret handshake-only they're secret tattoos?"

When he followed her glance, he looked past their shoulders. Bolden kept his gaze locked on their touching hips, waiting for her eyes to follow his.

"I can think of the perfect place Palomino! I mean, we -are- joined at the hip aren't we? Besides it's -our- tattoos so they gotta be I dunno, more personal right?"

[Laria]

Laria shrugged. She had always thought about decorating her wrist. Though thinking about it now, it didn't seem right for Bolden. "Yeah, I know..." She paused for a moment, considering his question. "Well, perhaps, I mean the shoulder is nice and all. But that's actually a good idea Bold." Secret tattoos. It sounded interesting, fun, quite like the pair of them. She glanced sidelong at him again, frowned, and the followed his gaze. Another pause, before a grin appeared on her face. "Yes! That's exactly right. Hey Bold, you're awesome!" She grabbed his wrist and dragged him into the tent behind her, heading over to one of the tattooists. "Excuse me, we would like to get that feather you have in the picture outside." She pulled Bolden forward so he was next to her again. "We want them to match."

[Bolden Denusk]

"Nope nope, -you're- the awesome one for thinking to look in here!" He smiled hugely at Laria, knowing this was a memory he'd keep for life.

Keeping an arm around Laria, he said to the tattooist,

"It can be our promise that we'll be always friends -no matter what- happens. She saved my life and she's been propping me up ever since! See?" Bolden gestured proudly to their usual stance with shoulders and hips touching.

"So we're thinking hip tattoos, exactly where we're touching--like always. My left hip, her right one. Do you have a second artist around so we can get them at the same time?"

Bolden looked down at the golden haired girl with very serious amber eyes and vowed to her,

"This is our promise Palomino, sealed with ink. Nothing will keep us apart forever--not even death."
