I'm inclined toward a gradual dulling of his humanity and a corresponding sharpening of his animal instincts, even though he lives in a city and interacts with humans every day.

I would tend to agree with you all, at least from Nya and Abashai's experience. Nya states many times that her more socially human traits were learned from Abashai, and reinforced by visits to cities. As they spent more time in the wilderness, her animalistic traits became more prominent (though they were never far away). Of course, like Verilian said, it would vary individually.

I think what your saying sounds doable Jynx, isolating himself within a crowd, so to speak, it just seems as if his business is a good way to keep him constantly having those human interactions as well.

I have a question for you (and Nya too I suppose haha), Abashai. In the trips to the wilderness if they were enough to draw out the underlying predatory nature of Nya (more than in social climates, anyway), did Abashai also feel the effects of this despite or because of the bond, or was it more of Nya displaying her feral nature to everyone save him?

I like to think that I play Nya as ever the beast. Her cat side is far stronger than her human mimicking form. But she became 'humanesque' to please Abashai because it was more comfortable for him to have her do things like wear clothing, not eat small children, etc.

Yes, don't get me wrong. Nya was and is always the cat. It took Abashai a long time to accept that, unable to get past her human appearance. As their particular relationship developed, and he accepted her as the beast, the expectations that Nya would behave humanly became less important than is desire to be bond closer to her. In fact, he would often open himself to more beastly behavior, even so far as to adopt animal signs of affection, and partake in an animalistic mating ritual in order to conceive a child with her. Again..this is their particular case and relationship.

Figured I should introduce myself here!

My name is Lilly and I play a domestic cat Kelvic Nadia, very young and inexperienced but eager to explore the wide world of Misahar. I am actually in the works with James Alexander to setting up a Bondmate/Familiar pairing between his mage and my Nadia.

Can't wait to get started and meet everyone. ^__^

Okay so I’m new to this whole Kelvic thing as well and I want to say hello to all my fellow canines out there.

Also I have two questions [one serious and another hypothetical].

The serious one: In a Kelvic’s true animal form, can they understand the other languages that they can speak in their human form? I apologize if this has already been stated and I missed it.

And the hypothetical one: Since Kelvic are truly animal, does that mean that they can breed with a normal animal in their species. If so, what would the offspring be? I’ll use my character for an example. Let’s say that Neekra is wondering around the woods one night and happens to breed with an average wolf? Would she have Kelvic pups or just average wolf pups or none? Or do Kelvics even look at other members of their species as possible breeding mates since they have human intelligence?

Hi Neekra and Nadia! Welcome to being Kelvics!

Neekra, I see you had questions.

In a Kelvics true form, as long as they can hear sound the same way humans do, or close to it, they can understand the languages they know. This is not a problem. You don't 'forget' yourself when you are a beast. You are just... in your opinion, in your bestest ever natural form.

Kelvics are sterile when bred to animals of their same form. They must mate with other sentient races or other kelvics. Kelvics do not have pups. They give birth in their human form to babies... human babies usually. Marcus Kelvic did all he could to make them as human as possible and give them a reason from going 'feral'. I do not think they look down on other members of their animal species in general (but then again there's always free will in PCs and the way people play them) because they can talk to them, communicate with them, and in essence are one of them. That would only really ring true of the PC hated that they were kelvic and wanted to be fully human etc.
