The Black Hole, sometimes referred to as just the Hole, is the secret, not so secret, prison of the Ebonstyfe. Many rumors have circulated to what is actually in the Black Hole, but it's entrance is known to all. Located just outside the Temple of the Black Sun is a well that descends down into the dark depths of Lake Ravok. it is said that at the bottom of the well is the secret prison of the Ebonstryfe, but none who have entered the well have ever been seen again to confirm such stories. The tortured screams of those below can often be heard by those who linger near the well. The Black Hole was built shortly after the Vitrax was complete, and in the early years of Ravok it is said that criminals were often sentenced not to death, but to the Black Hole. Rumor has it that should someone ever escape from the Hole they would be met, and rewarded, by the Voice or even Rhysol himself. While the well is the most well known aspect of the Black Hole, it is common knowledge that there is an actual less secret prison inside as well. This prison is said to also have an entrance inside the Vitrax itself, though rarely are prisoners allowed to see when they enter or exit the prison. It is known to have a single long hallway with barred cells on either side, with a single door leading to the Warden's office at the end. The cells are filled with grime and muck, and prisoners are given a stale loaf of bread and a cup of dirty water to live on during their stay. Most people who have been to the jail agree that there is more to the prison that one hall, however, as screams from below occasionally filter through the stone floor to fill the prisoner's sleeping ears. The Black Hole is also filled with various other chambers used for torture, interrogation, and all other imaginable deeds. Fresh air is provided by long narrow shafts that come up at various places in the Vitrax and temple, marked with heavy iron grates. The shafts are enchanted to prevent rainwater from pouring in and drowning the prisoners, and are to narrow for a human to enter. The prison easily holds up to fifty prisoners at a time, though it is rarely that full. Most prisoners are executed or released within a few days. None of this, however, seems to connect to the well. And it is still a mystery as to what, exactly, is down in the depths of the lake. NPC :
