Name: Adam Quick
Physical Information
Race: Human
Birthday & Age: 68th of summer 488 - 23
Gender: Male
Place of birth: Ahnatep
Current residence: Syliras
Current location: Syliras

Physical Description
Adam will be the first to admit that he is a pretty boy, and luckily would not be the last. Dark full lashes frame brilliant brown irises that sparkle like gold. Their honey colour only adds to Adam's apparent sweetness. His face is well defined and without blemish, and often littered with unruly stubble. As a child of the desert, Adam is olive skinned, some aesthetically pleasing blend between fair and tanned.

Quick has a slim build that fits his lifestyle like a perfect pair of trousers. Despite a modest muscle mass, he still manages to look strong with muscles cut from stone, hardened by regular and intense exercise. His body doesn't hold much fat which adds to definition in the contours of his sinewy muscles. Adam's hands and feet are heavily calloused from strenuous activity, but he has not lost any precious dexterity.

The blossoming thief sticks to dark and neutral colours, not having a particularly strong desire to stick out in a crowd. His hubris shines through though and Adam favours form fitting clothing, that shows off a fit physique. Because this regularly interferes with nefarious activities, Adam has taken a liking to the pockets afforded by cloaks and backpacks.

Adam wears a thick well-worn leather strap on either wrist that usually hold a couple tools in case of dire need. When on a late night excursion that carries some risk of incrimination, Adam guards his identity with a white wooden mask decorated with a vildani on the left cheek.

Character Concept

Adam is in a constant quest for glory, he is driven by an intense desire to be famous (or infamous, he doesn't care). So far, Mr. Quick has sought fame in one of two ways; by stealing, or by attracting large amounts of attention. He is committed to living a happy life but has yet to figure out exactly how to do so. Down the road, Adam will be caught between his religious devotion to Akajia and Ionu and the choice will greatly affect his outlook. In short, Adam is still figuring stuff out but has the long term goal of fame, and the short term goal of enjoyment.

Personality – Adam is an upbeat man. He has found that happy people are not only more disarming, but also much easier to sympathize with. With this in mind, the quick rogue enjoys social interaction of all kinds. He rarely passes up a good opportunity, which has given him amazing experience but sometimes long lasting scars.

Ethics – Adam is largely neutral, with a dash of egotism. If it means getting ahead in life, he has no problem getting a little dirty. Despite this, Adam would like to be perceived as good, and is not opposed to good action.

Likes – Adam is a heavy opportunist. This is both blessing and curse since he has trouble resisting a ripe opportunity. Coupled with a thorough desire for wealth and fame, the quick rogue is basically a kleptomaniac. Additionally, Adam enjoys social interaction, especially when he is somehow superior. As a side note, he thoroughly enjoys the freedom gained by being physically fit.

Dislikes – Adam doesn't strongly dislike any particular race, because any race can be conned. He has inherited the ephyrian dislike of losing and can become greatly competitive because of it. Furthermore, Adam is not a huge fan of fighting but this may be due to his utter incompetence at it.

Religion – Adam isn't entirely convinced in the existence of some divine maker, but he acknowledges the presence of beings far more powerful than himself. More accurately, he doesn't think that a god's chief concern could possibly be lowly humans. With that said, he has a healthy respect for Akajia and Iounu, believing that such deities are most likely to sympathize with his search for recognition and lack of moral compass.

Character History
Pre-Creation
optional :
Born in the golden oasis of Ahnatep, Adam was showered with attention from a loving family. His father was a a cunning man, wise in the ways business. In fact, Adam's father was such a skilled merchant shark that he garnered great prestige for his human family. Due to the rigid caste system, this was quite a feat and despite being extremely busy, the patriarch earned no ire from his son. Adam's mother was the archetypical nurturing mother who spent her time raising Adam and making the home. The motherly figure poured her heart and soul in to her child, always staying upbeat. The father became a role model for his son, smart and quick to snatch up opportunity.

Early years were fairly routine, During the day Adam would help his mother and play with local children. He was an incredibly cute child and even eypharian mother's would make offhand comments on his potential beauty. Evenings were often a time for celebration; Adam's father would return home and regale his son with tales of the days escapades, daring trades, or exotic wonders. Occasionally, these stories would be of Adam's parents' emmigration from Zeltiva. By far, Adam's favourite treat was to go and see the gravity defying feats of acrobatics at the amphitheatre. Countless days were spent in imitation of high flying antics, much to the amusement of the boys mother. Adam's obsession grew in to a character defining hobby where he would astound other children with his amazing agility. Needless to say, he excelled at any games of chase.

