(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role play forums. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)
The player scrapbooks forum is literally a place for writers to warm-up, brainstorm, keep little scraps of notes, or just post things to encourage themselves and each other. Each player can feel free to create their own thread - one per account - and use them accordingly.
The thrills amuse me of writing the gods and the gnosis threads and the quests of that caliber, I am just not ready yet personally in my progress to DShood. That's my hesitation.
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.
Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.
The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.
Thank you.

The problem is cycles. While I appreciate what you guys have said about DSing and your domains, I still see the same things happening over and over again. One of the very first things (and a mistake in my mind) I see AS's making is that they want to REPOST everything in their domains in their names. They often do this without crediting original posters and to the determent of the game. Why? I call this the New Teacher Scenario. It's where a teacher moves into a new classroom and suddenly has to redecorate everything in their tastes so they feel at home. Students do it with dorms. New apartment tenants do it with apartments. Hell, even new car owners clean out the cars, hang a dangly thing in their style from the rear view mirror and throw on new seat covers etc. It's a waste of effort.
Why?
Because you feel like you've accomplished something IMMEDIATELY (instant gratification anyone) without anything really changing. Its EXACTLY like a dog peeing all around the parameters of their new territory to make it feel homey and stake their claim. We aren't dogs. We aren't teachers in classrooms. We aren't new car owners. This is a familiar domain. And truthfully it hurts the feelings of people who worked really hard to originally post the material. And I'll be honest. If it was my original material, the moment you quit I'm reverting it back.
The time is so much better spent posting threads for people. The time is so much better spent getting to know your players. The time is so much better spent posting original material for your domain.
This goes along with REWORKING things that have already been reworked dozens of times. Military? Universities? Cults? Gangs? The Government of your Domain itself? Guards? Watches? I know you don't agree with everything that might be going on in your domain, but that doesn't mean as an ASSISTANT you get to rework everything. You know what the domain is like going in right? I'm going to stop this tradition immediately because its just a time waster.
And honestly?
When your all done fixing up your domain, often you are too tired to move on to the more original stuff. Statistically you are about ready to quit at this point anyhow. Because usually, if things go as they normally do, you retire or are retired by me when you go absent because you just 'did a ton of work' in your domain and nothing else is needed.
It's frustrating. It's incredibly frustrating. Assistant Storyteller's jobs aren't to 'fix' broken things in their domains. Their job is to tell stories, grade, and make sure their players are having fun. That's it. It's all outlined in the whole AS job description in the wiki. But I'm going to add to it as well. No more reposting. No more 'fixing up'. We need more incentive for people to move up to DS. That sounds like a much better job for a DS than an AS. That way you can spend your first months telling stories not reposting things that others have worked hard to do.
This might come off as rude. I'm not meaning it that way. I'm just voicing frustrating I've had for a long time over past staff issues and because we have some incoming and current staff that are doing the same thing as well.
