10th of Winter - 510 AV

The Temple of All Gods wasn't particularly busy that day. There were some worshipers scattered around. Some mumbling to themselves, others leaving small offerings. There was a trio of huge of Akalak's sitting side by side in the first pews from the entrance. Their hushed voices spoke of Wysar, the god of discipline, but when Tessa would enter the temple, they would all get up and leave. The last in the row would send her a lewd look, but not act further upon his obvious attraction to the wanderer.

A man wearing a light gray sackcloth robe would come from behind Tessa and walk by the wanderer. The hood on the robe was up so the wandered could not see his scruffy short beard. His intelligent eyes that covered for a very inquisitive nature. He would proceed up the middle aisle and stop there and look at the wonderful artwork and incredible masonry.

[Flashback] Seeking Answers. [Tessa Poe]

Tessa sighed in relief at the sight of the temple, as usual her trip through the city had consisted of getting lost and having to ask for directions more than once. Still, she was here now, though she wasn’t entirely sure why. It had been a couple of days since her meal with Bob at the Swan and their brief conversation about the Gods had sparked her curiosity. It really wasn’t something she knew much about, beyond the names of some of the more famous ones… and possibly those odd twins that Bob had mentioned. It was that curiosity that had brought here to the wide open doors of the temple, she’d figured that if anywhere was going to have information about them Gods it was a place devoted to all of them.

As she stepped through the great doors that led into the temple itself Tessa couldn't help but crane her neck back, the hood of her cloak slipping from her head and letting her hair in its customary pony tail fall free. She stood there, unable to move as she tried to get her mind round just how big the place actually was. Its lofty ceilings and large windows gave it a feeling of space that you rarely encountered in Syliras, and after the always seemingly endless corridors it was something of a shock to find herself suddenly somewhere so open. The weak winter sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows leant an almost fairy tale nature to the scene as she finally stepped fully across the threshold, her eyes shining as she looked this way and that, the grey stone so common to the city seemed far more inviting than it usually did, bringing a cheerful little smile to her lips as she took another couple of hesitant steps inside, wincing at the sound of her footfalls that hung in almost too loud echoes around her before they blended with the murmured conversations and prayers of the gathered faithful. For a moment all was still again, aside from the quiet background noise of the other worshippers, that was until there came the scrape of boots on stone and heavy footfalls making their way towards her.

She turned at the sound and saw a trio of Akalaks apparently on their way out, catching the look one of them sent her way and automatically turning away from it. Honestly what was it with them and their sort of creepiness? At least he hadn't taken it any further than a look, she'd had quite enough of awkward conversations with those imposing giants while she'd been in Riverfall to last a life time. It did sort of settle things for her though, she wasn’t leaving for a good half a bell or so now, that would leave more than enough time for the Akalaks to be on their way to wherever it was they were going.

She peered around the temple again, trying to see if there was anyone she broach the first of her many questions with nearby but could only see people in their private worship and she was loathe to interrupt them. She’d never really understood the idea of faith, if something needed doing you did it yourself; you didn’t pray to the Gods and ask for them to miraculously fix your problems. Besides, they had probably had far better things to do than worry about someone who’d lost a shoe or a pet or something. She wandered further in beneath the vaulted ceiling, eyes tracing over the stone work before being drawn back to the stained glass windows and the various scenes they laid out. They were… beautiful, there really wasn’t any other way to describe them. She grew quite lost in contemplating a particular scene that seemed to feature a stern figure of a woman flanked by a pair of… well they were sort of dog like… if you… no, there was no getting around it, they were definitely dogs. Tessa shivered involuntarily, wondering which particular deity that was supposed to represent and earnestly hoping she’d never have to meet. Thankfully her attention was dragged away from the window by the sound of someone passing behind her, a figure in a grey hooded cloak who came to a halt a few paces away. Apparently he was doing much the same as she was, just admiring the place. Since whoever it was didn’t seem to be involved in their own worship or anything maybe they’d know who she could talk to?

She crossed the small gap between them with quick steps, acting before she could think too much about it and cleared her throat quietly before saying “Ummm… excuse me? I was wondering if… that is… do you know anyone here I could talk to about the Gods? It’s just that, ummmm I know it might sound strange but I was having a meal with a… friend… the other day and he started talking about them and I realised that I really don’t know all that much about them or anything so… is there anyone here I could talk to?” She finished slightly lamely, all too aware of the rushing babble her words had come out in. She just had to hope she wasn’t interrupting whoever this person was with her mess of a question.
