I’d like to think of my PC as more or less average (apart from the fact that his family have money, I suppose). He’s of average height, maybe a little on the thin side, he has a nice face, but he isn’t so extraordinarily handsome that women faint (or do other things) when they see him (although he does of course think he’s the best looking man ever). His parents are both still alive, he has a sister who is also still alive, even a nephew and cousins and all kinds of other family members. There is no deep, dark, tragic secret in his past.
He doesn’t rebel against Rhysol, but loves him with all his heart. He isn’t mentally ill, and he doesn’t have any superpowers either. He thinks that he’s the most intelligent man in the world, and all others are idiots, but that’s just arrogance. He’s still clueless about a lot of things.
Sure, he has whole lot of issues (he finds blood disgusting, he doesn’t like touching people and discriminates against other races, women, homosexuals, old people etc.), but his problems make sense and can at least partly be explained by the environment he grew up in.
No MPD, I’m afraid, and he still has all his limbs (and just the right amount). I don’t need a PC without eyes, an albino Akalak, a 7’ Inarta or a male Konti or some other strange creature to stand out. I very much prefer a PC that is normal and make him stand out through my writing. I think PCs like that are the most interesting.
All those orphans and people with MPD get on my nerves (although I’m not entirely against them – I don’t mind the occasional orphaned or insane PC if he or she is written well).
