While Zeltiva has no official entrance area, I am adding this as an entrance thread to show how your character got into Zeltiva. This is mostly so Storytellers can keep track of who is in the city at any one time.

Feel free to also use this as an exit thread to show a grand send off for your PC as they start the next leg of their journey. Keep in mind though, that you do not have to do an exit thread, just an entrance.

Please post a time stamped entry showing where your character came into the city.

On the eastern coast of Mizahar sits a beautiful port city by the name of Zeltiva. Many come each year seeking higher learning and vast commercial trade. Wonderful items from across Mizahar find themselves in shops all over the city. Trade workers and trainers seek to pass on their knowledge, and sea worthy sailors offer passage and the finest ships around.

The Mirahil Pass allows for some travel by land. The Pass is nestled between two mountain peaks, but most travel is done by ship in the ever busy harbor.

Zeltiva is also home to a famous university where any and everything is taught. Scholars from all corners of Mizahar travel hundreds of miles to study in the only city to still boast a functional historic district. The city holds many secrets for the brave traveler and is a haven for those needing a safe place to rest and restock.

Rolling Waves and Active Minds

Postby Aquila on September 27th, 2011, 6:53 am

( Just a copy/paste from my 1st thread with Aquila in Zeltiva, which suits an entry-post fine since it's literally about her arrival in Mizahar/Zeltiva and the start of her mortal life on this world. ^^ )

Timestamp: 1st of Fall 511 AV

With a calm ocean and briskly weather on the first day of the new season, the panoramic viewing of the sea was a popular passtime during that day for many people walking along the harbor of Zeltiva. Sailors, merchants aswell as numerous residents of the portcity were oblivious to its serene beauty however, they were occupied with their jobs, bantering and so forth.

For the ones who were enjoying the oceanic view though, for the lucky ones amongst them anyway, were able to see a once-in-a-lifetime scene unfold in the distance.

The birth, of an Ethaefal.

Waves suddenly appeared out of nowhere and grew larger and higher with each passing second, the sun hid behind some clouds and a feint moon was visible in the distance while a shape of surreal gorgeousness could be seen manifest itself inside a particularly large wave. A shimmering, female body could be seen inside the wave. Completely naked and of unparalleled beauty it slowly took form outside the wave as it splashed back into the ocean, a good distance away from the harbor.

The fortunate spectators were in awe and could only stare speechless at what was happening before them. The wave had disappeared and after a short while the head of a horned woman could be seen splashing upwards out of the sea.

Gasping for air and waiting for her vision to return, Aquila found herself in the midst of a sea, paddling with her feet and swimming awkwardly with her arms in circles before she found the harborcity nearby. She had no idea what she was doing there or where she was, but she knew she had to reach land in order to survive.

Rolling Waves [Entrance Thread]

Postby Astrolabe on September 30th, 2011, 3:43 pm

Fall 20, 507 A.V.

With a great deal of reluctance, Astrolabe finally reached down and picked up his pack, slinging it over his shoulder. His trunk had already been off loaded, and he had delayed his own disembarkation for as long as possible. He was the last passenger still standing on the deck, and even most of the crew were on the dock, busy at their tasks now that the ship had reached the port of Zeltiva. The young man’s eyes traveled over what would have otherwise been an exciting and alluring scene to him – the bustling activity of the harbor. The other stops along the route of his long, long journey from Lhavit had been welcome ones. Though he enjoyed every moment of their time underway, it had been thrilling to see the other cities of Mizahar. But Zeltiva was to be his last stop – it was his final destination. And here would begin what he was sure would be another miserable chapter in his life – another failure, to add to all the others. Wistfully, he took one last, longing look at the ship he had called home for many months. If only he could stay aboard. If only he could sign on as just another crewman, a sailor whose life would consist of roving the seas of the world, seeing every city and port, spending weeks on the breast of the open ocean, exploring the inland sea. If only he had not been born into an ancient family of mages who could only see a path for him that he himself knew was never going to materialze – no matter how hard he tried. He had tried. Now, he hardly saw the point.

With a deep sigh, he set foot on the brow that led down to the wharf. He had no false hope that he would find any more success as an academic than he had as a mage. But . . . he would try. His family expected it of him. He would try.

Walking down the wooden plank, he resigned himself to this new place, this new experience, this new opportunity to disappoint himself as well as those who still had some faith in him.

Rolling Waves [Entrance Thread]

Postby Amadeus Telrunya on October 26th, 2011, 9:25 pm

Summer 509

Amadeus had been travelling eastward for many days. Along the way, his unquenchable thirst for new places and learning had battled ceaselessly with his tastes for comfort and cool, dark places. As he came within the outskirts of his destination, the great city of Zeltiva, he wondered how long he would stay. He stood for a moment between two chapters of his life, and felt incredibly lonely and tired. What did this city have in store for him? What would he do with the rest of his life? He was still driven by questions as much as his desire to learn.

