He sat still and quiet, making sure not to startle the Kelvic. The display of desperate hunger made Taln a little sad at first, knowing how very many times he'd felt exactly the same way. He was clearly fascinated by her animal form and instincts, unable to tear his gaze away. With vivid emerald eyes, the large man avidly studied the wolf before him.
Although the Dek didn't really know her, he envied her, the imagined freedom. The ability to go wherever she chose, whenever she felt like it. To eat or sleep at her own whim. She could speak, attack or walk away at any time she wanted and a bit of jealousy burned within him.
At the same time, she seemed fearful and vulnerable; both of these thing he'd endured daily. Taln was glad he could get her a much needed meal when she looked so thin. She reminded him of himself, of all the times he'd starved until someone had literally thrown him a few scraps of meat and bone. Mesa's combination of timid human and wild wolf brought out a protective side that drew him to her.