The young lad's happiness was not to last, though. The shell of innocence shattered and Adam began to notice the looks of scorn thrown his way. His father was a gilded merchant, deserving of respect for having climbed so high from a disadvantaged position. Adam was simply a humanoid child. A minority in a city of beautiful elitists. The caste system was blessing and curse. With his father, he was treated with esteem and grace, without his father Adam was barely acknowledged. Even the children that he used to play with were beginning to exclude him. They would all gather together but when it was time to divide in to teams, Adam was simply forgotten. When he was included, it was an indignant tolerance that could be even worse than outright exclusion.

Children can be so cruel. They speak with such honesty and innocence. Adam was told time and again that it was just the way of things and he couldn't change his birthright. This was perhaps the inception of his obsession for recognition. He began to act more fiercely competitive. Challenging the eypharian boys in order to prove his worth. He was often faster, but the children played many games that required high dexterity. As apt as Adam was, he found himself wishing for additional arms. The resounding and unyielding situation was that Adam was different from the other boys, and that different made him feel less than. There was even the heartbreaking tale of his first girlfriend, a kind preteen girl named Kahjidah. She broke up with him because “they couldn't hold hands” or at least not all of them. Yes, children can be so cruel.

As he grew older, Adam's father began talking about the family business. Obviously, he hoped that his son would take over his trading business. In his father's eyes, this was an adequate solution to his son's feeling of isolation. “He can work his way up and earn a place among the gilded.” He would say. To Adam, this was simply a clever ruse. It didn't matter how much jewelry he wore, he was still a human and would always be somehow inferior to the eypharians. Still, the young rogue longed for acceptance. He had refined his physical abilities and was in search of a method of separation, some way to be better than his peers.

Adam found what he was looking for by use of his wit. He took up parlour games and made a practice of duping his peers with simple games (rigged and otherwise). He learned that a warm smile and keen wit resulted in more success and less bruises. Whenever he did find himself on the wrong end of a patron, Adam was eager to exercise his legs. On the rare occasions that he did attempt to hold his own, Adam was reminded of his human limitations by way of a multitude of fists. It wasn't long before Adam got his first taste of fame. The other teenagers began to recognize Adam, sadly, he was recognized as the tricky human. Still, it was a taste of what Adam had sought for so long; to be recognized, and to have his reputation precede him. The rather unfortunate side effect of which was setting him on a less than desirable path. His parents began to worry but were not met with any satisfying answer. Typical teenager. They had other things to worry about since another child was on it's way.

Adam quickly fell in to the wrong group of friends, who encouraged all sorts of trouble. They were dissatisfied with the class system and, like many teenagers, sought to rebel against the status quo. Most of the time, their antics resulted in slaps on the wrist and questioning their heritage. Of course, this only resulted in escalation and eventually Adam, seeking glory, tried to steal from Kahmen re Bisret of the East Winds. The blossoming thief was unsuccessful and was caught. His human heritage acted against him and he would have been put to death were it not for his father's considerable influence.

Adam would never forget the emptiness of his father's eyes. It was then that he realized what he had taken for granted. His father had spent a fortune and called in leaned on old friends to change fate. The sixteen year old was banished instead. His parents were heartbroken as they said goodbye to their son. His father gave him a silver dice set (an early childhood toy) as his mother wept. Adam shed real tears and wished that their second child wouldn't waste such wonderful parents.

Adam wandered through the desert for a few days, wallowing in exile. It is entirely possible that his brain was cooked by the heat, but his exodus revealed a great many personal truths and Adam was glad for the experience. He solidified an inner optimism before stowing away on a ship bound for Mura but was discovered half way. He amused the sailors with his parlour games and instead of walking the plank, he was sent to Sunberth.

The city was oddly fitting for Adam. He was a quick man and adopted this as his namesake. While his hands were inadequate by eypharian standards, Adam was quite deft compared to other humans. He made a life for himself like anyone else in Sunberth, by lying, cheating, and stealing. The lack of classes was a godsend to Adam, he felt equal. Judged by merit and not birth. He found company with some of the lower rungs of the Night eyes. Many of the members had also suffered great hardship and dealt with it in much the same way as a teenager. Fame was hard to come by for an individual though and Adam found himself restless. He responded to this feeling by setting off across Syliras in search of glory and perhaps redemption. He currently resides in Syliras, the centre of humanity practically promising opportunities for fame.
