Description: Near the Courtyard of the sky, but not too near that the noises of the city clashed with the music, was a huge amphitheater much like the Courtyard of the sky. Unlike the Courtyard, however, this open-air venue on the side of the mountain wasn’t carved by nature; it was the result of many human hands and many years of work. The structure was simple and well built. With the intention of the space being used to train hopeful musicians, the Amphitheater was carefully crafted. Since it was carved into the side of the mountain, miles of rock still towered above them. On a plateau that lead out to the cliffs edge was the stage; it was a semi-circle in shape and had been smoothed flat for safety reasons (being so close to the edge of the mountain, and all). The side of the mountain opposite the stage had been smoothed by reminancers into a gradual slope in preparation for the spectators. Into this slope was carved row upon row of seats, each level higher than the next. Fitting well over five hundred people, these seats were designed to allow everyone a view of the stage while also enhancing the natural acoustics of the space. When in use, one would enter the stadium by way of the same path that linked the Courtyard of the Sky and Inclement Weather. Chairs or stools would be placed upon the stage for the performers. While the Amphitheater was mostly used for musical purposes, the rare play could also be hosted using this space. Other than the sheer size of the place, the most beautiful thing about the theater had to be it's carvings. All along the mountain face behind the stadium were massive depictions of trees. Carved for the beautifully massive trees in Aventhal, the Inartans had decided upon this design to complement and thank the snowy city for their continued help and trade. As the stony forest progressed across the span of the amphitheater, the trees morphed into giant music notes. The whole effect was gorgeous, a masterpiece to be proud of. To the left of the stage, and well hidden by an outcropping of rock, was a room. This was the living space of Old Cedar, the hermit-like music teacher. No one really remembers his name or where he came from, he has always just kind of been there. So, Old Cedar simply asked to be called after his beloved theater. Enjoying his solitude from the everyday hustle and bustle, Cedar’s students and apprentices would come to him for their lessons. Cedar’s theater side quarters consisted of thee rooms, all of them connected to each other from the inside. The first room upon entrance was the living space; this was decorated with many comfortable chairs gathered around a fireplace, the walls covered with shelves of books. Two of the remaining three rooms contained Cedars sleeping quarters and the washroom. Next to Cedar's quarters was a teaching space. This was accessed from a separate door, and was only furnished with rows of stools and one comfortable looking armchair. The students gathered here for lessons. If they were lucky, Cedar would teach them himself. The old man always seemed to be disappearing, however, and so a team of Chiet and Avora leaders had been set in place to teach and orchestrate performances. These men and women were put to the task of guiding young musicians on their path to greatness. NPCs: Cedar: An old man in his late 60s, he had a gentle, quiet nature and preferred to sit and watch rather than participate. While he enjoyed to live alone next to his Amphitheater, he was known to wander the halls of Wind Reach in the early mornings and late evenings, once the craziness of the city had died down. He was a master musician, able to play just about every instrument ever invented, and an endless source of knowledge for those wishing to learn the beautiful art of music. Roul: Was the Avora Leader in charge of tutelage and performences. All other Chiet and Avora's looked to him when Cedar was absent. Roul had only Cedar to answer too, and was handpicked by the old man for his passion of the arts and skill in everything music related. Mod Note: Feel free to Self Moderate these NPC's |