Whenever there is the sundown, and the light begins to fade, the shadows are on their peak. Now, dusk or not, there were two shadows walking silently across the road, where in the near distance, the gates to the city did stand. A man, with a hat mask over his face, and a hat on his head, so that nothing but his eyes could be seen. And, right besides him, a gray and white wolf, reaching to the human's thigh, walking faithfully with him on this long journey.

The man sooner or later arrived at the gates, and then took a robe from his backpack, and tied it around the wolf's neck. Now, he knew his companion hated that, but if he wanted to get him in the city, he'd have to do that.

Now, as he walked pass the gates, a guard did stop him, and asked for his name, and his reason for traveling. The hooded man simply spoke out. "The name is Spade. I'm here on contract. I am no trouble unless you prod deeper into my living." He said that as emotionless and cold as he possibly could, and the guard, seemingly only a trainee, nodded and stepped away.

And so Spade, as he called himself, entered the city of Zeltiva.

Summer 4, 491 A.V.
It was an unusually warm summer. Beads of sweat slowly dripped down the face of a young woman named Anna. The nursemaid standing over her patted her face with a soft cloth. "Be strong Anna, you are almost there." Anna gave one final push and instantly the sounds of a baby's cry filled the room. Anna began to cry. "It's a boy, and he's a big one." The nursemaid said with a smile. Anna took the boy in her arms and the instant she did he stopped crying. She looked down into his eyes and smiled. "What's his name Anna?" The nursemaid said expectantly. "His name is Armondir." She replied. Never once looking away from her beautiful son.

Corvus stayed tucked as far to the inside of the boat as he could, but avoiding even the finest misting of salt water from the sea was impossible and he’d had enough of it to last a lifetime. His face was a tight mask, red from the effort of concentration the spasmodic rocking of the ship required to keep from undoing his human body while Syna was high in the sky, browning his skin. He kept the cobalt cloak Ifran had given him tucked tightly around his body in an attempt to keep his awkward limbs in line.

Thankfully, the unbearably long trip was coming to an end. The boat docked in the harbor and for the first time he actually breathed, able to deal with the salty smell of the air only because there was finally land in front of him. Until he’d stepped off the boat, with his light pack almost too much weight to handle for his human form, he had no idea why he’d forced himself to come here. But once he was free of the sea and the boat, Corvus knew he was in the right place.

Rolling Waves [Entrance Thread]

Postby Stri Navasarjaka on November 9th, 2011, 3:38 am

01 Winter 511 AV

As the caravan pulled up to the city gates, Stri hopped off the back of one of the large hooded wagons and said his goodbyes to the merchants and bodyguards who had been his companions for the past few dozen ten-days. Giving final farewells to the owner of the caravan, he made his way to the gateway and approached a guard standing on duty. As he walked towards the watchman, his eyes took in the city walls. Not as large as Stormhold Castle, but it certainly had its charm. Inhaling deeply, Stri could feel the sting of the briny air already, and the ocean was not even in sight. Breathing through his mouth, he was certain he could almost taste it. This might take some getting used to.

When asked his name and purpose, Stri would answer, "My name is Stri and I came to enroll in the university... Where is the school, by the way? I have never been to Zeltiva before..." Upon receiving directions, Stri made his way to the university's Registrar Office in hopes of enrolling in the school and pursuing his dreams.

Rolling Waves [Entrance Thread]

Postby Elias on November 9th, 2011, 3:39 am

1st of Fall, 502

It had turned into a ritual. Coming to the docks at dusk to witness the decline of the sun. But today seemed different, special. He had his share of troubles years ago, much different from the quiet years he had spent studying at the university.

Most people on the docks didn't have this kind of thoughts. They were way too busy working their butts off to feed their family to even think about having more trouble come at them. And yet the man did. He walked down the lively streets of the docks, making his way to his favorite spot, a lone wharf, too small to be of any use to bigger trade boats, leaving the view wide open for Elias to gaze at the marvels of the world.

OOCNevermind the entrance thread, I'll be starting out in Riverfall instead. I'm still up for flashbacks though.

Postby Jeremiah DraDerex on November 9th, 2011, 6:04 pm

1st of Fall, 483AV

It had been a successful journey for both Mr. and Mrs. Derex. As they stepped off the boat, she gave him a heart filled kiss. The two of them had obtained enough money to settle down for a little while and start a family. The two sailors gone lovers left the docks with a family on both of their minds. Little did they know how fortunate they would be in five years time.

(OOC this is just a flash back, thrown together introduction of Jeremiah and Draven's entrance and living in Zeltiva)
