The man’s words carried such significant weight. Rayage listened to the story, the beginnings of such a fantastical tale, there was a mixture of excitement and dread. The man needed his help for simple reasons. He was a nuit, and therefore able to animate himself, at least according to the words of the Alchemist who stood before him. Though a realization came upon him at the end of it all, and even when Ray turned to see the body of the man, the feeling of dread did not subside. This body was not meant to be his. No, he was a lab rat, a test subject. He was only there to prove a theory, and nothing more. The man, this man, had no reason to share anything to him, and so hope of gaining anything truly insightful from him was skewed.
However, he would play the game to the very end. The nuits mind was ever turning, if he wasn’t given what he sought, then if this body turns to be as powerful as the man claims it to be… he could take the research and secrets with him. Though, he would have to play the game to win. Rayage smiled, looking at the Alvina, ”That is quite the body you have crafted.” he said. The power immanating from it was tangible without the use of magic. It truly was a masterpiece.
Though the mans plan had one fatal flaw. The same logic that the alchemist used: Rayage was a Nuit, and can animate himself, was the downfall of it. If the body was truly living, like the man suggested, then there could very be complications. It defies the very nature of a nuit to jump into a living body. The nuits very ichor is like a sickness and turns undead anything which would drink too much…. If the body was living then how long would it ‘stay alive’ under the nuits influence? It seems almost contradictory, and what if the body itself rejects him? What will happen then?
He had little choice. He couldn’t reject this offer. What if, what if it worked out perfectly? What if the nuit nature had no conflict with the living body? A slim chance, since nuit ichor infects and degrades, but a chance at that, and what if the body could withstand the nuits influence for but a while? The power gained from it would be worth it. More than, actually. To advance one had to take chances after all. However, it seemed that, theoretically, for the experiment to be a complete success it would take skills beyond even Rayages ability. It would take an animator of such skill to transfer a soul into the body directly, not a nuit jumping in there with its poisonous ichor. The animator IS the key.
Brooding about his decision, the nuit looked towards the man. He did not know much about animation, only the basics which Reaver had taught him, and the bare necessities of the daek-nuit, having undergone the ritual himself. The complexity of the ritual was beyond him, for he was no animator, but he understood enough to tell that this man was on to something. This was going to be the one of the perfect combinations of Alchemy and Animation, however it would take great practitioners of both disciplines… which is why this man is settling for a nuit. The Animator is out of the picture. What a stroke of luck for Rayage.
In the end Rayage was a lab rat, and Reaver was right. This man needed test subjects. What, what would happen when the ‘greatest living alchemist’ got the data which he so desired? Suspicion clawed its way in Rays mind, and the nuits gaze lingered at the old man.
Deciding the undead walked up to the body and looked down at it, ”Very well, old man, you will have your test subject.”
OOCI didnt know if you wanted me to do the body transfer ritual or not. If you want me to do it, I can edit it in. PM me Also, I dont care when you post (I sort of do) just Im grateful that I get a post
