I decided to play a Symenestra because they are a such a fascinating race.

They are hated almost universally because they abduct women and condemn them to an early death, but their reason for doing so is quite tragic. It's the only way for them to survive.

To somebody who doesn't know them, they seem cruel, but they are well educated, they value knowledge and beauty and care deeply about their families.

They live in a cave, but it's a colourful cave where the houses hang from the ceiling and everything is decorated with silk.

All those contrasts drew me to them.

That's a really interesting concept and it's also why I was at first drawn to them (also because of their deadly nature and I just love playing a killer). However my character is a Symenestra who is going to discover this world and fall entirely in love with it at first sight, just like I did.
